The first installation of Bus Driver Assault barriers was in West Norwood in London in 2008 with over 400 Acrylic Assault Screens installed over one weekend, and yet some 16 years later Auckland Transport itself finally decides it's time to protect the stressed out Bus staff from aggravated passengers assaulting the Drivers
What I’m curious about now is how to deal with passengers who hop on without paying. It’s common to see the same old excuse of “oh sorry my card isn’t working, can I hop on?” or just running in without care. What, is the bus driver going to tell them they can’t go on? Like those people would listen.
Not just safety screens but some self protection gear as well :) As lot many dairy shop owners are immigrants who have also to support families back home :( Their families rely on them !!
Instead of putting these screens up, how about tackling crime itself instead of work arounds? Be harsher on crime and dumbasses would stop assaulting people.
Sad that this has had to be implemented in New Zealand.
Very 😢
meth fueled monsters everywhere.
go to europe its been the norm for ages, buses come like that when made,we are the idiots
Safe for the driver but what about passengers?

Exactly! In San Francisco and the wider Bay Area the bus companies had those screens installed years ago.
Yep. They've been busy wasting their money on other stuff. Well better late than never.
It started with the banks, some stores now have jail bars.

much rather fare evaders than bus drivers working in unsafe conditions
You can thank the government politicians for all this crime and who they let into our beautiful country..
I don't think immigrants were the ones making assaults in public transport? Get a grip man.
Well done Mr Brown
UK, have these.
This is New Zealand
@@ALxdCr4ftPlaysThey are not saying it is the UK.
@@ALxdCr4ftPlays NZ does things so efficiently😂🤣
Unfortunately dairy's need safety screens now.

Please examine and investigate Caeayaron and Suzanna Maria Emmanuel
yea there really is nothing good to say about the safety screens. it is extremely disappointing that they needed to be installed.

Anarchotyranny doesn't address crime, it needs crime to distract the public.
While I think this is a good move, those in power also need to address the undying cause.
Great to see!
Degradation, that's the word I'd use, to sum up our society.
Anarchotyranny is a more fitting description.
This is a Judicial issue, Judges are soft on criminals. If there are no consequences this is what you get
amazingly bad design. A perpetrator can simply reach in and open the door
Petrol stations next I guess.
2:14 Declined lmao
Not required in rural NZ, what's with city folk?
Only 50 years behind the rest of the world
