      did you find the scpi commands?
      looking at the software package right now, and notice a word doc.
      "ET54 series -programmable dc electronic load - SCPI agreement" (47 pages about SCPI protocols)
      so if you still missing it, say so and I will upload it.
      Btwwhen you refer to "non standard USB port".. its only the fact that its an USB-A male cable to a USB-A male cable, that you classify as non standard, as many testgear users USB-B females socket, and not a USB-A female socket?.
      I was thinking about moving the USB port to the front and exchanging that USB-A socket for a female TypeC 4pin socket, and was a little unsure now - when you referred to it as a non standard USB interface, and if there was some special pin-out in play and I would run into problems?
      its simply +, gnd, data+ and data- ..?
      thx for the best test and walkthrue of this easttester programmable electronic load, I have seen on RUclips, well done.

      @@JAKOB1977 i would replace the usb port with a rs232 / ttl serial port instead, usb is not very convenient internally its just a usb to serial chip

      @@gamerpaddy I dont have any RS232 cables... all my testing gear uses USB..My scope, my 2x KOrad PSUs, My FY6900 DDS, my 3 spectrum tools.
      and this USB A female socket is as standard as it gets in 2022..
      as I would guess the most common cable people have, are in fact a "USB-A male to a TypeC male cable", as it comes packed with pretty much all now a days.
      so just take that USB-A into the load and the TypeC into your laptop or PC where pretty much all compute gear now a days have USB C.
      I would move USB socket to the front and then It would make sense to make it TypeC also as then its TypeC to TypeC.
      I gave you an offer, about uploading the whole scpi commands for the 54 series East Tester, as you expressed an interests into them, but it seems that offer went over your head, or maybe you don't need it anymore or already got them.?
      its an doc of 46 pages from east tester that are found in there software zip package.

    Thank-you very much for taking the time to do this video. The user interface on this unit is not the most friendly. I was wondering how to get it out of Low mode so I could discharge at 40a and bam you covered it in your video. Thank-you. The manual was no help.

    I ordered the single channel model mainly for battery capacity testing.

    Good review! I appreciate the teardown at the end. One thing I have found is that some of these electronic loads introduce noise into the system, but the scope trace looked clean... that issue with noise is what has kept me from gettin one of these low cost loads. But, I need to get one with battery and LED test modes... or program my Keithley SMU to do it, which would be a bit of work.

    • @Nicolas-ir9xy
      @Nicolas-ir9xy Год назад

      Hey, not an expert, just possible ideas I read regarding this:
      Common mode noise? Maybe use a differential probe or two channels on your scope. (there are some inexpensive chinesium diff. probes on Amazon that work alright)
      Mains related? Perhaps if you swap the switch-mode supply it comes with for a better quality one, should be simple to mod.
      Also mains related? Use an isolation transformer?
      Yeah I'm also looking for ways to mod these since they're pretty inexpensive.

    The one thing that concerns me is the lack of an external voltage sense. I could measure the resistance of all my wires and correct the voltage values, but that is a pain.
    Is there any way to add an external voltage sense?
    Is there software and a command reference for the serial communications and can you log the data to a PC?

      For me, this is a positive thing. Because I would like to see the voltage drop on the long wires when repairing an old car. The 5410+ allows you to see what voltage is at the input of the wire and what voltage is at the output. Seeing the voltage drop is exactly what I need.

    каналы гальванически развязаны ?
    т.е. можно ли их включать последовательно и параллельно ?

    • @gamerpaddy
      @gamerpaddy  4 года назад

      (Я не говорю по-русски в переводе)
      Они не могут быть размещены параллельно правильно, может быть, если вы делаете это вручную, но у них нет внутренних настроек для параллельного подключения.
      То же самое с серией. Я еще не пробовал.
      каналы гальванически развязаны. в цифровом виде через оптоизоляторы и питание через обмотки трансформатора.
      Я редко использую полные 200 Вт, но в некоторых случаях я использовал два канала, например, батареи, для проверки емкости.
      Так что это зависит от того, зачем он вам нужен.
