Thank-you very much for taking the time to do this video. The user interface on this unit is not the most friendly. I was wondering how to get it out of Low mode so I could discharge at 40a and bam you covered it in your video. Thank-you. The manual was no help.
Thank you for this video. The dealer shipped me a unit (I'm in the U.S.) that was programmed in Chinese. Even the instructions were in Chinese. So I had no way of knowing how to reset it until I found your video. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the review and especially the tear down. I ordered the single channel model mainly for battery capacity testing. I plan to use with the software so I can document the capacity and the discharge curves.
Good review! I appreciate the teardown at the end. One thing I have found is that some of these electronic loads introduce noise into the system, but the scope trace looked clean... that issue with noise is what has kept me from gettin one of these low cost loads. But, I need to get one with battery and LED test modes... or program my Keithley SMU to do it, which would be a bit of work.
Hey, not an expert, just possible ideas I read regarding this: Common mode noise? Maybe use a differential probe or two channels on your scope. (there are some inexpensive chinesium diff. probes on Amazon that work alright) Mains related? Perhaps if you swap the switch-mode supply it comes with for a better quality one, should be simple to mod. Also mains related? Use an isolation transformer? Yeah I'm also looking for ways to mod these since they're pretty inexpensive.
The one thing that concerns me is the lack of an external voltage sense. I could measure the resistance of all my wires and correct the voltage values, but that is a pain. Is there any way to add an external voltage sense? Is there software and a command reference for the serial communications and can you log the data to a PC?
For me, this is a positive thing. Because I would like to see the voltage drop on the long wires when repairing an old car. The 5410+ allows you to see what voltage is at the input of the wire and what voltage is at the output. Seeing the voltage drop is exactly what I need.
