Hey Aaron, whatever you do, I recommend a real MX boot. I've been seeing a lot of sales on the Sidi Crossfire 3s, which can be a forever boot if you take care of it. If you have wider feet, check out the Gaerne SG12s. Alpinestars Tech 7s are actually not bad to walk around in and can be well vented if you can find a pair that isn't drystar... or if you want the drystar lining, perfect.
Thanks, I did buy the Tech 7's waterproof, but they were about as waterproof as a sieve, so I sent them back. In the end, I bought the Forma Terra Evo boots www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/374710. More waterproof, excellent feel (like a trials boots), but yes, less protection than the Astars ones... Always a compromise, but Im fairly happy so far. Thanks, Aaron KNOX
Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro Gortex! I have the non-Gortex version. But these boots are PLUSH and have the protection you need for the riding you’re doing. Ditch those ADV boots before you break an ankle or foot. 😊
@@KnoxArmour - Hi Aaron. Sorry… I meant to say “Drystar”, not Goretex. Drystar is Alpinestars’ proprietary waterproof liner. BTW, I own and love many Knox products. And I enjoy all your videos. All the best…
Looking into these for some training drills - I already have all your street gear and must stop shopping, haha. Wish you offered more colors apart from black/grey/brown though. Gets really hot in the sun and the brighter colors would offer more visibility.
@@KnoxArmour thanks - yeah that's an option for off-road gear. The street urbane pro mk3 series is the one I'm more interested in having color options but that's a comment for another video of course.
I like full on motocross boots for all my riding (Sidi fits me well). No floppy ankle boots around here. I'm old and gimpy, I want all the best gear to keep riding as long as I can without doing myself in or chalking up more injuries.
I use the same gear under MX for trail riding and regularly on the street with my Supermoto. Game changing in all kinds of weather with the ability to layer. Echoing others, boots are important. Need to be stiffer. Sidi and A* make great stuff, I prefer the Tech 7.
I love the shirt - when doing more woods riding I tend to put a fox rooster guard over to help with tree branch deflection. For more dual sport - just the jacket. Love it - thousands of miles on mine already. Boots - listen to everyone that does enduro - definitely not a place to skimp - and the feel does develop after a few hours. And waterproof socks work best if doing creek crossings - as waterproof only works when it doesn’t go over the boot. 😅. Knox in-boot enduro pants ✅
Hey, been seeing the 701 in many vids, reviews. Which year of the 701 is the one to hunt for on budget ? Is it like DR650 it hasn't changed since 2016 ? Is that a good yr? Anyone... cheers. Good vid on gear... good riding.🎉
Thanks for the product overview, loving the Urbane Pro Mk3 myself, been using the Mk2 for a couple of years and more recently on a 4200 miles mostly off road trip and it worked very well as part of my layering system. As for boots, you might want to have a look at the Sidi Adventure 2. There's a GoreTex version and they are basically adventure boots but with transversal rigidity as well. Good compromise, I think?
Thanks, so glad you think so! Ended up buying Astars Tech 7 enduro waterproof boots. Going OK so far, but definitely not much feeling... maybe just need to break them in a bit more. Thanks, Aaron KNOX
@@KnoxArmour Just saw this, this is a great choice. So many bones in your feet that can break. You'll get used to the MX boot, better than getting used to plates and pins in your feet :)
Yes, we have chest protectors that can simply be added into the shirt. Check them out here - www.planet-knox.com/category/mens-back-and-chest-protection/. I probably need to wear one! Aaron KNOX
Hi, actually, I do wear the Urbane Pro Trousers on enduro too, which are excellent and offer better abrasion resistance. The Urbane Pro Trousers have excellent knee protection built in. But, when its muddy in particular, I tend to wear the set up in the video so I can wash a little easier. Hope that helps. Aaron KNOX
Now that Aaron is riding enduro I hope we finally get the bright coloured Urbane/Utility shirts some of us are waiting for. 😃 Honestly, all this black is murder in the scorching summer on the continent. Anything bright and hi-viz just works better for safety and comfort on multiple levels: visibility on and off-road + less heat absorption.
Hey Bro, nice looking gear, wouldn't mind giving some of that a test over here in NZ. I would recommend Gaerne boots all day long. There adv boots are serious kit and there motocross boots would be the best protection you could give yourself. Cheers ridelifenz
This is a year later, hope you upgraded boots to true mx boots. A-stars tech7 is the base minimum I'd suggest for any rider who's looking to ride offroad.
This is great timing…..I’m in the market for this stuff (a full kit) right now….. but I’m based in the South of France, and it’s proper hot, dry, dusty weather. I guess that means online ordering, so sizing is an issue - I’m 6ft 4” with large shoulders and long arms, so what sizes should I go for (how to the sizes come up)? Do you sell the oNiell pants too? Also, best non leather gloves for large hands?
Hi Alan, the sizing is quite true to size. I was wearing Medium in this video. I am 5'9" with a 42" chest, which would generally put me as a Large, but having lost a bit of weight, the Medium actually fits me better. The sizing for the action pro shirt is here and is based on chest size - www.planet-knox.com/product/mens-action-pro-shirt/. No, we dont sell the Oneil pants. I broke a bone in my foot just riding a slow trail with a pair of Forma Adventure Boots. The give you no protection for off-road riding and flex to much. I've used AlpineStar Corozal adventure boots, they have crush and ankle hinge protection but now wear Sidi Adv 2 Gore-Tex, they are waterproof and have a hinged ankle and crush protection. As you say MotoX boots give the best protection but less feel
Hi Aaron, nice video, thx. I myself am just an adv rider, not enduro one. I have been using mk3 pro and Knox gloves an I am very happy w it, did more than 10k km in it either as top layer in heat or underlayer under my warmer and/or waterproof layers in colder and rainy Scandinavian weather. I am actually writing this in hospital, stupid as it sounds but I slid on a muddy track and fell down in such way that I hit the ground straight with the ONLY unprotected part, eg side if my chest and broke a few ribs as result. So i started my research on chest protection, coz i wanna keep riding but also want to avoid another icu visit 😊 What would u recommend in this department? MK3 to my knowledge does not have pockets for chest protectors. Any other way? Thx and hv great riding!
Hi, and thanks for your kind feedback! Yes you can add a chest protector to the Knox Urbane Pro MK3. Here is the link. www.planet-knox.com/product/micro-lock-chest-upgrade/. Simply, attach it to the velcro on the inside of the zip on your Urbane Pro. Thanks, Aaron KNOX
