Currently recovering from E. coli stec.
All I can say is.... people, please wash your hands. And I know I'm going to Heaven after what I've been through lately.
Thank you for your video. Microbiology is a fascinating subject.

Thank you for this. Can you still test positive for Shiga toxin in your stools without having any active food poisoning symptoms, but rather just gi symptoms (similar to IBS). I remember having a severe food poisoning about 4/5 months ago whilst in Bali, could the ecoli still be shedding months later? can it cause long term inflammation or post infectious IBS? thank so much!

I've been testing positive for STEC 4 months in a row with persistent IBS/IBD symptoms ongoing for 7 or 8 months now and doctors are still trying to figure it out. 40 blood tests and 20 stool tests, many of which were panel tests, 2 colonoscopies with 18 tissue samples for biopsy. So the answer to your question is yes, absolutely.

@@davep6989I know this comment was 2 years ago, but did you ever get rid of the shedding? I tested positive for stec in my stool test but I have no symptoms at all. The only reason I got the test done was to see if the parasite of giardia I had was gone and it was and then they found stec...
