What if they removed the box limit of 10 boxes per day, add back the legendary token reward of 500 tokens and add a pity system where say like every 25 boxes you open you are guaranteed to get the 500 tokens box or somthing
I’m just most of the time. Just have about 50 to 100 not exactly Poor but just kind of in the middle (I just get it by playing soccer and other originals. Because I’m one of those idiots that play soccer)
I’m glad someone finally addressed this issue. I’ve had lots of frustration lately because of these obvious token scams. As time goes on cosmetics are just getting really expensive. As someone that most definitely is in the lower class of rec room, I find it very difficult to get any tokens. Heck, I’ve been at 400 tokens for a month now. It seems as though token boxes have gotten more rare but I honestly can’t tell. The way I see it, my outfit will stay the same so there is no reason to buy new stuff. In general, this is something that more people need to be aware of.
ahem* truetruetruetrue, canrelatecsnrelate ah jees can relate as all hell. I swear, I get 25 tokens then none after 6-u days, then all of a sudden I find people with 100k tokens pissing me off.
Yes I love the idea of low, but consistent token rewards. Zerax touched on this already, but isle, crescendo, and laser tag have a very good system in place, you can grind it out and get that midnight, or you can get a necklace and be happy with it. The problem with tokens now is that they lack consistency, whereas before the “more rewards” update you could do all three daily challenges and get a consistent 150 tokens every time. Even if rec room brought that back with the amount you get being lower I think it would still make the community allot happier.
I totally agree with this video. Its sad to see new players grind in paintball to just be awarded 10, 25 or 50 tokens. There should be a default option so you can receive tokens instead of player cosmetics. I think it’s extremely greedy of recroom to price items so high that the average player would have to pay REAL money in order to purchase something they like. RecRoom goes against their own saying “We value long term relationships than making a quick buck”. Although recroom is free to play, it seems like u have to pay to really have fun 😢
Sadly nobody will ever do anything about this problem unless recroom itself does something about this. People will still price their stuff 250r+, as the "middle" and "higher" classes are the most profitable
I love how my dude just started spitting facts about digital economics, and I am absolutely here for it. Something that just annoys me that us lower class don't have any benefits. We can't sell anything, it's like a one-in-a-million chance for you to actually be able to GET tokens from the reward boxes, and everything is overpriced. It just isn't fair imo :/
i've been playing rec room 5-4 years now and I couldn't agree more, I remember making 250 to 500 tokens for playing dodgeball and I got it pretty consistently but now when i grind because i don't have enough actual money to climb to the middle class I've been in the lower class for years grinding my butt of just to get a measly 400 or 300 tokens after 5 hours, I hate it so much,I don't remember the last time I crossed the 10k freshold, just recently I bought a pack for 9.99 that gave me 7.5 k tokens and already I'm starting to feel like I'm spinning seeing how everything is so expensive that I just want to keep my tokens mostly because I could buy 1 or 2 good things with that much, I hope they change this soon.
This might sound a little cheesy, but there should be a check in/calendar rewards system so that every day you get tokens, and the more times you log in you get more. However, if you are a new user or returning user (last online months ago), you get more tokens then the average check in, more like a new account check in. Also with the fact there is a chance that you can’t even get a box with any tokens and there is a glitch where it’s impossible to get tokens from activities

I somehow knew you'd comment on this video correcting minor inconsistencies in the history section haha. tokens were added quite a bit later than I thought they were. for the cashing out thing, I really just think it would be best if being a partnered creator worked like being a video partner and your balance in rec.net just slowly filled over time with value equal to how many tokens you're selling and you could choose when to cash it out, skipping the tokens step entirely. if people want to get tokens in game instead then they can just choose to spend that money back on tokens. I can't really think of an effective way to message that it's probably the best idea to cash out your tokens so I think just skipping tokens is the best bet. and yeah, I get that this isn't exactly a RR exclusive thing and that balancing this stuff out is hard. the main point of this video really is just that the balance just doesn't feel like its favoring free to play players right now as much as it maybe should be. just thought it'd be fun to discuss it and how we got to this point. and don't worry, the next one of these more specific topic deep dive videos I have planned is about costume/clone maps if it's still a relevant topic by that point.
