The 80's seemed like a generation of people who can make a catoon about anything and make it good unlike todays generation of cartoons.

They where way more open minded to new and different things in the 80s and 90s than people are nowadays.
And yea there are a few good cartoons today but most of them nowadays sucks compared to the cartoons in the old days and most of todays cartoons are also mostly made to sell toys because if the toys dont sell the shows get cancelled.

Born in 1981 here. Loved the 80's kids shows. The animation was top-quality and the theme songs were catchy as hell. I've always been a tad critical of the cartoons of the late 90's and 00's. Maybe I was spoiled a bit, but I just liked the 80's animation, which to me was so much better drawn. I'm a much bigger fan of Don Bluth and artists like Carl Barks than people like Butch Hartman. I liked the Fairly Odd Parents ok, but I felt that the animation was lacking. They call it "stylized", I call it lazy. You don't have to make everything look like it was drawn with French curves and T-squares to be stylized.

They way i understood it. Disney mostly just considered this show an experiment. A way to see if tv-animation was a viable business practice for them, so it was never meant to run for very long.

I always remembered I had a puzzle of this when I was a kid with those removable stickers of the characters. I always thought about that puzzle and couldn't remember what the heck the show was called or what it was even about and now I finally remember... *sigh* back when there was good Disney cartoons. now all there is is crappy tween sitcoms that aren't funny. I wouldn't even find them funny if I was that age. they blow.

thedefectality They really need to bring back the classic cartoons.
I don't mind the sitcoms but they sucked balls 1000 times MORE in comparison to the Disney Afternoon shows. Unlike the classics, there's no heart and substance to them. The Disney Junior cartoons for the kids are plausible but they're not the same.

in their defense, we had snarky tween sitcoms too.
      Family Matters
      Clarissa Explains It All
      Sabrina the Teenage Witch
      Salute Your Shorts
      Saved By the Bell
I like Dog With a Blog and Good Luck Charlie because they're not afraid to be campy and ridiculous.

Family Matters is a classic especially with the Disney World episodes along with Clarissa Explains it All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
The others you mentioned are okay at best to me so there are some classics that don't suck balls like the ones today.

Very much like Lady Lovely Locks and the Pixietails (1987) which became an original authentic knock-off of Smurfs and had a similar tone, making it suitable towards girls despite having a beautiful princess whose name is Lady Lovely Locks (hence the name of the cartoon for girls)
Yu-Gi-Oh! (4Kids Entertainment) had a similar plot which Yugi (the main protagonist) had a split personality (as a high school student and a card playing hero)

I guess not many people know this but Wuzzles and Gummi bears were made at the same time, Disney had high hopes for Wuzzles and very little faith in Gummi bears but as we know Gummi bears took off where as Wuzzles didn't and was canned after one season (cartoon season) and thats why most people don't remember seeing too many episodes, because there aren't all that many, only 13 I believe.

One thing that struck me funny years after the show aired was the voice cast. I found out Henry Gibson voiced Eleroo, and Joanne Worley voiced Hoppopotamus. I found that funny, because they were both on "Rowan and Martin's Laugh In" (this was why I found it funny years later, because I was born in 1982, and "Laugh In" was WAY before my time, but my parents watched it when it was brand new).
