If so, I can tell you why!

This is Barbara with Chris Carpet and Water Restoration, you are spot on!! these 3rd parties if if you do not come to an agreement with them, they send it back to the carrier and boom a check goes out with the amount I would not agree to!! We will fight with the carrier but they do not inmost cases send the additional amount so unfortunately I have to charge the customer. They sign a work auth that states we cannot tell you what your insurance will pay or not pay but you as the customer are responsible for what Insurance does not pay. Its such a game!!! not to mention it takes months to get paid months

As a remodeler we do not do business with any company that uses Xactimate. It does not follow industry standard pricing by any means.

All of those things you mentioned on the “slippery slope” you should make a video on how to justify those charges. Good video bud 👍

Are you asking this from the stand point of Mit, recon?
I ask because my answer on how I address the problem will vary based on whether it is mit or recon.
I'd suggest we get on a call. You can go to www.WorkWithShane.com and fill out your information and it should take you my calendar page.

Be aware that terms and conditions of Xactimate #7 specifically says that it is not intended to "fix" prices.
Also, read "deny, delay, defend" by Jay M. Feinman.

What is not said is that restoration companies try to charge 4k for a small 2x2 water stain on the ceiling. This is why everything is reviewed for soft fraud because its rampant and very much so with mitigation and restoration companies.

Great video Shane. One thing I’ve started is when calling in the claim with the customer, have the customer make you the point of contact. This will help in sending and negotiating supplemental claims. We found out the hard way that the carriers started calling the customers after a supplemental claims trying to negotiate the prices or rather get them to agree with a lesser price they are “willing to pay”.

Air filtration devices….. why do insurance not like paying for this piece of equipment when it’s an OSHA regulation to place one as an engineering control to protect its occupants and workers?

They can access the photos from the link.

The HEPA filter argument I don’t agree with. Unless you are one of the few that literally throw them away after each job, there is no justification to charge a full filter every job.

What am I missing? The video title says “How to make maximum results with Xactimate” but you don’t explain how to make maximum results with Xactimate? I think most of us in the comments understand the BS insurance pulls, that’s why we’re looking for a solution.

Fact: carriers send restoration and reconstruction estimates to their vendors who always chop the estimate. If you want to remain a vendor in good standings and continue getting work you do what we ask of you. Vendors get paid very little like $150-250 each comparison estimate and again carriers logic is that the volume will make up for the low fee. Biggest shit show ever!