The thing with me is that i play rec room enough and have low enough standards that i can pretty easily buy any item in the rec room shop without real money or making rooms
It's really scummy the way they increased the lowest amount of tokens you can price inventions so now not many free to play players can get dorm skins and also because dorm room skins are now going for 1500 when they used to be like 500 for a really good one
I have an idea. What if we have two currencies( like you suggested) and one currency is what you get for every game that you play and then you can buy things with that currency but things would be more expensive. You can also exchange that currency into tokens but it would be less of what you had originally.
For me this might be going too far , I have not made an account and rec room yet but I feel for every box people get in rec room every game you win there should at least be a box with at least between 50 and 100 tokens would make it a lot easier for the free class to earn tokens there would be less bakers and in my opinion the game will be more enjoyable to everyone
Unfortunately around 90% of bigger game developers are like this, because the (most likely) hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars that they own, isn’t enough for their liking. I as a game developer, would prefer knowing that others really enjoy my game that I made, rather than making livings off of it and making the community unhappy.
@@Mr.NobodyOfficial well I appreciate your modest ideals as a game dev. It’s not just the devs decisions. i miss when doing the daily was an easy 50 tokens 10 for each challenge 20 for all the challenges not as lucrative but still more than you earn nowadays from like 10 games of paintball
The market will sort this out. Because prices on commodities are too high, an industrious entrepreneur will lower their prices and get increased sales. The problem is that you've got the creator economy discord you mentioned literally price fixing (which would be illegal in a real market).
The funny thing is that people with RR+ will make it HARDER for the class structure to be erased. Think about it. If there’s a 10% discount on items for people with RR+, making items more expensive will just cause a bigger discount. Having RR+ and buying a film will cost 18 tokens, whereas without RR+ it will cost 20 tokens. Pretty minuscule difference, right? Now when you look at the Amulet of Elsewhere, buying it with RR+ is 18 000 tokens, but if you don’t have RR+ you have to pay an extra 2 000 tokens! If we want the class structure to be erased, rec room is gonna have to take away the feature that keeps half the people in the game playing, and that definitely is NOT going to help the playerbase.
I think the 2 currency idea actually might work because you could make tokens the same value as it always had been and then make the “premium tokens” the same value as 100 normal tokens. Then you could convert some/all your premium tokens or tokens to normal tokens/premium tokens
Idea: Just give free-to-play players earnings, just, like, 10% as much as rr+ members. It would drastically fix the problem rec room is currently facing right now.
A big part of the problem is that Rec Room takes 30% of weekly earnings which is causing creators to increase the price for inventions and keys. For example I made 8000 tokens from keys and I only got 5600. I'm fine with them taking a percentage of my tokens the issue is is how much they're taking.
I think they should definitely make the pay out feature and making a diffrent non premium currency seems fine it’ll just be worth less so u need more then tokens so if u get engouth they’ll have the same values (ide say like at minum 100 per box)
It’s kind of sad that Rec Room is like this, in order to earn tokens from games that you worked hard to make, you have to *pay* them in order to earn *(digital)* currency, which is really messed up, so, no matter what you try to do, unless you pay Rec Room with *REAL* MONEY, you will rarely be able to afford *ANYTHING* that you want.
I mean the 2 different currencies could work if all the items accepted them, like for example, if you’re trying to buy a bubbly the free currency might make it 1000 but the currency people have paid for could make it worth 300 for them.
you know the value button what if free-to-play players can get rid of that item and get the tokens back but there is a down-side if a player has a lot of films they can cash that out and get like a lot of tokens
I felt like I’ve been the only one saying that everything is expensive, they just want people to play their game as much as they can make you. They are just money hungry creators, just like most game sites
like fr i've been playing for years almost lvl 50 and what do i have? less than 2k tokens, and i dont even spend them as much, every now and then 100, but that's like once every 3 months
I'm on lower class myself who's hobby is token grinding. I was lucky enough to earn 900 tokens within a couple of days. Now I'm literally broke and only have 111. It's almost impossible to grind these days. It's been a week since I managed to get a box that had a token option. I am extremely frustrated rn because of that
Alright so recrooms goal was to be a accessable game for all ages to "enjoy." but it supports the fact of pricing items at high costs and make tokens rlly rare. Like I don't want a 350 token worth necklace I want 350 tokens to spend on what I want and I don't even want to change my avatar I enjoy being Walter white
Me personally, I only bought enough to get an outfit im happy with which was like 1k tokens and i don't really plan on buying more as i find the things that i can do with tokens not worth it.
