To comment on the bass. I found no matter if I was hooked up high level or the rca outputs; i was having to turn my subwoofers gain knob over 3x the level i usually set it to. And it still was barely enough. So im not sure why or what is going on there, i can only report what I hear. Now you switch to a fosi v3 or za3 and the bass signal is so strong you have to turn my gain down more than usual lol. At least the fosi does put out a bass signal.
Even though this does bother me to a degree and i hope they address the issue; what this unit does for me SQ wise. Makes it my choice easily.
Now if you are running something like my vintage klh model 17 speakers. Which has a warm midrange and has kittle to no treble extension. Then something like the fosi units are fine. That glaring and harsh treble doesn't come through. You throw the fosi units on a highly revealing speaker like the mark audio viotti one speakers that I have. Which is a bright speakers. Absolutely do not use a fosi unit. I tried for close to 3 days to keep it in my system to break it in and just couldn't do it. My ears hurt soooo bad. All the benefits the fosi za3 has like a quieter background which allows you to hear more detail is a complete moot point because you cant hear and appreciate anything due to the treble.
The douk h7 pro actually improves my treble region. Which is not something that amps do often. Even amps costing $1000's. So for an amp that only costs $130 was a BIG surprise!

Now I know why I don't like my Elac speakers with the V3. I tried SMSL oa200mkII and it was only marginally better in the highs.
I'm hoping to find an amp that really works well with the DBR62 speakers.
On a tight budget. I really am willing to spend up to $1000 Canadian for a power amp. Sadly, that really isn't much and more like $500 USD. Seems like most of the real good budget amps have to be imported, making them less of a bargain here in Canada.

Many different chipsets, the best cheap ones use tpa3255 in some form. And they sound fine from 70hz up @ 8ohm load, I built one(2,monoblock) use good subwoofer. Diy with good drivers and you will see.

  • @impuls60
    @impuls60 4 месяца назад +1

Less bass might be a clue, maybe smaller series caps on the input shaving off some bass. That will help the psu immensly since most power is in the bass. These things comes with weak psu and if you connect this to a low sensitivity high end speaker, (84-87db) you'll be dissapointed. These speakers only have decent output into 3-6ohm. A 360w-600w psu, 4 ohm speaker and 90db+ these things works so much better.

    • @abxaudiophiles
      @abxaudiophiles  4 месяца назад +1

Yeah, they work much better on higher-sensitive speakers, for sure. The issue is that typically, those types of speakers are more resolving in nature and quickly share the shortcomings of these types of amps. But, overall, in the price point, this is the best one we have heard so far. :)

Fosi is coming out with V3 mono-blocks
That is the perfect application for the V3s
Fosi is also coming out with something that will be game changing and will shake up the value amp market

@@abxaudiophiles Fosi has an amplifier in the pipeline that will disrupt the market
Wait and see. Not a chip amp. Let’s see how they do with it.

    • @abxaudiophiles

@@middleearthltd I am sure it will be great. Most of the FOSI stuff is really good at its price point for sure. :) One thing I have come to realize is these "Giant Slayers" or "Unicorn" units really don't exist. There is typically value at the price point in most things produced these days. Some things slightly edge out others at the same price point in different ways. But overall the overarching theme and experience I have had, is that you get what you pay for in this hobby, and it is a 100% pay to play space if you want true Hi-Fi... There is no budget entry ticket. Not that you can't get great sound from some of these products, because I most certainly have. But, they are typically worth the money and easily bettered by spending 1/3 more the cost on something else, and for sure the used market. Another major thing to consider also, is longevity and life span of these ultra budget Chi-Fi components. I have already had a handful take a crap on me after only a few hundred hours of playtime. All things to be considered. But what a cool time we are in to have all of this crazy and cool stuff to choose from! And it is pretty neat that a person can get some cheap and decent sound in some of this budget gear! Really lays the ground work for people to be able to step into musical playback and start their journey towards true Hi-Fi sound. :)

@@abxaudiophiles I agree with you. I use none of the cheap China brand components in my system.
I would include Wiim in this group.
I can’t see building a worthwhile new system for much less than $3,500
Many, myself included waste $$$ on components that will have to be replaced
if you want decent sound quality….
Save and don’t waste the money on crap if you want decent sound quality
Listen to headphones on your phone and save your $$$
      An example
$400 NAD 316 Bee integrated amplifier
      $800 Orchard Audio Streamer DAC
$1,600 Zu Audio Dirty Weekend 6 - can get by with no sub and 95 sensitivity
$3,800 system all new that is worth keeping
Just an example of what one could save up for for a quality system and not waste money
Not my system, just an example
You could keep this indefinitely, many years, and be content

All of these trash can chifi class D amps are pure garbage. It’s as simple as that. Too many audio informers on RUclips can’t call them reviewers bc they definitely can’t do that, hype these like they are some god send game changer. They are shit plain and simple.

