Pretty impressed how this budget kit uses the correct rollers for the alu profile and has enough right angle gussets for the whole frame when some other more expensive kits don't. Never been a fan of that upside down flex coupler though - bouncy! None of these kits I've come across so far have a cooling fan as stock, definitely ridiculous!
Can you make a video comparing between straight and upside down flex coupler? I thought the upside down ones was better because it allows for the rod to shift as needed.
Hi, I saw the 'tronxy' latest yesterday, you will be happy to see they have a cover box and switch for the powersupply/mains. It also uses 2 z-axis motors on the bottom. Al frame, all for $219US, on ebay.
Looking forward to seeing some videos about upgrading this printer. And I think that lots of people will also enjoy it, due to the fact that most of your followers have a printer likely to that (also me). Right now I am upgrading the x axis carriage, and it's an amazing goal. Great job!!!
I already have this 3D printer for a couple of months, I made a few upgrades, and believe me, it's printing really good. First thing I designed was a Z axis stepper and nut support, the ones that came with the kit are too much flexible, so I printed a new ones, other thing I found, is that the Y axis belt needs to be very tight in order to avoid ghosting and wobbling, I'm thinking now to design something to avoid que bed inclination due to X axis fast movement, that contributes to the wobbling too. In any case, this is not the worst printer I played with.
I own an anet a8. And Iv had it for about 4 month running 24/7 printing fidget spinners. I chose the a8 because of the power supply mount. I was worried about the power supply moving and disconnecting the mains wires and starting a fire. Also the a8 has a part blower with a huge amount of pressure. The a8 has a more finished look. Just keep in mind that Iv made multiple mods and changes to the a8. If youre going to your first 3d printer or just a tinkering mechine then Id choose the a8.
on those cheap kits, you wanna replace the belts with glass fiber GT2s, and print some proper belt mounts and adjustable tensioners, as soon as you can. it makes a big difference. the ultra cheap PU+steel belts they come with are complete rubbish. they're stiff, wont last long, and stretch under load, increasing oscillations and ripples. (A8 user here)
Surprisingly... if you dont over torque the screws and crack the acrylic, it is actually a pretty fantastic printer for the price, especially way better than this.
This is my current printer. I put a genuine e3d, y axis dual linear rails, and direct extruder on it. It has slight sag on the x gantry still, but plan on doing a dual z setup. Overall it is a very good printer to start with and learn on. You can get almost Prusa quality prints if you spend about $200 on upgrades. Definitely get Skynet marlin, it gives it thermal runaway protection plus much easier tuning.
I just bought the Anet a8 a few days ago, the a8 does have a cooling fan and it looks a bit better I think. But I hope you are going to make lots of more vids with the a2 :)
It's helpful because it gives the audience all of the information we need to make a decision about recommendations or opinions. For example, his opinion in a given video might be influenced by the fact that a company has paid him to review a product. I'm not suggesting that is the case, but I think it's best to be open and upfront, such that the audience can come to an informed conclusion.
Personally I would never accept any kind of money for a review as it can no longer be unbiased - I would assume Devin is much the same. Most likely Gearbest reached out to him to send one across for an unbiased review. I 100% trust him to make the call good or bad!
Also, if a company sends you a product, even if they're not "paying" you outright, many reviewers do receive the item for free so they're more likely to give a dishonest review, whether they're aware of a bias or not. Also, and most importantly, it's possible the item sent to the reviewer has had extra care and review to make sure it's in the best condition, and many people who just ordered it separately may not have the same level of quality control or tweaking. I'm rather unsure of this video myself as he first says it was sent by the company, but then he said it cost $180 both of which are stated ambiguously; was it sent by the company as in he bought it directly and paid $180? Or did they send it to him for review, and him saying it cost $180 is a general statement and didn't cost him anything? Longterm viewers of a channel may have a certain level of trust, but having a disclaimer, or using language to make it clear, is not only required in most western countries, but is also incredibly helpful to people just googling the product to look for reviews. You don't have to be a sleezy shill to give a biased review, and it can be very difficult to identify whether or not your review is bias.
Hi sir , this's Chris Leonardo from tevo company , are you interesting in review the tevo products or not , hope to hear back from you soon. Best regards.
you should also send one of yours to Thomas Sanladerer asap imho...he is getting ask for Tevo Tarantula opinion like at least 50 times in his Prusa i3 MK2 3D printer clone live assembly last night,,check part 5 and look at the comments of livestream
