- At last the new Hornby 9F had arrived, so i went to pick it up from my local model. and here it is thrashing the rails of the TNE.
Both 9F are seen in this running session along with a few of my favourites. Enjoy this main line running session. Развлечения
Very magnificent train
Thank you Elijah. have a great bank holiday....cheer's Tony.
Yeah great Tyne Dock 9f with the special Iron Ore Wagons from KR Models. I have the same just got my 92097 9f too. I also have a rare Hornby 9f 92099 made in 2000, which I have modified to have the Westinghouse pumps. This older Hornby Tyne Dock 9f is tender driven but I have fitted the older all metal tender drive motor which is much better and will last forever. I love the new 92097 9f is a lovely model. Glad Hornby produced this with the pumps so we can have a proper Tyne Dock one finally. Hornby didn’t fit the pumps on 92099 but the real one had the pumps so I had to modify. Maybe this has taken the value away but I had to have it to run with the KR wagons now I have two Tyne Dock 9Fs hahaha thanks Hornby. 👍❤️👨✈️
Classic model you have there Stephen. that means you could run an empty as well as a full iron train. and have them passing each other. that would be cool. thanks for commenting, very much appreciated. all the best Tony
Wow! What a magnificent locomotive. That was a lovely running session showing the new 9F at her best. Thanks for sharing Tony. Hope to see you at GETS on the Sunday morning. Roy.
I hope you have a great day at GETS. we left early around lunch time it was just to crowded. all the best my friend. Tony
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN hi Tony, yes it did get a bit manic as the day moved on. Because we got advance tickets we got in just after 9:30 and saw what we wanted before it got too bad. Some congestion on the balconies at some stage but we managed. Left about 1:30 and had a nice meal in the Italian restaurant round the corner before heading back down the M1. Good day out though. Roy.
Enjoyable running session Tony many thanks for sharing this of your Class 9F I've nick named it the `Gentle Giant` it looks great love it when loco's are running at slow speed. Take care regards Barry..
Good morning Barry. i like your nick name for your 9f. Hmm. dont worry i wont steal it. lol. the speed is everything, as you know these are very heavy trains. and they would'nt be racing around. have a great Sunday, and we will catch up again soon. cheer's for now Tony.
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN hi Tony sorry I was hoping that you would use the nickname (please do). Sun ☀️ is shining today in Dover hope it is where you are, cheers Barry.
Nice addition to your layout Tony
Good morning Dave. thank you for commenting. would you be getting one. take care my friend. Tony
Hello Tony, looks like you have been having fun. Good to receive a new toy and one without any issues. A geat video, thank you. Regards Ray
Good evening Ray. there was not much else going today. the only issue i had was taking the tender off. as the screw came out of thread ok but were stuck in the clearance holes. got there eventually. apart from that, great runner, especially on low speeds. thanks again for commenting. i see you have a new video. i will be over in a jiffy. cheer's for now Tony
Great Vid Tony and loved the way you weathered the ore wagons. That 9F is very tempting!
Good morning Richard, thank you for commenting, they are tempting. but be careful where you get this loco from, i pre-ordered mine form my local model shop, and got it £50 cheaper. the price of these loco's have now gone silly. its a shame as they are pricing these out of the reach for some model railway modellers. if your looking for one best to shop around. all the best my friend. Tony
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN Thanks for the advice Tony! Funny how some are more popular. At the moment I have a number of locomotives on order so was going to wait a while and see if it got discounted. Maybe I will be out of luck.
Great stuff but I saw a Crosti 9F and wouldn't expect to see a Wellingborough 15A Crosti 9F in the north-east as when the 9Fs to be allocated to Tyne Dock went to Crewe for fitting of Westinghouse pumps, the then converted Tyne Dock 9fs were initially temporarily allocated to 15A Wellingborough whilst the 15A Crosti boilered 9Fs were converted back to standard 9Fs and 15A wouldn't release the Tyne Dock 9Fs until they got their de-Crostied 9Fs returned.
But hey...model railway licence and great stuff.
Liked the G5 too.
Hi David, well i did not know that, about the 9fs being refitted at Crewe.
I bought the Crosti because i could find a decent 9F as the Early Bachmann ones had some issues. but finally at last i have a replica Tyne dock loco. many thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
Great layout enjoyed it.
