They did an incredible duet. Sadly when she passed, not long after John had cancer in the jaw and had to have major surgery. He was very cut up by her death. He is known down here as THE VOICE. To get an inkling of John's talent, I would recommend you react to John singing Gethsemane from the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar the musical. This great Australian entertainer has a 'chameleon' voice; his ability to sing most genres, is world class.
At another concert John did the Beatles version first and then followed it with this version. John said this version came about because he was learning to play it on the piano.
@ It's not inaccurate at all to say he destroyed that song, Farnham selfishly used the song to high light his vocal ability totally disregarding Lennon's tempo/ urgency and melody. You don't Fk with a master piece.
It is said that John can sing any genre. From soul (When something is wrong with my baby), to rock (Black Dog) and even opera (Granada with Anthony Warlow) but one that stands out to me is Bridge over troubled water from way back in 1979 because it showcases how talented was even at a young age.
JF was in a long running stage musical with some other outstanding Aussie performers, John Stevens and Kate Cebrano included. When the musical was in full swing I remember an interview where they were all discussing the lengths they went to to protect their voices and how important it was to make sure they could perform at their best with the demanding performance schedule. John Farnham has been singing professionally since he was a teenager. He has had a lot of years by this stage in his singing career. He was know as the King of Pop for a number of years, even before 1980's. His peak came in the 1980's when he sang like this.

was never a big fan of his style of music, but he is definitely a tribute to aussie music and has such a great story from singing "sadie the cleaning lady" to being one of, if not, the biggest aussie star ever
I love a proper talented singer that has never seen this see it for the first time an understand what they are witnessing and how amazing John's voice is.....
We in Australia grew up listening to john and didn't know how exceptional he is.... it's just farnsey.... even he says he didn't understand the popularity because of his self criticism.... he is a national icon and very happy to still be with us after his protracted battle and recovery from mouth cancer....
Love ya John
He is the GOAT as far as Australia is concerned, John has also done some great duets, such as 'When something is wrong with my Baby' with Jimmy Barnes, and 'Please don't ask me' with Olivia Newton John. If you have not seen these do yourself a favour, but only do the live concert versions, you will not be disappointed.
He is The Voice we are so proud of him down here thanks for your praise of him ❤
I love your reaction to our John Farnham. The man sure can sing. I never get tired of listening to him. He is loved very much in Australia.