I have this printer, it is my first one. It suffers from z-axis banding, I have yet to figure out how to fix it. The wheels get nicked during assembly by a newb like me. Also like the A8 you should add a mosfet for the heated bed on its own power out line from the ps. Also add a fused switch. It does vibrate so a solid wood base and brackets helps reduce the 'waves' in printing straight lines. I also added my own glass plates to more easily swap from ABS and PLA.
I just ordered an anet a8 yesterday and it gets here tomorrow... I'm 14 so I hope I have enough knowledge to build it but I have a bit of experience because I have a Lulzbot taz 6 at my house but I bet it's going to be a bit difficult.
The A2 is more expandable than the A8. It is basically a Tevo Tarantula knock off, but the tevo can be upgraded to dual extrusions and a larger build area, it also cast about $200. For the A2 you could probably print the same upgrades you would use on the tevo, like a better Z axis bracket.
If you cant easily add another fan, can you design a fan shroud? so that the cold air is redirected both to the piece being printed and to the extruder
I would recommend for first printer IIIp maker select 3d printer cost $350 ish and it has a decent six inch cube print volume that makes great prints, has heated bed and part cooking fan
Good video ! I have the A8 , work very well on the A2 I like the aluminum frame but I don't like the Bowden system and the lack of the fan to cool the print
When you plugged in the printer, did it work? My printer loops the intro every time you press a button, and I am not sure what I have to upload to it Please help me.
Make Anything // 3D Printing Channel Sorry for the hassle, I didn't realize there are two separate buttons on the printer, and I kept hitting the restart button.
I think it would be cool if you could a cover for the display and the buttons, because it looks a bit "raw"(but that's only my taste). I think about something with flexible filament(if this printer is capable of printing that) on the buttons and PLA on the rest of the panel. I think about something in white. But I'm not a designer and I don't know much about design, heck, I'm even bad at art in school! So if you want to try and challenge this printer with flexible filament, that would be a good idea for a print!
I built a OneUp 3D printer in 2013, used it for a year, then one of the motors broke, so I went without one for a year and a half, then got my current one, a XYZPrinting Da Vinchi Mini
Really useful video, which I'll watch again when I get home from work, as I am in the middle of building an A2 printer. One question... Did the assemble video that you watched have sound? The videos which the links supplied by Anet take me to do not have any sound, which is making the build more of a faff than I think it needs to be. It is definitely not an issue with my PC, as I can hear you just fine! If you could post the links you were given I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. :)
Hey, little quick note! While you have the motors plugged into the main circuit board.. do NOT move the axis very fast at all! Moving those motors without power applied generates electricity! Too much of that, and you can -short out your board-!
Did anyone with this printer have the firmware set up with the Y axis reversed? Mine is homing backwards (table moves forward to home instead of backward towards the endstop). The easiest fix is to reverse the polarity on the Y motor connector, but I am wondering who else has this problem, what you did and whether you made the fix in firmware.
Hi bro! You're reaaaaly awesome guy, with passion and creativity, I really appreciate what you're doing! Keep on doing this and just give us more fun / tips etc. Btw get well soon bro!
Hey Devon, are you going to release the S shaped belt tensioner? Regards, Loohney P.S. Love your galactops fdm pack, I printed them on an A8 and they are just amazing!
I have never 3D printed before but I have used a 3D pen and made a thunder bird from fantastic beasts! That printer looks pretty good I can get my dad to help me he is a engineer and works with things like that I'm looking forward to seine what Devin is going to make next he has inspired me to do things like using a 3D pen
Hey Devin I've been watching some of your videos and I just want to know where you get your shirts. I think they look really cool and want to get some myself.
Wow! After watching this it's getting more difficult for me to choose between this and the Tevo Tarantula. So this doesn't come with any free roll of filament?
TheLuckyIsaac He can print the ninjaflex parts on another printer. Also, if he prints slow enough there's not really a problem with ninjaflex on this printer
Pleeeeeeeease be careful when ordering from GearBest and live in the states... You NEED to choose DHL for shipping in order to get past customs. If you dont, youll pay for the typical shipping costs and they will wait almost a month before contacting you for more money. Check out the reviews of Gearbest before buying there.
man Person 114 Probably a Wanhao Duplicator i3. I have the Aldi version and it works very well. You will want to upgrade the stock cooler to a Diii cooler since it isn't very good, and lower the acceleration and jerk settings, but out of the box it is almost fully assembled with belts that aren't crazy loose like this guy's.
Never run filament through the hot end without having the tube fully inserted. Also make sure the end of the tube is cut perfectly square. Your belts are still too loose.