Thank you Gordon have a great weekend. all the best Tony
Tony, that was a very good running, I knew the 9Fs worked "UP North" , which justifies my "evening Star" and a black 9f to both of them to run on "YORKDALE" , Martin. (Thailand.)
Hi Martin. the 9Fs got around all over the network. there were 6 on the consett to tyne dock run. Evening star the last one to be built. its on my list. may be next year. take care my friend. Tony
Lovely running session Tony ,and to see it in black n white takes it back a bit ! wonderful.keep well and safe Tony ,Choo Choo .......
Hi Francis, most pictures we see of the beasts are in black n white. even though real life is colour. i guess colour film was more expensive back in the day. thank you for commenting, cheer's for now Tony
love your layout so much!!
Thank you so much!! very much appreciate your comment, best wishes Tony
Amazing 👍👍👍
Thank you for commenting. cheer's Tony
Nice presentation. Love the new 9F from Hornby. My only niggle was glue marks on the front cab windows 😞 I fitted their TXS sound decoder (25min job) and it is great, especially for the price.
Good morning. the price was good, but now the price for these locomotives have gone through the roof. if you are very careful you can remove the glue marks with some methylated spirit on the end of a Q tip. but only a very tiny amount. until next time my friend. have a great weekend. Tony.
good build on channelnice work thanks lee
Glad you like it Lee many thanks Tony
Love the loco Tony and in black and white or should I say monochrome regards Fred
Good evening Fred, i do like the old black and white photos. because so many photos of these locomotives were taken using black n white film. all the best Tony
Hi Tony, yes indeed this loco is a nice addition to North Eastern. Beside the very enjoyable running session, I thoroughly, enjoyed your videos spotting different parts of the layout.
A smashing tour, pointing out lots of details in charming areas. It's amazing how you,
find a way to feel in small paces. Bravo be good cheer's
Glad you enjoyed it Francis. i do tend to focus on the backgrounds when do these running sessions. thanks again for commenting. all the best my friend. Tony
Super spaceship Tony, what about some weathering ? You where lucky if you saw a clean one! Cheers John
Good morning John. i do agree. all the photos i have seen were always dirty or rusting. maybe its something i will add to the loco and keep it as a set. great thought. all the best. cheer's for now Tony
A real flavour of the 50's Tony, thanks for that. If you're at GETS on the Sunday... see you there.
I will be there Andy. see you there all the best Tony. I am glad you enjoyed the video.
Cracking model Tony ! 9F looks fantastic pulling the ore wagons, next big build steel works or loading Staithes? Lol
If only i had the space.LOl. i will leave that for TYNE DOCK 2B . all the best Tony.
Hello Tony, The signal box build series was very enjoyable to watch and the completed model was incredible work. The 9F is a very impressive model and looked stunning running around your layout. Will you be at GETS on the Sunday Tony i would very much like to meet you,
Hello Deano, i will be there both days. sunday will be morning only. but yes by all means say hello. i would like to meet you. see you there. sheer's for now Tony
Nice one Tony 👌😎☕️
Hi Fred, its a cracker as the say. cheer's for now Tony
Morning Tony, what a lovely beast! This is a nice engine, it really does look the part, you can just imagine it pulling the heavy load of iron ore from the docks to the iron works, billy and his mates excited to see a new engine, I've not seen that one before said Billy, yes we did said Arthur it pulled that iron train last Wednesday,!-- See Tony there you go again getting my imagination to run away with me. Great engine, lovely runner wish you many happy hours enjoying running it. As for us, I took the older two to the football yesterday to see Torquay play Hungerford in a FA cup game which the we won 5-0 it was good fun, two very good and excited boys ,im sure the main reason they come along with me is the chips at half time. 😅 thanks again Tony see you on the next one, Eddy xx
Hi Eddy. yep that would do it for me. chips at half time. the FA cup is a great competition where any team is in with a change.
I can not fault the loco. its a great looking beast. until next time all the best Tony.
Hi Tony, I’m late to the party again. I’ve been up most of the night looking at On30 stuff for a US logging and mining theme but there are issues getting suitable Shay, Heisler or Climax locomotives in On30 scale and 2 rail locos in O scale that don’t have steam roller wheels. It is looking like it may have to be HO scale and maybe HOn30. Anyhoo, back to your wonderful 9F.
