This is why the British thrashed you and ALL primitive tribes in battle (primitive in that you have no concept of infinity or calculus which unlocks higher engineering, science and technology). Maybe instead of fighting them try and emulate them and then maybe you too could have analogous success akin to an empire that was so vast that the sun never set on it.

Singing a WHITE POWER song at congress probably won't be welcomed as a funny meme, only the islanders can do that... Although you probably can find a few southern democrats singing Dixie now and then . . . They still have Confederate Flag parades in the south in some towns... Basically an open act of treason, but their claim is equal to the islanders - it's just culture, and free speech : 1st Amendment. Some how, state courts keep trying to ban flags / beliefs unconstitutionally against the Bill of Rights.
One of your best works yet, Andre. While some of your videos deal with their subject matter in a tongue-in-check way, this video is different and your respect for the Māori comes through so clearly. Amazing music and editing.
Cheers to Māori pride, their culture, what a joyous performance by this lovely lady in parliament, you can see it on each of their faces. Andre thank you for making it even more beautiful. That lady is really amazing, simply love her ❤. Hope NZ govt treats Māoris fairly.
I believe this is exactly why this Haka happened, because the NZ Gov was doing some crappy stuff that even the majority of the population are against. Iirc, it had something to do with making it easier to acquire Maori lands for mining purposes or something like that by, like, re-interpreting an old existing treaty. Someone form NZ can probably explain it in far more detail, so I hope they'll reply and elaborate. But it was definitely a scummy thing and unfair to the Maori people. I hope they are successful in their protest and I wish them all the best.

The same thing is happening with indigenous lands in Brazil. Mining companies are invading the Amazon and the government is doing nothing to stop indigenous people from losing their territories and no longer being able to hunt or fish.
This is definitely not what is happening in NZ. One of the parties wanted to clarify the Maori treaty and the Maori weren't having it because they are enjoying their special treatment.
@Gooses_Pond Ok. it's obvious that these are different things, it's impossible for both situations to be the same for obvious reasons: they are completely different places, in different parts of the world and people from different cultures too. I'm not sure why she gave that performance, but I think it's a lovely concept as it portrays people from different cultures, from the colonial past to the present, side by side. It's pretty lovely how the internet brings together various cultures to create something new in a weird and humorous way.
@@PetrichorEldritchFrom what I've been able to gather, one of the parties of the New Zealand government wants to change a treaty that protects sacred Maori lands so that mining companies can come in and take the natural resources. The Haka was in opposition to that change.
@@elijahharris1113 yeah basically. Both parties signed the treaty. It hasn't been perfect by any means, but it's better than what a lot of other indigenous populations got from their colonizers. You can't just ignore that - it's a contract. Either both parties mutually agree to dissolve it, or it stands until the end of our Nation. To add insult to injury we have a coalition (i.e. multiple parties came together to make up the majority vote) and it's not even the Prime Minister who's really pushing this bill, it's the leader of another party in that coalition (albeit he likely was given the green light by the larger party, as part of their coalition agreement, to do this). Thanks, Andre! As a proud New Zealander (Aotearoan) I really appreciate you're super creative way of highlighting this Maori protest against mining interests invading sacred land. Andre - your music has inspired me for years, and now I have another reason to love you!
An empire that raped, pillaged and ruined thriving societies far that were advanced far before Europeans arrived only for British to leave most of it because they didn’t find it suitable. @@Swybryd-Nation You have no idea what you are talking about. The British did not subjugate the Maori. There was no war between the two peoples as a whole. There was an agreement and a treaty. I believe this is exactly why this Haka happened, because the NZ Gov was doing some crappy stuff that even the majority of the population are against. how is this the same thing. You are sadly misinformed.
When I said that "the same thing" was happening to the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, the expected assumption would be that both peoples are suffering disrespect and neglect from the governments of their respective countries.

Woooah Goosebumps awesome!😍🤩
I love how the elders behind her are watching with approval.
So proud of this, their generation
The elder behind her, grinning with approval, is a whole vibe. The next generation is not lost!
it was planned, he is happy that its all going according to plan. Also Hana Rawhiti took the fall and got suspended not the other sheep who stood up with her so yeah they got what they want without repercussions ofc they would be happy.
All my respect to Mahori people and to the beauty oh Haka
Love it !! from Greece 🇬🇷💯❤️
This is Sparta✌🏾🌎
Haha you nailed it! Thanks for this. Brilliant. I hope Hana loves it too
This is AWESOME. Once again, you nailed it.
I keep watching this over and over this week. Convinced it has healing properties. Also I love how the only moment when old white dude is talking, electric guitar TALKS OVER HIM. Best use of a guitar solo I have ever seen.
Nothing like someone with mad evil eyes shouting at you "Emanate peace"
Gorgeous and deep creative art work. Thanks Andre 😊
Brilliant!!!! Kia Kaha. Stay Strong. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Court is adjourned until you can all behave like civilized human beings!"

They just slap. Period