Quick reason everything is expensive, Rec Room has so many RecTubers that they buy a lot of tokens and gift a lot and buy and keep buying, so that’s the reason.

I'm fine with them taking a percentage of my tokens the issue is is how much they're taking.
rec room classism fucking hell what happened to this game man😂😂
Can you make a video about Rec Room Studio, I would love to here your opinion on it.
Something else i think is why have the value of outfits from boxes when you cant sell them
Let's thank BVr for his hard work
I think they should definitely make the pay out feature and making a diffrent non premium currency seems fine it’ll just be worth less so u need more then tokens so if u get engouth they’ll have the same values (ide say like at minum 100 per box)
BVR: "this is a serious problem."
also BVR: has over 4 million tokens
So he's in upper class...
This is so true, i play rr for like 1 hour and thirty minutes - 3 hours a day and i have 50 tokens, and i NEVER buy anything
When will we be able to sell and trade limited items as seen in Roblox?
Man, this video definitely showed Rec Room. They totally didn’t make the problem 10 times worse.
Fun fact if you have 50 m tokens you have 100 k dollars
uhh im nearsighted and that does not come into play in vr, so I don't know what they are doing with those
hello bvr, i honestly feel like the inflation of rec room tokens is a serious matter and should honestly be dealt with by the rr staff
They're too scummy, they just want the money
I love the part with the tokens and the gun
250$ minimum invention price is exactly this
ive discussed this in showdown, had a good conversaiton.
new video!!! im excited to watch
Me too
I’m 14, and I hate seeing people like 7-16 just paying stuff with tokens and not putting it into real money😢
My net worth probably couldn’t buy the Amulet of Elseware.
We love you BVR
I mean the 2 different currencies could work if all the items accepted them, like for example, if you’re trying to buy a bubbly the free currency might make it 1000 but the currency people have paid for could make it worth 300 for them.
Nah the game would be even more divided
But all the items still accept the free currency and the paid one. The lower class just has to wait a couple of days to receive enough tokens
it takes having 8 tokens to understand real drip 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😩😩😩🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
1 token is too expensive for me, Rec Room hire this man
Just either make tokens more common or always give a token reward in a box
you know the value button what if free-to-play players can get rid of that item and get the tokens back but there is a down-side if a player has a lot of films they can cash that out and get like a lot of tokens
I felt like I’ve been the only one saying that everything is expensive, they just want people to play their game as much as they can make you. They are just money hungry creators, just like most game sites
IM HALF MIDDLE CLASS BECAUSE I HAVE RR PLUS I JUST DON'T SAVE
HOW DO I TURN OFF CAPS
When I went to rec con, the keytaur was 15,000 rec room tokens. THAT IS SO F*CKING EXPENSIVE
They make lens for oculus quest 1?
like fr i've been playing for years
almost lvl 50 and what do i have? less than 2k tokens, and i dont even spend them as much, every now and then 100, but that's like once every 3 months
I wish they let creators who couldn't get recroom plus could still get token from rooms they work on
Me personally, I only bought enough to get an outfit im happy with which was like 1k tokens and i don't really plan on buying more as i find the things that i can do with tokens not worth it.
To be honest just get a bunch of the low tier items from box and work up and then you’ll just get a bunch of tokens
They need to make it so u can sell ur stuff like 90% of my items i dont use and could sell and earn a couple thousqnd tokens
Be wave do the have cardboard headset?
Quick reason everything is expensive, Rec Room has so many RecTubers that they buy a lot of tokens and gift a lot and buy and keep buying, so that’s the reason.
