I know mesh jackets, or let’s say motorcycle gear, we all have different opinions on.
You know already what gear I was riding with in the past.
I tried a lot and finally I might have found the right jacket for my needs.
I am very happy with the breathability and the comfort of the Knox Urban Pro MK3 jacket.
The Utility version was the model I chose, due to the extra number of pockets.
The jacket feels very. Light, the armor is very flexible and breathable.
If I compare the back protector of my Touratech Companero Summer (first Gen!) the back protector of the Knox feels so light vs like a brick in the Companero, but both are AA rated.

No slots as such but a Chest Protector can be added. The jacket has a Velcro patch where the specific Knox chest protector fits?

typically, the chest protections are never included because designated for adventure riders. If you are going to stay on the asphalt, they are usually not useful.