It looks to be a fine and smooth running loco and I bet your chuffed with it. I wonder if Steve (Tyne Dock 54B) has seen this video? I enjoyed watching your ore hoppers being pulled by the 9F. I am old enough to remember watching these as a lad when I use to cycle over to Tyne Dock to watch these impressive locos and iron ore trains with all the super heating pipework and the huge Westinghouse pumps on the loco for opening the hopper doors. Enjoy your new model. Best, Jason.
Hi Jason, better to be late than never my friend.
Its runs as well as it looks, no issues found. wow i was old enough to have been around when those 9F were still running. must have been a fantastic sight. and awesome sound. Steve from Tyne Dock 54b has seen the video. i think he might be tempted. i will catch up him at GETS.
thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony
Signal box build was great to watch with a superb finnish Tony. As for the 9F it`s the dogs nuts SUPERB LOCO. i would love one on my layout.
Cheers Lord Al.
Good morning My Lord Al. i hope you and her ladyship are keeping well. the dogs nuts i will keep that name and give it to the 9f. love it. must be barking mate. lol. its always great to hear from you. take care Tony, DOGS NUTS...love it.
That’s a nice looking steam engine mate.
Hello Josh. it is, but very pricy. take care buddy. cheer's Tony
Superb running session mate, the 9F looks stunning and pulling those nicely detailed ore wagons tops it off. An excellent aquisition to your collection. All the best. Brian @ The Angels
Thank you Brian, at last i have train worthy for the north eastern rails. thanks again for your kind words of support. cheer's for now Tony.
Great running session Tony. The 9F is a magnificent locomotive indeed. As always, in awe of your trackplan and love watching your formations. Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it David. its always fun running trains. almost as must fun as building buildings. thanks again for commenting. cheer's Tony
I got a 9f I had mine going round my mates layout pulling 60 wagons . These hornby 9fs the new 1 are better than of the previous models.
Good morning Alan. i think they are better than the previous models, detail wise anyway. i am not sure about pulling power though.
60 wagons it a great haul. Hmm, i feel an idea. coming. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN morning look forward to this idea of yours 😀
Hi Tony,
Great engine, great running session, great layout and now more so with the signal box added well done. Hope to see you at GETS on the Saturday after the vintage bus ride!!!
Cheers Robert.
I hope so too Robert, it will be great to see you again my friend. cheer's for now Tony.
Hi Tony, that’s a mighty fine model and a great addition to the collection. Seems to run beautifully and looks the business on your layout. All the best mate..Chris n Jules
Many thanks Chris, its a loco that i have always wanted for the North Eastern. just to have an actual train that ran on the N E R is a dream come true. tanks again for commenting. take care. best wishes Tony, Laura...
I dare say Diana Dores will be frying some bacon on the hot plate in the tender of the F9.
It would be a very luck fireman to have Diano Dores cooking something up on the foot plate. Thank again for commenting. Cheers Tony
An awesome loco and a great running session Tony!! Thanks for sharing this video mate! Cheers Onno.
Hi Onno, thank you for commenting, your very welcome. i do like to share what's going on in the railway room, cheer's for now Tony
Nice running session Tony. Those new Hornby 9F's look great. It looked right at home pulling your iron ore wagons. All it needs now is some weathering. - Nicholas.
Hello Nicholas. your right the 9F does need some weathering doing to it. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now my friend. Tony
Hi Tony, what a lovely model that 9f is, I know Hornby have their problems but they seem to have pulled a good un’ out of the bag there mate!
Lovely running session, really enjoyed watching all those trains running at once, something I’m looking forward to on Exehaven when I get my finger out!
Cheers Tony, John
Fingers crossed! mate, lets hope you get there soon my friend. but you must be patience and make sure you get your track work right first. and then it should all come together nicely. all the best. cheer's Tony
stunning loco! sweet ore train! love the wagon train too. Great session! :)
Good morning John. running session are always great for a Sunday morning. all the best my friend. Tony
A magnificent beast, oh and those naked driving wheels as dictated and so characteristic of Mr Riddle’s standardisation plan … for ease of access and maintenance purposes. Pure power and such a successful engine. Great to see two on the go and that it has plenty of traction. Mine is slightly older and a little under weight, typical of Hornsby with no space for a sound decoder. Enjoy, don’t forget to come out of the loft sometime! All the best Stephen
Hi Stephen. its been om list for a long time, owning the correct engine for this rake of Iron wagons.
