Been a shinedown fan since I was 15 y/o, during which a 15 year run of addiction began. Their music pulled out of some really dark lonely places. Now I'm a 32 year old, recovered addict, and minister of the Gospel and still love me some Shinedown. I've always used their music to inspire others to be true to who they are regardless of others opinions and what's popular, that there's not enemy more terrifying than the one inside, but with resilience, determination, and a whole lot of work you can defeat the giant. "She talks to angels" was a song my brother used to sing to me within year prior to his suicide which began the long journey to redemption for me. Cant believe it took me years to stumble upon this. Congrats on the Smith & Myers debut guys and Attention! Attention! was ahhhhh-mazing. Keep doing what you guys are so awesome at. Be blessed! 🤙you have been giving a very influential platform to inspire and strengthen others to overcome the darkness fighting to take them out... go for it. The best is yet to come.
I've been connected to Shinedown since I was 19, a freshman in college. They have gotten me through so much. I identify as a left-handed Michael. Nicholas, I think, even is the left-handed Michael name. I feel like I am a Michael spirit the same as a spawn of Satan would know it's identity. As such, I feel strongly Michael hearted when I listen to Shinedown (Seether is another Michael hearted one). Shinedown has always been my go to music when processing through major times of anger I've faced. I love these guys for it. 🖤🤬🤒🤩😆👍🏻
Brent Smith has the most amazing vocals I've ever heard. His voice gives me goosebumps; it's so powerful. There is so much feeling and passion behind every words he sings to where you can feel it. I can listen to him sing the scientific method and become instantly and absolutely captivated and taken away by his voice❤ He will forever be my favorite artist along with the overall band that is, Shinedown.🤘
The Shinedown acoustic tour was one of the absolute BEST shows I've ever seen! I was impressed that the Wilmington Opera House still stood after that night! :D
I was just letting the playlist play. I just started thinking about one of my friends, David. I stopped noticing the music. I was trying to stop thinking about him because I was about to cry. He died when he was 9. I was 8. right as I was about to go inside and close my laptop, this song came on. This song means so much to me because I have witnessed first-hand TWO mothers lose their children. Incredible performance. Thank you.
On hubby's tablet atm but needed to share this with you, I had the unique pleasure to see The Black Crows open for Heart in Philly... Brent sings this so great I feel like this is better than the original
I could not agree more ! Brent and Myles are by far the BEST rock vocalists on the planet at this present time !! I model my own vocals after them and aspire to be just as good.
I'd love to walk into a bar sometime and just see them sitting there playing a covers acoustic gig. Makes me reminisce on that Rockstar movie with Marky Mark. Brent has some mad mic skills ... just an amazing artist.
I got to meet him before he was famous,in his old band Dreve. I told him one night he would be famous, and I hit it right on. Waiting on royalty payments as we speak.
My wife and i got to see them awhile back at The Sports Column in Denver. It was a small, intimate set with Brent and Zach. That was amazing!! Then we saw Shinedown later that week!!
19yrs #1Shinedown Fan & Yes I'm In Love With BRENT And You Sing This Song Like An Angel& God Knows I Believe In All Angels. I'm going to tell You What We Are So Fortnite To Have Shinedown Because When I See And Hear You I ShineUp💯💕🙏😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

