    Time and money!!! But full restoration between Thames and Severn is a worthy aspiration. Thank you for this informative video.

    The main buildings of the Thames and Severn canal were converted into the polytechnic school and none of these building where knocked down I the fifties they were still used as a school it was Bensons tool works knocked them down in the sixties to build new factories and the basin was filled in then I used to fish in the canal in the late fifties and there was plenty of water in the basin then but the school and the other canal buildings were still standing in the early sixties when I left the valley

      Interesting thank you for your comment. I do wonder if it’ll ever be restored. The missing mile works start this year, once that is done it’s connected to the network and I think private investment in marinas etc will boom

      @@CourtAboveTheCut with abit of luck and a lot of hard work they will succeed but there hardest time will come when they to sapperton tunnel as this as several collapsed sections in it I have been into the tunnel in the late sixties from the coats end to were the first section of roof collapsed is I think there is now three sections blocking the tunnel it would be nice to see it opened up but I will never see it as I am to old to travel from Australia to the uk now

      @@grahamdore3001 they don’t need the sapperton tunnel at this stage. The next phase for the restoration starts this year which will connect the canal to the Gloucester and sharpness canal at Saul junction. This will allow it to be used by boats. Then the next stage is on the east of the canal joining the canal to the Thames from the Cotswold gateway. The sapperton tunnel section is the last section which I imagine is years away. That’ll join both ends up

    Look at the existing proposal , it's available to view from the SDC planning dept show the conecting route from the ship through the new proposed port &. Housing development to the Bourne lock .
    The accepted developer St Modem.has been taken over by a larger USA 🇺🇸 Company.
    6 Aug 2021 ......US fund manager Blackstone has cleared out the board of St Modwen and installed a trio of executives after completing the £1.3bn buy-out of the British housebuilder and developer.
    This will delay yet again the ports developement
    Adding yet another delay to this long over due Jewel in the Crown of the Thames & Severn Canal (Cotswold Canal)also delaying the consultation process .

      I think there will be many delays before it actually happens, there doesn’t seem to be enough money in it for any developer to take on

    And 1 year later nothing has changer

    • @CourtAboveTheCut
      @CourtAboveTheCut  4 месяца назад

      @@misterglo1394 I believe there’s some dispute with the developers who claim low level development won’t pay for itself as they have contaminated soil to remove. They are trying to get apartments over more of the project

    Good rambling video. Shame about the narrative. Good short films still require proper detailed research, The production of the visual was fairly easy but the dialogue was mostly INCORRECT which makes the whole product PROPAGANDA and not informative. Next time read up your subject...... Please .......

    • @CourtAboveTheCut
      @CourtAboveTheCut  Год назад

      Propaganda 😂 I have absolutely nothing to do with the canal restoration trust, the developers or anyone connected to the site. The video was researched, my research put me onto what I’ve said, if that differs from your opinion then remember that’s exactly what it is your opinion. I look forward to your video on the subject