My favorite 3D printing mentor commenting on my favorite 3D artist's channel. Great!
Maker's Muse My Anet A6 has one
Can you make a video comparing between straight and upside down flex coupler? I thought the upside down ones was better because it allows for the rod to shift as needed.

are you sure about that? my Anet A8 came with a stock cooling fan. Im new to 3D printing as well
That magic S idea is genius! No need to replace the belt and print out whole belt tensioners, just a quick 5-10 minute print.
Looking forward to seeing some videos about upgrading this printer. And I think that lots of people will also enjoy it, due to the fact that most of your followers have a printer likely to that (also me). Right now I am upgrading the x axis carriage, and it's an amazing goal. Great job!!!

I would recommend the anet A8 because that one does have the part cooling fan and it does look a bit more polished
So glad to see a well known youtubers thoughts on an ANET product. Next try the ANET A8
I own an anet a8. And Iv had it for about 4 month running 24/7 printing fidget spinners. I chose the a8 because of the power supply mount. the a8 has a fan on the extruder so although its acrylic i'd say its a better choice. (and cheaper too)
Surprisingly... if you dont over torque the screws and crack the acrylic, it is actually a pretty fantastic printer for the price, especially way better than this.
I have one, and have good finish out of the box
Rosendo Aguirre if you added a cooling fan would the kit be beater than a a8

But I hope you are going to make lots of more vids with the a2 :)
I started off getting in touch with 3D printing by building myself a delta printer. It came out really nice.
It would be really helpful to know which (if any) of your videos are sponsored - whether paid-for content and/or free items. It's not always clear.
Olomoso Just curious, but why is that helpful?
It's helpful because it gives the audience all of the information we need to make a decision about recommendations or opinions. For example, his opinion in a given video might be influenced by the fact that a company has paid him to review a product. I'm not suggesting that is the case, but I think it's best to be open and upfront, such that the audience can come to an informed conclusion.

Also because not adding a disclaimer when you have recieved any kind of compensation is illegal in many parts of the world.
Personally I would never accept any kind of money for a review as it can no longer be unbiased - I would assume Devin is much the same. Most likely Gearbest reached out to him to send one across for an unbiased review. I 100% trust him to make the call good or bad!

I've got the Anet a8 and it's brilliant
No joke, yesterday I got a diy Pursa i3, I started building it today and now while I'm building it this video shows up
im going to send this to my dad :) He always wanted a 3D printer and this would be a good start .!
PhinabellaPhan I would also look at the Anet A8, It's much better.
I couldn't wait till my birthday to buy a 3D printer so I just bought the ANET A8 yesterday!
Hi sir , this's Chris Leonardo from tevo company , are you interesting in review the tevo products or not , hope to hear back from you soon. Best regards.

