I’m am so thankful for Dr. Lyon. I am 50 and now lifting heavy and focused on prioritizing protein. As an ER nurse I see that our medical care system is very broken and our society is sicker. I strongly feel the only way to solve this problem is the to take more personal responsibility and get stronger and stay out of the ER and hospitals.
As a 64 yr old woman I truly appreciate this information. I am so sad that I didn't know this for the 25 years I stopped eating meat. I have been working on getting more protein from eggs, salmon, sardines, mushrooms, etc .. (I dont like red meat) I truly feel tricked by our government and the food companies😢😢😢😢
you should be raging - there never was anything wrong with meat it's fed humanity since we climbed down from trees. I don't know why Americans are so afraid of protein, we don't have this kind of fear here in my country. I've never heard of anything so ridiculous as the low protein recommendations especially for older people.
Thanks for this conversation. I’m almost 51 post menopause. I’ve been following clean diet mostly keto for 4 years. Im noticing I’m losing a lot of tone and strength due to lack of exercise and resistance training. I have just joined the gym and keen to get this body strong and toned again. We buy grass fed and finished beef 1/4 of a cow at a time.I’m keen to fine tune my protein intake
Totally disproven; Cynthia has done 4-5 podcasts, 2 with creatine researcher Dr. Darren Candow, and this hairloss issue is not related to creatine. Team Cynthia
Research does not support that creatine monohydrate contributes to any kidney dysfunction; this was discussed with creatine researcher and Cynthia multiple times in several podcasts on Everyday Wellness. We always suggest differing to the recommendations of your licensed healthcare provider. Team Cynthia
Creatine does show up in tests as increased creatinine but that should be corrected for if they know you are taking it. - in someone who already has kidney disease? I just googled it and "People with kidney disease, high blood pressure, or liver disease should not take creatine."

I'm 66 and lifting weights 4-5x a week and feel so much better stronger. You'll feel like you're reverse aging.
You got this! You will get there.
Love the protein conversations. Always seems to be a few new nuggets of insight into muscle and amino acid conversion.
I wish I could take Creatine Ladies. I get puffy and bloated. Everything else I do. Dr. Lyons is The Truth.
I wish I could take creatine too. Water retention and exactly the same- puffy and bloated x
What kind of diet are you eating?
@@marciamakoviecki3295 I’m eating keto/carnivore 18:6 IF either 65 EF every week. 100g protein per day at least
adjust dosing and see how you feel. Team Cynthia
Try a smaller dose or divided doses; we find that this helps enormously Team Cynthia
I've read creatine can cause hairloss so I'm reluctant to try it ...can either of you ladies tell me your thoughts please ❤❤

I took 5g creatine for 3 months and my CKD stage worsened, will taking creatine bad for kidneys?
It's bad form they don't reply to the comments....

I already have high créatine. It does nothing for me supplemental
creatinine and creatine are not the same thing Team Cynthia
I love your content but as a disabled athlete I would prefer if you didn't conflate able-bodied with healthy.
Funny...the editor missed some things.
Is it me or is the question of how much protein a woman needs taking a long time to be answered? I keep waiting for this ...
@@jannn7454 She said at least 30-50grams dietary protein at least twice a day. She does not recommend one meal a day.
