Hi, I have a recurrent ecoli that cause uti, in India.. They do the sensitivity, but not seen the type on the results. They treated me twice with iv amikacin 5 days. My urine was clear after, but 6 months later I'm there again. This time also diharea, no blood, not liquid. Feeling very weak, waiting now 4 days for the sensitivity test results. Precedent where esbl e coli.
Hello, I had a GI fecal test done thru LabCorp and results came back “abnormal” for EPEC. My Gastro dr wants me to take Xifaxan and to do the travelers diarrhea dose (200mg 3x pd for 3 days). This doesn’t seem appropriate. Everything I have read says this type of E. coli doesn’t warrant treatment. Do you agree and should I ask for further testing?

please can you tell me what the point of O157:H7 plus to their function as serotyping ?
Madam you are perfect
What means SMAC negative for E.coli? medum
You go through a test for it, if you don't have it, if the test says there is no that bacteria, then you are negative for it
It means that the particular strain of E. coli cannot ferment sorbitol present in MAC agar. E. coli strain in question is O157:H7.