It's nice to see how you improve the 3D printer with the 3D printer itself haha👍🏻
I have this printer, it is my first one. It suffers from z-axis banding, I have yet to figure out how to fix it. The wheels get nicked during assembly by a newb like me. U should 3D print a shell or body for the printer so it looks nicer and so u don't have to fiddle with all the wires and such
I just ordered an anet a8 yesterday and it gets here tomorrow... I'm 14 so I hope I have enough knowledge to build it but I have a bit of experience because I have a Lulzbot taz 6 at my house but I bet it's going to be a bit difficult.
Congrats though your tax 6 is probably better

all of your vids are so relaxing
I would recommend for first printer IIIp maker select 3d printer cost $350 ish and it has a decent six inch cube print volume that makes great prints, has heated bed and part cooking fan
best budget kit ever is the flsun kossel series. I've had amazing experience with them!
I got the ante a8 for Christmas, I haven't finished building it yet.
Good video !
I have the A8 , work very well
on the A2
I like the aluminum frame
but I don't like the Bowden system and the lack of the fan to cool the print
Can you please make a video on the micro 3d printer
When you plugged in the printer, did it work?
My printer loops the intro every time you press a button, and I am not sure what I have to upload to it
Please help me.
+Science Man I didn't have that problem.... Google is your friend!
Make Anything // 3D Printing Channel Sorry for the hassle, I didn't realize there are two separate buttons on the printer, and I kept hitting the restart button.
Could you print a face plate for the display and the buttons??
what did you do to your wall ( 4:53)?
Have an Anet A6 and I'm getting quite good results
I think it would be cool if you could a cover for the display and the buttons, because it looks a bit "raw"(but that's only my taste). So if you want to try and challenge this printer with flexible filament, that would be a good idea for a print!
Can u do the same kind of review but with the anet a8 instead
what is the build plate size
You could probably print a fan shroud/adapter to add a fan, but I don't know. Would you?
What's your opinion of the Prusa i3 mk2
Devon, could you please do a review on the cube 3
I want to know what you think of the Da Vinci Mini.
love your vids keep it coming
I built a OneUp 3D printer in 2013, used it for a year, then one of the motors broke, so I went without one for a year and a half, then got my current one, a XYZPrinting Da Vinchi Mini
A mini computer fan on a small bracket ON the heater head itself pointing at the piece should do the cooling you want.....
the a8 does have a fan that cools the fillement ,so maby you could leave a anotation to that in your vid
It's like building a PC, the next level. Building a PC takes me two hours or so, and I did it just a few times. This would take me forever.
can u do a review on the monoprice select mini
Really useful video, which I'll watch again when I get home from work, as I am in the middle of building an A2 printer. One question... Did the assemble video that you watched have sound? It is definitely not an issue with my PC, as I can hear you just fine! If you could post the links you were given I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. :)
As you say that this kit can be upgraded, my question would be if i'm able to add a second extruder to print with 2 colors.
Apparently you can, since the Tevo Tarantula offers a dual extruder upgrade, and they're essentially the same printer
Plz do a review on the Anet a8
I want to see a print where the beauty of it is the strings that 3D printers tend to leave.
Devin can you do a hairy lion or a 3d printed broom or brush
Hey, little quick note! While you have the motors plugged into the main circuit board.. do NOT move the axis very fast at all! Moving those motors without power applied generates electricity! Too much of that, and you can -short out your board-!

