Probably because the plant's habitat and most likely it's number one consumption area is the complete opposite of what Brad was describing, so it was a bit of a stretch to imagine.
This is a different show compared to the regular it's alive with brad, hence why the editing is different. Although i do wish that this show had the same style.
For all of y'all who are gonna inevitably comment abt the Sotol guy's awkward vibe: not everyone is as used to cameras and being filmed as Brad. Chill. Don't judge the guy based on his on-camera stiffness. Even if he's just that awkward irl, let him live y'all. Lyxa well said. This isn’t the only channel that gets flack for its guests. Pretty soon no one is going to want to work with your youtubers because y’all so judgmental....
Yeah, exactly. He's fine. Brads not the easiest guy to vibe with either as a presenter I've noticed. He's a fun guy, but not necesairily good at taking charge and pushing the momentum of these forward. But Im not here for polished and professional content its youtube, it's all about the personality. These people need to chill and learn to laugh along with the awkwardness.
I agree. I think the dude just take his job very seriously, which is a good thing. You can tell he's proud of what they do, and rightfully so. I would love a tour from this guy.
Yeah I see a lot of comments about the guy being uncomfortable, but he just seems a little shy and soft spoken. He was laughing and joking with Brad a bit too. Idk he did not make it awkward in my opinion, you said it best.
@Stephen Morton You nailed it, for the exact reason why I got out of engineering after I finished my degree, lmao. Everyone seems lowkey upset all the time and even if it's no fault of theirs it should come as no surprise when people want to minimize their interaction.
I love this style of video. Is it the same as the old "It's Alive?" No, but it is beautiful in and of itself. That opening drone shot?!?! Come on, that wAS GOLD. Also the little sneaky reveal with the truck scene. SO GOOD. Brad always shines like the star he is, and a video does not always have to have wacky editing for it to be enjoyable.
Could really use the old editing :/. Nothing wrong with the new but the series was built on a certain back and forth of Brad talking to Vinny rather than the camera, and the editing highlighting the goofy moments that made us all click on the video. Without Matt’s editing style it’s still great, but not the same :(.
What are you talking about, he says Vinny like 30 times in the video... Did you really think Vinny edits the video? 😂😂😂 Try again when you know what you're talking about bub
Sylas the Great in no way did I hint that Vinny edits the videos, hence the comma between “Vincenzo” and “no”. Do I need to explain why commas are used?
Dang, I hope someone at Bon Appétit actually reads the comments and brings Matt back ( or explains the change so we all shut up).. I understand if they were trying to make all BA videos with the same editing but each chef has their own personality and the videos made prior to this month ALWAYS cracked me up and brought me joy, while also being extremely insightful. . YOU GOTTA GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, VIN!
I like the editing style of It’s Alive the most. That’s what brought me to this channel and got me to subscribe. I love Brad’s personality too. I hope the rest of this series can pick up that editing flair that highlights Brad’s best side. It’s highly entertaining.
Brad has just the greatest personality and is so wonderful with everyone he works with. When Ken says he wasn't expecting Brad to do such a good job on his first plant and Brad says he has a good teacher he always says things like that to the people teaching him. He is so humble and kind and hilarious. I love this series so much!
05:38 "Oh another pair of glasses! Why i have two pairs with me? Vinny, just play this scene in slow motion. It makes no sense, but it will look super badass! Yeah!"
Fun fact: the plant is like very not in the artichoke family. This plant Dasylirion wheeleri is most related to asparagus, and is a monocot. Artichoke is a Eudicot.
The Sotol guy is just very straight to the point and he doesn't seem like he is used to being on Camera. He did a good job, he helped Brad understand everything properly even if he didn't match Brads energy. Job well done!
Cool to see sotol harvesting and distillation process, but, the artichoke is in the Asteraceae family/Asterales order while the sotol is in the Asparagaceae/Asparagales order...not closely related plants at all
I actually loved this episode. The tour guide is low energy compared to brad but it really lends a more serious note to the episode. I got to learn of a product that is rare but full of heritage and culture behind it, its a native Texan and Mexican spirit similar to mezcal or tequila and its really cool to get to learn about it through Brad and this show. I appreciate learning about my heritage and culture through unlikely sources. Thank you Brad.
as a hard-core fan of the series it has felt very lackluster and more commercialized as of late since the editing style changed. Brad's personality and Vinny's cinematography is excellent as usual but both were enhanced by the former editing.
