I'm a white girl who grew up in the Grove. In my early 20s, I needed a place to stay and moved to 38th and MLK. I never had any problems and enjoyed our little community. All the neighbors were friendly and watched out for each other. Yes, there were some problems. But they were caused by people who didn’t live over there. The hood isn't always bad the way it is made out to be.
@@ClearwaterKB The MLK area is literally one of the top 2 dangerous areas in the city statistically so it’s a fact. A restaurant owner just got killed there a few days ago. Maybe you and others have a high tolerance for the hood and don’t seem things bad as others but it’s still dangerous no matter how you slice it.
@ericrowland3246 I am WELL aware of how dangerous the area is. I had an acquaintance who survived being shot in the head at the Community Spirits just east of Boulevard on 38th. However, the 2-3 blocks surrounding me were generally safe and quiet. The vast majority of neighbors either moved there in the 60s and 70s and were quite old or they were the children/grandchildren of those original owners. They took a lot of pride in community an watching out for each other. They also never made me feel like I didn't belong due to the melanin content of my skin. I had a friend who lived at 34th and Kenwood, I did not feel safe there nor did I feel safe north of the fairgrounds despite going to high school with a bunch of them when they were bussed to the south side.
From $outh$ide to 2G all the way to Post RD it’s all love Youngyin stay solid it definitely was treacherous back in the day but we as People found a way to come together in prison on the street even sometimes unfortunately at funerals all love NAP OR NOTHING
Bruh if u wasn’t back there in 08-10 u wasn’t frm there we stayed back yard hooping when 12 shut down riverside that used to be a the candy house like frl
If you don't want to be viewed as thugs or criminals then I suggest you start cooperating with police and hold the criminals accountable. But instead you all hold the code of silence making ALL of you accomplices.
I'm from NAPTOWN, Indy lol We have programs to help the younger generation stay out of trouble, to stay out the streets. Cause it's bad out there. There ain't nothing in the streets but trouble and death smh.
