I wasn't able to sharpen it by hand, I wasn't able to let it sit constantly on that 3mm secondary bevel and just messed it up so I used the sharpening guide tool... Incredible you are making it by hand! Keep up great work :)

Japanese use different for different types of woods. more here than meets the eye to what's they don't tell you about. they just like to show off the thin chips! You could do it too with the right tools and wood!

It says $600 from Suzuki Tool in the USA. Wow! Must be some great steel. Also I am not sure if the Japanese dont put a secondary bevel on their blades allowing them to hand sharpen without a jig.
There is a video from Japan where they make some frames for the garden. Nothing special but it was strange to see them using the traditional supersharp planes for garden stuff .