I think it was the Sotol guy, not so much the production. The other episodes in the season so far are fantastic - this guy was just so 1 dimensional and boring.
So much agree. Things have changed lately, for, in my opinion, the lesser. I love the free-style, improvised older videos. I like seeing them screwup their lines and laugh.

Probably because the plant's habitat and most likely it's number one consumption area is the complete opposite of what Brad was describing, so it was a bit of a stretch to imagine.
He didn't wanna deal with a drunk Brad 😂
Can we go back to the playful editing?
Vinny was keeping this channel alive ffs, BRAD AND VINNIE
This is a different show compared to the regular it's alive with brad, hence why the editing is different. Although i do wish that this show had the same style.
@@widdershins3476 vinny wasnt the editor tho!!
@@eeken4946 It's got nothing to do with it being a different show, it's a different editor.
@@xXLoonoeXx also recorded completely different, and there are actually producers now it seems.
For all of y'all who are gonna inevitably comment abt the Sotol guy's awkward vibe: not everyone is as used to cameras and being filmed as Brad. Chill. Don't judge the guy based on his on-camera stiffness. Even if he's just that awkward irl, let him live y'all.
Edit: Also, tbh, he didn't seem as uncomfortable as some of y'all down here are making him out to be, at least imo.
Brad’s machete skills are vastly improved over the cocoa harvesting episode!
I love this style of video. Is it the same as the old "It's Alive?" No, but it is beautiful in and of itself. That opening drone shot?!?! Come on, that wAS GOLD. Also the little sneaky reveal with the truck scene. SO GOOD. Brad always shines like the star he is, and a video does not always have to have wacky editing for it to be enjoyable.
jenkies you’re literally the only one who thinks this
"You made that a lot easier than i thought it was gonna be" Thats a funny way of telling a guy he's strong, lol
Could really use the old editing :/. Nothing wrong with the new but the series was built on a certain back and forth of Brad talking to Vinny rather than the camera, and the editing highlighting the goofy moments that made us all click on the video. Without Matt’s editing style it’s still great, but not the same :(.
Sotol guys head nods are giving my introverted self so much life 🤣
No Vincenzo, no quirky and funny edits, and the music was off for a vid with Brad. Brad is like a lone Avenger keeping this watchable lol
What are you talking about, he says Vinny like 30 times in the video... Did you really think Vinny edits the video? 😂😂😂 Try again when you know what you're talking about bub
@@SylasTheGreat it's not that serious, bub. I was watching during lunch break half paying attention lol
@@SylasTheGreat and no, where in the world did you get the idea that I thought Vinny edited?
@@Addison0526 from what you said... Lol is the context that hard for you to understand? I'll give you some time so you can understand
Sylas the Great in no way did I hint that Vinny edits the videos, hence the comma between “Vincenzo” and “no”. Do I need to explain why commas are used?
Ken: sotol
Brad: soatle
Dang, I hope someone at Bon Appétit actually reads the comments and brings Matt back ( or explains the change so we all shut up).. I understand if they were trying to make all BA videos with the same editing but each chef has their own personality and the videos made prior to this month ALWAYS cracked me up and brought me joy, while also being extremely insightful. . YOU GOTTA GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, VIN!
K Q Vinny works at binging with banish now.
@@miannaB Wait for real?
@@MandishFyre yep
@@miannaB vinny was never the editor tho
The editing style is different for "Goin' Places" and "It's Alive."
Brad seems to want to eat something slightly inedible in each new episode
Seriously. It's mildly poisonous until cooked properly.
I like the editing style of It’s Alive the most. That’s what brought me to this channel and got me to subscribe. I love Brad’s personality too. I hope the rest of this series can pick up that editing flair that highlights Brad’s best side. It’s highly entertaining.
"pretty much a haircut" as he violently hacks away at the sotol
So should I not be standing here?
No no you'll be fine.
Gets smacked by the door
Right there proves this guy had a sense of humor.
I miss the It's Alive intro jam but I'd go anywhere with Brad and Vinny
Vinny ain’t there anymore chief. New cameraman and new editors
Jarred Anderson 6:34
@Fen Karma he addresses Vinny in the video. Also, where is everyone getting this insider Vinny/Matt/Brad information?!
