    Hi Lia, thanks for sharing this, my wife and I will be staying at DOubletree at Sonaisali island starting at the end of this week and from the footage you've shot we can't wait! Wanted to ask - not sure if you know, we are torn between hiring external tour guides/cruises/trips versus getting the ones within Hilton (in the earlier part of your video). Would u recommend/know if we should just stick with the day trips to various islands etc snorkelling organised by Hilton? Or did u guys go ahead with external agencies? Thanks in advance. Also do u thinkit'll be better to rent a car to park at the resort or just use the taxis?

    • @LiaMuniz
      @LiaMuniz  Год назад +2

      Hi there,
      I am sooooo excited that you and your wife will be staying at the Doubletree Sonaisali island this coming week!
      As for hiring tour guides - I have actually done both. I have done it through the hotel in Fiji (although not Doubletree) and I have also organised external day tours while in Fiji (eg. Day tour by boat out to the islands including lunch). Both ways have been great. Usually if you book it through your hotel it may be slightly more expensive but it usually includes transfers to and from your hotel which is convenient.
      As for the car - I have not rented a car in Fiji as I have either had hotel transfers to and from the airport, taxis or I've also had private car transfers when I've been for work.
      Sonaisali Island is a bit further out. I remember when I booked my stay, the reservations staff said they could organise a car or airport transfers for me and they emailed me a form which had my flight details etc.
      Hope this info helps you.
      Have an amazing stay in Fiji!!!

      Hi there,
      Thanks for your comment.
      You might be able to see in the video when I show the deck area of my hut that looks out to the sea - there is a small white cement wall just in front of the water.
      You are able to swim but no one really does there. Where the swimming pool is located at the resort, on that side there are rocks so no swimming around there.
      What most people do when they go to Fiji is use the resort pool to swim, then take day trips out in the boats, go swimming out in the water and have lunch included. I've done a few of these and they are a fantastic day out!
      So exciting that you are going to Fiji and staying at the Double Tree by Hilton!!! It's such a fantastic resort.

    I check with trip advisor and people are saying the beach are unswimmable. Mud are ankle deep and when it is low tide in can reach to your calf area as it was situated in a mangrove before.

      Hi Tony,
      Most people that stay on the main Island are choosing to have a resort style vacation, swimming in the resort/hotel swimming pools.
      I have stayed at numerous resorts in both Denarau and Sonaisali Islands and I have seen people swimming. I personally have not. Instead, I have been out on day trips to other islands and have gone swimming there. For Fiji, it really depends on what style of holiday you would like. Thanks for your comment and for subscribing!

      Hi Sandy,
      Thanks for your question. I actually called the hotel today for you to see if the prices had changed since I was there when I recorded this video; they are still the same:
      All prices are in Fijian Dollars (FJD):
      - Full Buffet breakfast:
      FJD$46 per adult
      They have a pre-arrival special of FJD$38 per adult if you include it at the time of booking accomm.
      - Full Buffet Dinners:
      Each night at the restaurant there is a theme, different rates each night:
      Wednesday- Butcher's buffet - FJD$95
      Thursday- Flavours of India FJD$75
      Friday- Fiji Bula buffet - FJD$90
      Saturday- seafood buffet - FJD$95
      Sunday- Burger night - FJD$75
      Kids 4 - 12 years old are half price of adults.
      There is also an A la carte menu at the bar as well as a poolside menu with all day dining by the pool. Prices vary for these meals but range from about FJD$21 - $30 per meal.
      I will try to link a photo of the poolside menu I took so you can see.
      Hope this info helps you.

    • @LiaMuniz
      @LiaMuniz  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Dez,
      Thank you for your question.
      I booked directly over the phone via their reservations phone number on their website.
      It was the standard method to secure the booking - credit card to secure the booking and as always I made sure I knew the cut off date that I can cancel or modify the booking without penalties.
      I also included my Hilton Honors member number to ensure I received my hilton points.
      Check-in was really fast as they had all my details and hilton honors number already.
      They did require the standard $100 per night per room as bond that is not taken out of your account unless needed.
      As a side note, we also received the signature Hilton Welcome Warm Chocolate Chip cookie when checking in - a nice fun touch and start to our stay!
      (Plus the little boat ride from the main island across to Double Tree Hilton resort is so fun and a great start to the trip).

      @LiaMuniz  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Kathy,
      The Full Buffet Breakfast in the restaurant was included in my room package (which also had a continental selection).
      However, for a lighter breakfast option, the cafe which is located right next to the sntrance to the restaurant has Barista made coffees, teaa, smoothies and milkshakes, croissants, pastries and other snack items. I had the coffees from there most days while I was at the resort and it was great.
      Both are also right in front of the swimming pool area.
      Hopes this info helps you.

      Hi there,
      Thank you for your comment and question.
      I stayed at this resort in August. A fantastic time to spend in Fiji.
      As for the beach, as you can see in the video the water comes up close to the stone/rock wall that lines the resort.
      (You can see it in the part of the video that shows my oceanfront room).
      For most of Denarau Island and Sonaisali Island, the water that is by each of the resorts you can swim in but there is not much of a 'beach' with sand.
      I find that most people that go to the resorts in these parts of Fiji main island, they swim in the resort pools then they go out on day trips to other islands, where you can jump off the boats, swim in the ocean etc.
      I have done this on many of my trips to Fiji as I usually stay in Denarau Island or Sonaisali Island.

      Hi Traceylee,
      I think from memory I stayed in bure number 39. This was a direct oceanview bure as you can see from the video and it really was magical to watch the sunset each evening from my personal bure deck.
      For your reference, the other people I was travelling stayed in bure numbers 32 and 45.
      These were also full oceanfront bures - number 32 being a closer walk to the swimming pool/restaurant/bar and number 45 the furthest away.
      My bure was pretty much right in the middle.

      Yes, I had the buffet breakfast - it was included in my package.
      It is a full American style buffet breakfast with a mixture of full hot breakfast and continental items.
      Hot breakfast included eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes etc plus there were pancakes with maple syrup. There are also other hot cuisines from some indian food to rice and vegetables.
      Continental items included toast, jams, croissants, a selection of danish pastries and a gluten free selection.
      There were also a selection of yoghurts and fresh fruits.

    • @LiaMuniz
      @LiaMuniz  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Keith,
      Thanks for your question. It is one boat ride that lasts 2 - 3 minutes that takes you from the main island across the water to the Double Tree Hilton as this hotel is on its own island. So the jetty where you board the boat is right in front.
      For the ride from the airport to the hotel - I usually use the company Rosie Holidays for all my transfers to and from the hotels in Fiji.
      Go to www.rosieholidays.com and type in the hotel and it will give you a few options for transfers.
      There is also a direct service that the Double Tree Hilton provides - I will try to find the name and link it below.

      @jimmychen9082 Thanks for your question.
      I didn't book any transport this time. It took about 2 minutes to get a taxi from out the front of the airport.
      In case you are staying at the Double Tree by Hilton, here is the link they sent to me as they can organise transport for you:
      bit.ly/doubletreefijitransfers
      Once you arrive at the jetty in front of Double Tree by Hilton - the boat transportation runs 24 hours so you don't need to book anything. You are greeted with a bottle of Fiji water and a shell necklace as a welcome and it's a 2 minute boat ride across to the other side).