rip mom, she loved brents singing and loved shinedown. i wish i could take her to see shinedown one last time, just one. i wish i could see her again i really do i miss her so much. but listening to you guys reminds me shes not in pain anymore. much love
+The Boss Legendary HaloDoubleKill Me too Sissy...yes, all of their songs are great but I am looking forward to the future also...Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
That is okay. Some celebrate some don't, but it isn't so much about the holiday but just being with family & eating certain foods, believe me if I could only get lucky enough to visit the UK, i would be in heaven:)
So this song right here... The mother of my youngest two daughters had a little boy. Tragically she woke up one morning when he was 2 months old and he was no longer with us. He died in his sleep. A little boy's mother.. My ex she's an addict. When I heard this... I cracked. Just hearing the line... There's a smile when the pain comes.. The pain you're going to make everything all right.. yeah I was inadequate one time too. That pain is from the prick of a needle. That smile that comes.. It comes because you damn well know that in a few short seconds it's not going to hurt anymore. Nothing's going to hurt anymore. I don't listen to this song very often. But God bless these boys for covering this.
Thank you boys! Pulled me out of some Very dark times during my 8 year addiction too & was a big part of bringing me out of it, I listen to it every single day now, part of my rehab routine! Clean & sober for 6 months now, thank you for being a part of it for me ❤
You gotta love how he keeps it about the music. He has a powerful voice but never over does it, as if to boast. It's never more than what the song is/calls for. It's all about the music.
How do you nail every artist man you rock.. Brent you and your band rocks and nails each song you are recreating cannot wait to get this cd.. You just rock
such a painful song. loss of a child , an addiction that depression brings and the joy in the pain that comes . I can totally understand.. R.I.P Apollo 2015
To have such talent and still remain true to the original artist. It's not hard to give credit and these gentleman give and receive it with grace and compassion. That's what I look for in my music. Lessons....
Been clean this time for three years. I get weak sometimes. My son sent me this version and I love it. This has always been my song. To all who struggle I pray you find peace
One MORE thing that makes Shinedown SO Amazing is just how down to earth & honest they all are! Be it the duo, acoustic, or all 4 of my favorite musicians, the humility, the effort, the gratitude they express is how I feel to be able to enjoy there music! That's what I call a win, win. They have talent, skills & a gift. This is a special band (at the risk of sounding like a sap sucker but if your a fan, that needs NO explanation!) The passion, dedication & effort they bring everytime, the most normal, not normal, insanely famous rock stars, that truly put a 110% into everything they Bring us! This (The 4 gentleman that make up Shinedown) IS a gift! From my perspective at least. (That's not meant to offend anyone.)
Seen them at a real small venue in Delaware on their Smith &Myers tour and it was really cool- Brent came off the stage to take pictures with fans during a solo. I thought it was awesome. Very fan friendly band .
I had this song dedicated to me so many times after my son died. So many people said it could of been written about me. I love this cover … deeply sung. Now my daughter died is there any song now that is fitting.
I love to listen to Brent, but I wish I could have as much passion for my job as Zach Myers seems to have for his. Love you both. BTW you down votes can jam it.
I've written so many songs in this open tuning.. Such a wonderful cover that has once again inspired me to pick up my guitar and write. Keep it real Smith and Myers!!!
I certainly don't go around very often saying that covers are better than the original. However... With the Smith and Myers albums... I've been saying that an awful lot lately. First it was in the air tonight by Phil Collins. These guys perform it much better than Phil in my opinion ever has or ever will. And now... This song. She talks to Angels...Good God. The mother of my youngest two daughters she had a little boy. He was two months old when she woke up and he was dead next to her. She relapsed right back into fentanyl and heroin usage and methamphetamine. She's never come back. I'm amazed she's still alive to be honest with you. And every time I hear this song all I can think about is her. She does wear a cross around her neck she does have a locket but it doesn't have his hair in it it's got some of his ashes in it. And for those of you that don't understand about what he means with the lyrics..."yeah there's a smile when the pain comes... The pain's going to make everything all right".... He's talking about needle use. Drug addiction. That's exactly what he's talking about. I mean it's kind of a simple one. Hit yourself in the vein there's a tiny little pinch and then nothing after that... I wish I could say I didn't know from experience. But fortunately I did make it out. 5 years clean coming up this January 5th. 2025. No relapse. No abusing any substances at all. But I'll tell you what... Even though with me kicking the chemicals was the easy part.. The fucking hard part has been the emotional and psychological shit. They warned us in rehab. They told us that you'll get out and everything will be great but they will come a time where that emotional fucking freight train is going to roll into the station. And you better be ready for it. Yeah I'm still unpacking 35 years of God only knows what. One step at a time. The music helps. And for those of you that like these guys go check out the band called poets of the Fall. Just go watch the entire Alexander theater sessions album on RUclips. Humor me. Stop reading this and go watch it.
Love ALL those people slash is another fav. I just like Zach's style when playing acoustic its an odd opinion check out his other acoustic songs too this is just an easy cover look at his originals. but thanks yes there are TONS of others
Just gotta say, you were Tylers favorite band, so every time I hear yall.... it makes me feel like hes here again... and he never passed. Thanks for the peace.
PERFECTION!!! Love the original, but the Shinedown touch just adds so much. Chris Robinson had a great voice to do this song, but I think it was really written for you Brent.
I've said that to my friends before... Brent Smith brings it with every performance & he could put melodic beauty into anything he says... including a phone book.
Brent if u ever want to let me sit on the couch next to u guys and u all play I don't think I'd ever want it to end. shinedown been favorite since 2004. hope u come back springfield mo. me and the Ole lady were the 2 crazy middle aged folks rocking non stop the whole show we was on ur left upper section u could hear the Ole lady I know hahah keep rocking fellas
Love to see them do it. Might not be everyone's choice but avenged sevenfold did a cover of that song and it's with a listen. As the lead guitarist is one of the best out there.
We saw shinedown in November in Peoria, IL. They are by far one of the most talented groups out there. Not to mention Brent's voice is one of the best I've ever heard..
i think i commented last week on this, but since then, and at 5 40 am now, it seems Bretts strong and amazing voice may be TOO strong for this particular softly belted ballad. this is in no way an insult or even a dislike, no way! cause the men of SHINEDOWN ROCK!
I've seen Brent Smith several times in concert with Shinedown, but he's purely at his best when he's just jamming out in a room with a guitar and a Mic. I'm sure he did Chris Robinson proud with this version! Outstanding!!