@@TheNosyarg13 Vinny's insta
@@TheNosyarg13 Reddit dude.
Brad going places is really just an excuse for Brad to eat everything he thinks/feels is edible. pellet, clay, sotol petal(?)
omg i didnt notice it until i read ur comment lol
he really does try to eat everything lol
As a Chef myself...
We really do try to eat everything.
Try anything once kids.
I love his reaction at 12:08 when Brad takes one sip, and compliments how good it is.
Woah, slow down there.
Haha. Brad just wanted that guy to break his seriousness and laugh.
05:38
"Oh another pair of glasses!
Shut it veggie nerd
you must be fun at parties
Thanks. Some of us like to know the right answer.
Packhorse Triumph VEGGIE NERD! I’m ded😂
Thats why Celsius makes sense. Water boils at 100°C, water freezes/melts at 0°C.
Alternate title: ENFP vs. ISTJ
🤣💯✔
lmao😂😂😂
The Sotol guy is just very straight to the point and he doesn't seem like he is used to being on Camera. He did a good job, he helped Brad understand everything properly even if he didn't match Brads energy. Job well done!
"Scorpions huh??" *leans face in super close
4:20 here we go again. Brad trying to eat anything that comes into his hands. Must've been a hard trip
Bring pottery guy along with you. The dynamic was 10/10
It's Alive felt very dead. Love Brad, though.
Cool to see sotol harvesting and distillation process, but, the artichoke is in the Asteraceae family/Asterales order while the sotol is in the Asparagaceae/Asparagales order...not closely related plants at all
I want more proof that Brad brings multiple pairs of the same glasses on trips.
That really made me laugh when he got those glasses out of his pocket!
@@steveroloff731 that was amazing
Hes gone all Hollywood
God I hope Brad goes to a maple syrup farm
Its a pretty basic process but theres plenty of sugar shacks nearby in upstate NY and NE, shouldnt be a difficult shoot.
12:12 “okay slow down” 😂😂😂😂😂 I’m so dead oh my god
where's the playful editing? it doesnt feel anywhere close to how Its Alive used to...
"it's dead" should be the name of the show now
Because it’s not “It’s Alive”! Different show, different style. It’s Alive will be back.
Vinny -- the camera guy who also edited the videos -- is no longer with Bon Appetit.
SuperSayainJesus A guy named Matt is the editor, Vinny is the camera guy
SuperSayainJesus he literally spoke to vinny in this episode, don’t spread rumors
Brad reminds me of a golden retriever. gets along with everyone and is generally a happy go lucky guy LOL
"Should I stand here?"
"You'll be fine" *evil internal grin*
Whoa Vinny no cameras, im in the truck remember! 😂🤣👍Tricked the heck outta me! Lol
BigDH28 😉
WOW...I have never heard of this and excited to find a try. Brad, you are always entertaining!
I love Brad 😂 BA should continue to just let brad do whatever brad wants to
I actually loved this episode.
I love watching Brad crash through life. He's charming and fun to watch. My favorite BA!
brad is the master of small talk and i wish he taught a class about it
as a hard-core fan of the series it has felt very lackluster and more commercialized as of late since the editing style changed. Brad's personality and Vinny's cinematography is excellent as usual but both were enhanced by the former editing.
I think it was the Sotol guy, not so much the production. The other episodes in the season so far are fantastic - this guy was just so 1 dimensional and boring.
The humorous editing is what pulled me into the series and really what sets the videos apart.
So much agree. Things have changed lately, for, in my opinion, the lesser.
I love the free-style, improvised older videos. I like seeing them screwup their lines and laugh.
I think it has a lot more hours of filming, so adding the little details would be much more time consuming.
Vinnie be flying during the intro tho
I love that this show really highlights the work that goes into the food and drink products we consume
It's cool learning about production with brad :> and their lax behind the scenes stuff.
[edit point]And also in comment about the sotol guy. i don't think he's stuckup or pretentious :\ i think he's just a professional maybe introverted guy. You can tell he gets a little loose every now and then by the small banter or the laughing with brad :) i think nobody can resist the power of brad, but i don't think everyone could/should match it like the clay guy :) 2 different episodes. both great