    • @abxaudiophiles
      @abxaudiophiles  4 месяца назад +4

Actually that’s 100% not true. I have multi thousands of dollar systems. I’ve sat down and listened to many and most of these cheap class D. For the price point, they’re not bad for some who wants to step into the game and doesn’t want to go used and is on a budget. They don’t sound as bad as your comments make them seem. And trust me, I wouldn’t own one, and am not influenced or compensated by any of the reviews we do… But these are far from Shit… will they last 5 years? Maybe. Could you do way better buying used? For sure!! 👍🏼

Live under your rock and dont grow and learn with us. Ive said the same thing about this stuff many times. I had to eat crow after hearing this one. Believe it or not i really don't care. We dont make money and line our pockets doing this. We have no incentive at all to hype products just for an affiliate link to make money. As you'll see we dont have affiliate links. All we do this for is because we love it and to raise money for childrens music programs.
So even with your opinion at least you're here watching the content, which in turn raises more money for the charity. So thanks!

@@legione1caponeyou must not have very good gear to compare these throw away amps to. They fall apart at 4ohm loads at average listening levels , maybe and that’s a big maybe it’s good for desktop system. But to even attempt to say it’s good is absolutely wrong. I know this channel doesn’t use affiliate links so save the doing good for good for someone else. I’ve donated tens of thousands to St.Jude anonymously. It’s frustrating to see all of these cheap amps being blasted all over the audio community the market is flooded with this garbage. Plain and simple they are not good. Here is a run down of my reference rig since you think you know better than me and make assumptions.
-Orchard Audio Pecan Pi+ dac/streamer powered by LPS and custom silver plated cable
      -Mogami 2549 balanced interconnects
      -Schiit Freya S preamp
-Orchard Audio starkcrimson ultra DMC 2.0 amp
-Mark Audio Sota Viotti one speakers
      -Belden 9497 speaker cable
-Definitive Technologies supercube 1 subwoofer (DIY silver plated high level cables)
-W Audio 3900 power conditioner (for smps devices)
-Antec BP1000 Isolation transformer (for main devices with internal PS)
-All power cables are pine tree audio isobraid and 1 monosound power cable
-1 network switch and a pair of fiber media converters
In the last maybe 3 months these are a few of the pieces of gear ive had in the house:
      Atoll SDA200
      NAD M33
      Orchard audio pecan pi+ premium
      Galion ts120
      Primaluna evo 300 hybrid integrated
      Dynaudio evoke 50
      A pair of diy subwoofers
      Douk audio F7 pro
      Fosi za3
      Fosi v3
      RSL 255.1
      Fosi mc101
Thats just the stuff i remember. Thanks to James i am able to play with this stuff every single day. How about you?
It may not sound good with 4ohm speakers. Luckily mine are a 6 ohm load. My speakers are not forgiving, they dont hide anything and are on the bright side of neutral. Most amplifiers i have heard even the primaluna evo 300 for instance at $7295 has a slight issue on the treble region for me that i can hear. Im very sensitive to it. When i say it sounds good whether you believe it or not. On my setup, with my gear, in my room. For the weeks that used that it did nothing short of impress me. Is it perfect no absolutely not. Im not claiming it is. What i am saying is it give me atoll sda200 vibes and that is a $4300 integrated. For me to even be able to reference the sound being similar to that is impressive to me.
EVERYONE THAT KNOWS ME, knows that i was not happy when james dropped off a big stack of cheap class D. I do not like them either and most of them pushed by reviewers are shit or just ok. This one is better overall than the rest. I ate crow in front of everyone in our discord as i was listening to this for the first time. This should not sound this good for only $130. Frankly they fix the bass issue and id double the price if i was them.
