Probably the most informative video I've seen in a while. You can definitely tell a pro. No 7 hour long streams, vague explanations, the man sat and did that. Would be nice to see a mastering process with UAD plugins. Thank you. Subscribed.
This is a comment by the Fabfilter team. The sidechain EQ is only used for the compressor to listen to specific frequencies to react. But the compression affects the entire spectrum of the audio material.
"The sidechain EQ section in Pro-C 2 filters the trigger signal before the compressor starts to analyze it. This lets you select on which frequencies in the trigger signal you want the compressor to react.
You're saying "I can select what frequencies of the signal I want to compress" but that's not exactly how it works. The compressor always changes the gain of the entire input signal. You only change the frequencies that the compressor reacts on.
With external side chaining, it works just the same, but on the external trigger signal of course. Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Frederik (FabFilter)"
so you shouldn’t put a bandpass filter on there. that’s confusing. it should only do parametric notches
Wow. That was fast. Thanks a lot, exactly what I was looking for.
Great video, thanks! Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re helping a lot of young engineers out there!
Thanks John!
Love the trick with the compressor, only the voice!
Agreed. I never thought of buss compression in this way, but I’m definitely going to try it now! Great idea.
Really helpful for independent mastering!! Thanks a lot man!!
Thanks Matty, vid helped alot, you just gained a subscriber for life!👌🏿
I was looking for this video
Great tutorial man! Thanks a lot.
Nice, man, thank you so much🤲🏿 and big ups to your boy, he's dope🤟🏾🤟🏾🔥🔥
Hey I have a studio one question...
My Main Output 1+2 never go past -3dB, no matter how hard I crush the limiter, any ideas?
Thank you.I appreciate this video , it really helped me. especially the De Esser. I was having harshness issues.
This video was great kind of expected the fabfilter saturn its one of my go to mastering tools
Merci beaucoup, it's excellent !
Bro Your a Genius Bro!
Love your content Matty, so informative!
you have my dream setup great love the crane and bettermaker . and the atc s
Thanks man. your a good teacher
yoo thats de-esser trick is cool, i love it! great vid, thank u
thank you Matty. Do you have a video on how to add color to your mix?
I use two Pro-Q's: the 2nd lowcuts the mid information in sub frequencies (just to be sure, of course that should not exist in the first place).
That joint is dope dude!
And thank you for this dope vid as well my guy 💯💯
That was really great, thank you!
Thanks man great job.
My question is;
you were using the L2 with the true peak limiting engaged... does that affect your goal of -3?
Thanks 😊
Sounds killer man.
This was gold. Is there are more tutorials for fab filters? Im going to use this thank you!
thanks bro much appreciate
very good tutorial thanks!
man I like the song sound good bro
so are you mastering the vocal or the whole song master channel
Thanks, great video!
this sounds really great where can i get this presets see if i can shine my tracks please
great job sir
thanks
Why not use the fab filter multi band compressor mb instead of using c2 and using a sidechain ?!
THANKS LOT MANN
This video made me subscribe
why did you put the De Esser after the compressor?
i’ve heard you should put it before to knock that stuff out before you hit the compressor with everything else
I tend to use multple de Essers depending on how much the vocal needs. Sometimes I'll put one on the begining and the end...Sometimes I put two back to back at the end to control different frequencies. No rules. Use your ears and figure out what you gotta do.
@@mixedbymatty that’s right. Tom Lord Alge even uses a DeEsser on his cymbals sometimes.
U JUST THE BOSS
thank's for the knowledge sharing
you are the man!
Hey bro so my mastered song LUFS' hit -9 and it sounded great but after it was released on Spotify, the whole thing sounded awful... loss of dynamics, thin, and compressed to where it can't compete with other songs in terms of DB... what can I do? Is there a way to not let Spotify's stupid algorithm to mess with my mix?
@Zhady If the topic is still current: With Spotify you should have an average loudness of -14LUFS and a TP of -1db. If the loudness of -14LUFS is exceeded, the TP should even be -2db max. Since at that time, if I understood you correctly, your level was at -9 LUFS your production on Spotify should have sounded so awful. Hope that helps. Best Skorthes
@@skorthes8136 hey bro that is what I ended up doing but because of that, my mix doesn’t compete with other songs in terms of loudness.
Niiiice. A cool video would be mastering with ik multimedia plugins
11:32 absolutely underestimated statement.
Thanks bro
Hi Matty, can you actually make a Mastering chain preset of a combination of your best plugins from; FAB FILTER, PA, WAVES, SOFT TUBE & SLATE DIGITAL? That would be really awesome for all people who own these plugins.
Also; When are you bringing out your Cubase mixing template???????????
pls can you share your MH mid range settings?
Thanks 🙏🏻
but matty . in the first example u made a wrong statment , it the just the side chain you are filtering , the compressor still gonna compress the full spectrum just that its envelope detector would react acording to the filtered sidechain. u said its ginna only compress the mid, not true . its gonna compress the whole thing just its action triggered only by the mid range
I ordered the FabFilter Presets Package, but I use cubase5. What should I do?
Thanks!
Heey bro, amazing job. may u tell us the mixer name of you setup please?
How I can track rap vocal hiphop or rap vocal with a shelford channel strip ? Help Please
Really Great Video! thank you very much. I was curious if you bounce your Mastered tracks at 24 bit or 16 bit.
Thanks man. I bounce at 24. Then I will convert to 16 if the distribution company needs them like CD Baby. I do recommend people use distrokid cause they accept and use 24 bit files.
@@mixedbymatty yes 24 is a wise choice♥️
whats the name of this track
at 02:55...a gem.
Im very confused about LUFS values and limiting to certain levels
Awesome information ,do you offer courses for the beginner into mixing and mastering ?
Have you used the ABBEY Road Mastering Chain
How loud was your mix before starting to master? I’ve heared it should be around -4 to -8 db
If you get the mix as a 32 bit wav it literally doesn't matter. You can just turn it up or down as needed.
Are you gonna upload this preset chain for free?
It'll help a lot 😤
So you are back with Studio One again?
I use both. :)
Fab filter or iZotope
hahsdhahah good
I was just looking for suck toturial