I love Shinedown. The love of my life introduced me to them when I was 59. Imagine that.❤️🔥
Six years as a Shinedown fan and Brent can still give me chills. I could listen to that man sing the dictionary.
Oh yes he can sing to me anytime
He could sing a song describing poop and i would be like, hell yea.
My soul cries when I hear his voice.

A guitar is such an emotional weapon....nice job guys.
I play guitar and found the mood I'm in reflects on how I play and sound...a release of whatever energy I have too much of....too cool...
Beautifully said! It’s like it can convey in sounds the emotions that we can’t express or put into words.

You truly realize what a guitarist's ability is when they can pull off this as acoustical.

"She Talks To Angels"
She never mentions the word addiction
In certain company
Yes, she'll tell you she's an orphan
After you meet her family
She paints her eyes as black as night now
Pulls those shades down tight
Yeah, she gives a smile when the pain come

Says she talks to angels
They call her out by her name
Oh yeah, she talks to angels
Says they call her out by her name
She keeps a lock of hair in her pocket
She wears a cross around her neck
Yes, the hair is from a little boy
And the cross is someone she has not met
Not yet
Says she talks to angels
Says they all know her name
Oh yeah, she talks to angels
Says they call her out by her name
She don't know no lover
None that I ever seen
Yeah, to her that ain't nothin'
But to me, yeah me
Means everything
She paints her eyes as black as night now
She pulls those shades down tight
Oh yeah, there's a smile when the pain comes
The pain gonna make everything alright

You should do a cover of "Just Let Her Cry" by Hootie & The Blowfish!!! I know I'm not the only one that would love to hear it!
Omg, I can see this in my mind and my heart ! 🌞🌞🌞
Beautiful!
Sometimes LOVE last But sometimes it doesn'tguy

I've wanted to hang or maybe do Lil pre partying and post partying with this band for ever. They don't have a bad song
great job Zack and Brent !you guys rock .It has been said great musicians can make anything their own ,You two own this one!
Shinedown ... can you do Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here"?
Love to see them do it. Might not be everyone's choice but avenged sevenfold did a cover of that song and it's with a listen. As the lead guitarist is one of the best out there.
We saw shinedown in November in Peoria, IL. They are by far one of the most talented groups out there. Not to mention Brent's voice is one of the best I've ever heard..
Pretty soon, every one of these covers will have over 1 million views.
i think i commented last week on this, but since then,
and at 5 40 am now, it seems Bretts strong and amazing
voice may be TOO strong for this particular softly belted ballad.
this is in no way an insult or even a dislike, no way! cause the men of SHINEDOWN ROCK!
fuckin nailed it brents voice is flawless
I've seen Brent Smith several times in concert with Shinedown, but he's purely at his best when he's just jamming out in a room with a guitar and a Mic. I'm sure he did Chris Robinson proud with this version! Outstanding!!
The pain gonna make everything alright.
When i wind down for the day, i listen and watch shinedown on RUclips. Especially Sound of madness
Love it!
;)
Brent has such a good, calming voice,so if he ever want he could sing the phone book and still make an amazing song.
One of my favorite songs, one of my favorite bands = Like button.