I seem to spend less time in the loft than i use too, only 3 evenings a week instead of 5-6. thanks again for commenting. all the best Tony.
that's a vast improvement on the 1970/80s version of Evening Star that i owned ! Great video Cheers from Christchurch New Zealand.
Good morning Alan. from New Zealand, we get many people from your neck of woods visiting the TNE. welcome, and thank you for commenting.
Tooling for these models have come a long way since the 70s and 80s. hence why they cost so much. with my job. i have witnessed tooling costs just for a simple piece of plastic lenses, can cost up to £40.000. thanks again. all the best form a dull but semi bright England. cheer's Tony
Thanks Tony i have been watching your channel for the last 12-18 months enjoyed the station over roof project !@@TONYNORTHEASTERN
Hi Tony another lovely addition to your fleet, great views of the motion and valve gear. Seems Hornby listened to my rant about supplying crews for their models.
Hi Steve. back in the day every loco you bought from hornby had crew. lets hope they run out the crew on the rest of their new loco's. until next time my friend. cheer's Tony
Looking good, very smooth running!
Hi Steve, incredibly smooth. so the choice is still yours. Bachmann or Hornby. take care Buddy. cheer's for now Tony
Great running, especially love the shots at 3:52 and 5:10 !
Cheer's Peter. it was fun to do the running session, cheer's for now Tony
Also note the BR1B tender. Most model 9F’s come with the BR1G.
Nice to see more variants like this.
Good morning, i did not know that. many thanks for commenting. as its very much appreciated. All the best Tony
Tony. Two videos in one weekend. Wow we really spoiled. What is on the next building list. Chris
Hi Chris, i am making up for lost time. i am not sure what's next. but i am sure we will find out soon. take care. cheer's for now Tony.
Hello Mr t
I hope you are well
For me hornby new 9f is the ultimate model in my opinion
And your is stunning I was unsure if you was getting Bachmann Tyne Dock 9f or big h one.
Great running session
Keep safe ARP
Good morning Adi my friend. i normal put these loco's through a good test. but this i knew what i was getting. as it has a similar motor to the costi 9F. the choice is yours. Bachmann Or Hornby. before all i used to collect was Bachmann.
thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony
Great running session and a fantastic layout and fantastic loco.Could yountell me is the tender connection the old push in plug or is it the new tender connection only ask as i am thinking of purchasing one many thanks
Hi Andrew.
The tender connection is a plug in socket. But care must be taken when removing the socket. J hope this info helps. Many thanks for commenting. Have a great weekend. Cheers Tony
Thanks
I am always careful with the pushin connectors there very flimsy thanks for the answer enjoy your fantastic layout
Are your 9Fs running on DCC? They certainly don't seem to be lacking torque (as some others have reported), looking at the length of the trains they're hauling.
Hello Michael. the whole layout is DDC my friend. i have had no trouble with my 9F. runs very smooth. no issues. thanks again for commenting. all the best Tony.
Lovely model. A couple of questions : what size plastacard do you usually use and keep in stock? And, what clearence do normally have on your bridges and tunnels for trains to go through without any issues.
Hi Phil, question time.
1) The plasticard i use is evergreen. the sheets comes in various thicknesses 0.8mm to 2.mm. I also use wills sheets for decorative finishes like stone, brick etc.
2) Bridge height may vary. as long as you are above 70mm then you should have no issues.
If you google. OO gauge Dimensions. search pictures, you will find a drawing which gives you lots of interesting dimensions on all aspects of oo gauge. including platform heights etc.
i hope this info helps. cheer's for now Tony
Veery helpful thanks Tony.
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN
your welcome.
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN Another question, sorry to be a pain. I came across a term in Railway Modeller "pre grouping" - what era does this refer to?
I have since found out what this means. Thanks.
How do you keep so much track clean ,i need advice on this :-) ??
I clean the track with a lintel free cloth. using two fingers one for each rails. and if there is any hard residue then i use a track fine coarse track cleaning rubber. i only use the track cleaning rubber if i have two, which is very rare. i also have a track cleaning wagon for those hard to reach areas like tunnels.
i hope this info helps.
many thanks for commenting Tony.
Hi, that 9F looks amazing, how are you getting on with it?
Hi Mike, its a smooth runner, detail is superb, i would recommend this loco that's for sure. many thanks again for commenting. cheer's Tony
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN very tempting, I do love a 9F
