I just watched ur mom kimchi, with ginger syrup recipe and bread that you cooked for ur son with raisin, carrots, peas, and chestnut on top of the steamed bread 5 years ago. Watching ur son eating it made me smile 😊😊😊 YOUR RECIPIES ARE ALL EASY TO FOLLOW AND LOOKED ALL DELISH
@@aeriskitchen I love the ginger syrup recipe!! I drink ginger tea everyday to keep my ying and yang in balance according to my Chinese doctor. Ginger is great for you. I'm so making that and that sweet rice paste u made is so authentic! I love kimchi and it has become my stable in my fridge. Can't wait for ur next recipe!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 It is a big help to save money. 😄 Mother's or home-cooked foods are the best because there is love and happiness while cooking. 😊😊😊
I totally agree with you. I'm sorry but all your comments went to my spam folder.. maybe because you left many comments in the same day ? I don't know..but I'm happy to meet you. hehe
Thanks for sharing your Mom's kimchi recipe. I truly enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to make it at home. Kudos to you and your Mom. I'm sure you enjoyed your vacation in Korea. It's really nice having such bonding activities with your family, right? Being a Mom, cook and wife and having this channel surely have its own struggles ;) so I hope that somehow you were able to recharge all your energy. Btw thank you so much for all your effort in this channel. I used go browse on your blog before but having this on RUclips made it easier. PS: I'd never work on kimchi with my bare hands either. I remember hearing from someone that it's really difficult to wash off. The orange stain will stay in my hands even after washing it with soap multiple times.
haha.. your PS.. story made me smile.. yep. that's so true..that's why I don't do it with bare hands.. lol Thank you for your thoughtful comment... I feel connected to you even more ~~~ Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you for both recipes. I love kimchi I make my own for over a year. But this recipe is better. Great tip for the ginger syrup I also drink ginger and turmeric tea every day and this syrup is very usefull.
Well ~~~ 😅 I'm sorry that I use American measurement for my recipes... it will be more difficult for you to covert it to grams... I used 5 lb of Napa cabbage for this recipe..which is about 2200g... so I will suggest you to cut this recipe is half..but the ratios should be the same... you might want to leave some kimchi paste out..but it should be close enough ~~~
actually It's not the matter of the numbers of napa cabbage head..because the size of the napa cabbage vary... can make a big difference.. What I can suggest to you is... weight your napa cabbage weight if you try one... you can make the kimchi paste as I make in this video... use some of your salted napa cabbage... then freeze the leftover kimchi paste..and use it whenever you want to make kimchi again later... how about that ? ^^
i'm curious if the fish sauce needs to be korean brand or any certain kind? i have a bottle of golden boy brand fish sauce and want to know if that works...

Hi! Do you think you can show us what I call buried treasure kimchi!! (I don’t know the real name) Haha where you put whole shrimp, cod, or pork pieces? I heard the royal court also used to bury pheasant in kimchi.

Hi Margaret, Good to see you. I will suggest to use fish sauce instead..but the saltiness is not the same.. so add the fish sauce at the to your kimchi paste and taste it... and adjust the amount for your taste. :) Hope you like my kimchi recipe. Thanks
Thanks for the quick reply! So those shrimps are very salty? I saw really nice cabbages in State College last week so I am hoping to get there this week again.
You are very welcome, Maggie ~~ :) Yes, salted shrimp can be very salty. I hope they still have nice cabbages over there and you like my kimchi recipe. :) Considering the kimchi price.. it can be a lot cheaper to make kimchi at home ;)
You can also make vegan kimchi using pureed shitake mushrooms, or I'll even use mushroom stock powder you can find at Asian stores for more depth of flavor. I don't really taste strong mushroom flavor doing this method
Megan Freeman so how much do you add, usually? I hate having to avoid shellfish but the price of epipens is so outrageous and I love the guy to death (40 years together and counting) so I'm not looking to court anaphylactic shock!
Another name for sweet rice is "glutinous rice" Here is a info about it from Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutinous_rice btw if you don't have sweet rice, you can also use short grain rice or rice flour (or even wheat flour)
