It's funny, the plane crashes in SA aren't really new glitches, that happened on the PS2 version all the time, sometimes they crash directly into you! Especially after you complete a tricky mission and haven't saved yet. I don't think it's a glitch either, I remember the Housers talking about how there would be random events like plans crashes in the game.
Actually it was a glitch. But they thought it was so funny that they kept them in the game. Basically they went the Bethesda route and decided “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature”.