Do a review on the monoprice mini
*waves* "this isn't the printer you are looking for"
star wars reference 10/10
NewMoonLord52 wat
Its All Mine it's a reference to the quote "these are not the droids you are looking for."
make more of these pls they are rlly good
where did you get that large tape that seems like it would be useful
Amazon : amzn.to/2npg4LK
I have another roll twice as wide :O
Get the mk3 and try to fix the extrusion issues
I was gonna get the a3 but import charges were too much for my liking. Got an anycubic linear delta instead :)
Not bad for your first build. Curious to see how you modify this machine :)
Hi bro! You're reaaaaly awesome guy, with passion and creativity, I really appreciate what you're doing! Keep on doing this and just give us more fun / tips etc.
Btw get well soon bro!
Review the Monoprice Mini Select please
wait why does it not have a fan? Isn't it supposed to be an upgrade from the A8? I got an A8 and it has a fan, also way less warping on my prints
Try and add a fan and make a shell cover thing so everything isn't exposed to liquids or anything
Like if you agree
Hey Devon, are you going to release the S shaped belt tensioner?
Regards,
Loohney
P.S. Love your galactops fdm pack, I printed them on an A8 and they are just amazing!
Nevermind, i created a similar one with 123Design. :)
What's that "encedalus" poster behind you? It looks awesome.
+PurpleLizard 23 NASA released all those promotional posters for free online.. you just need a good printer :)
+carter bagley I print my shirts custom whenever Zazzle has a 50% off sale 😂
Wow! After watching this it's getting more difficult for me to choose between this and the Tevo Tarantula. So this doesn't come with any free roll of filament?
No.. and apparently they're essentially the same printer
Thanks for this vid, it's really helpful for me since I'm in the market for a printer!
could you make a coin sorter
Review the Monoprice Select
hey can you 3d print a play button because i just cant do it on my printer
Do you recommend Anet 2 or Creality Ender 3 ?
Did they include the transparent spiral wire wrap in the box or did you have to supply your own?
It was included
Thanks :)
That was fast, the last Patreon post I remember, is you showing the kit.
Yup. flew right through the build!
You should design an enclosure for the display along with some ninjaflex buttons.
TheLuckyIsaac He can print the ninjaflex parts on another printer. Also, if he prints slow enough there's not really a problem with ninjaflex on this printer
hi, did the second fan reduce the oozle ?! ive got that damn probleme too on my printer
I'm waiting for it to ship, but a second fan will help a lot, I'm sure
dual y is for what?? may i know??
A suggestion for a future video, you could do a coin sorter, that would be fun
I love your videos!!!!!
Emilie O'Hara hello fellow O'Hara
U need a upgrade fan some extra parts at the corners and some parts to reduce the Z wobble
Ive heard gearbest isnt really known for their service with shipping. I saw this kit and was thinking about buying it but is gearbest trusted?
"It's quite a small package" That's what she said hahaha :'(
Hello Just finished building Anet A2, when plugged in first time I get 2 beeps any ideas? LCD screen lights up, NO Text?
Hi there, i realy like your video's, im wondering if you can 3D print a functional custom beyblade
so... a tevo tarantula clone?
You should check out the Tevo Tarantula man
Can we print Electronic Circuit with Anet A2 3D Printer or any other
3D Printer Required please Guide
Do you have the belt tensioner model? I have an Anet A8 (bought it 175$ on eBay) and the belts seem a bit loose.
It's not on thingiverse.
Tevo Tarantula or Anet A2?
Pleeeeeeeease be careful when ordering from GearBest and live in the states... You NEED to choose DHL for shipping in order to get past customs. If you dont, youll pay for the typical shipping costs and they will wait almost a month before contacting you for more money. Check out the reviews of Gearbest before buying there.
Thanks for the review, informative.
Looks identical to a Tevo Tarantula.
it is
what printer would you recommend for someone starting off (less than €500). clean and good prints
man Person 114 Probably a Wanhao Duplicator i3. I have the Aldi version and it works very well. You will want to upgrade the stock cooler to a Diii cooler since it isn't very good, and lower the acceleration and jerk settings, but out of the box it is almost fully assembled with belts that aren't crazy loose like this guy's.
the maker select v2 is an insanely good printer, in my opinion, heated build plate, cooling fans, good price. You can check it out at monoprice.com
Personally, I've had great experience with the Anet A8 Prusa i3. www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_337314.html $170
Wait' are those Call of Duty Infinite Warfare calling card posters? If so where did you get them?
Can't you 3D print the 'shell' of a 3D printer and add things to make a 3D printed 3D printer
can u review the mynt3d pen pls pls pls thanks Devon
Never run filament through the hot end without having the tube fully inserted. Also make sure the end of the tube is cut perfectly square.
Your belts are still too loose.
