That was neat. Almost like an extended prototype of the show's intro. Here, Slimer's more like the little trouble maker rather than the show's comic relief. and the uniforms are all the same tan color like in the movies. Peter's designs look slightly different, though.
The cartoons have never been "denied" as being part of the canon. In fact both the movies and the cartoons (and now the new video game, also written by Aykroyd and Ramis) borrow from one another... I think that Aykroyd and Ramis were smart enough not to alienate the fans of the cartoon, because the cartoon was something that was driving the series heavily for many years... and also helped create a demand for the second movie and the new game they just released.
I have always loved those guys! And do know hard it is to find the full version of the cartoon's theme song? I have heard the Ray Parker Jr's version too much but I love this version better.
I saw those, ha. Amazing how different they are compared to the new game, though I guess some gamers might have similar complaints. A lot have complained about the new game, but I like it a lot.
Yeah, I bought it and it was lots of fun! I haven't watched all of the episodes in the DVD set yet, but I did review the game after I finished it. The review I don't think has come up yet though.
omg at the childhood memories flooding back lol. I can remember coming home from primary school, switching on the TV ready for my fav cartoon! ha ha epic ,also got the game and i love every minute of it,im quite happy just to hear bill Murrays sarcasm any day.
Waaaaaaaait a minute. . . How in the hell did they manage to fit all those ghosts into one trap, let alone STAY PUFT?! Does the trap have hammerspace or something?
I like this version of the theme too. I would really like to hear the full version of the Extreme Ghostbusters theme. This is the first time that I have seen this promo, and it was pretty good. I like being able to see how the early characters looked before their final edit for the show.
The film's theme song, "Ghostbusters", written and performed by Ray Parker, Jr., sparked the catchphrases "Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!" and "I ain't 'fraid of no ghost(s)". The song was a huge hit, staying #1 for three weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and #1 for two weeks on the Black Singles chart. The song earned Parker an Academy Award nomination for "Best Original Song". (from wikipedia)
@bulson08= 2 hit movies, 2 tv shows, video games, toys, and much more. Truly, one of the biggest successes of the Eighties. I saw the first movie at a movie theatre inside a bowling alley. The popcorn was too buttery, though the movie was cool. One of the best part is at the end when Slimer flies right at the screen, trying to break the 4th Wall.
I bout it Tuesday morning and finished it this morning (on the easiest setting)! It's awesome for Ghostbusters fanatics like myself, though less so for hardcore gamers as I understand it. It's for a great "in the movie" experience more than anything, though with a new/original story. Catching ghosts is great fun and real does feel realistic and the way it looks in the movies!
The ghosts look like monsters because if they looked like the typical depiction of ghosts (whitish translucent floating people) they'd be too similar to one another. Drawing them as monsters allows a much wider variety of looks.
Is there any chance I can find the whole entire season on DVD? :3 Too bad there aren't any REAL GhostBusters in real life. That would be awesome. I would soooo join... :3
I really wish I had seen this promo as a kid. I was such a huge fan and it would have blown my mind to hear this version of the song in its entirety!
Whoa, Slimer was a bit of a snot before he became more kid friendly.
And that bit with Stay Puft is so freaking cute. I miss this show.
no doubt, this promo is one of the best iv seen for any show, period!
one of the best cartoons of all time
That was neat. Almost like an extended prototype of the show's intro. Here, Slimer's more like the little trouble maker rather than the show's comic relief. and the uniforms are all the same tan color like in the movies. Peter's designs look slightly different, though.
Wow this is so cool!!! Bring back the ghostbusters!!!
Bustin' makes me feel good!!!!
I wish the actual series had used this dramatic color palette in some of the episodes!
Thank you and Happy New Year.
wow you can tell the diffrence in ray, egon, and peter in this to the show but i do like this alot. thank you for shareing this awsome thing.
Thanks! I'll be looking for it around Best Buy.
great quality video. love it
I havent seen this since it was aired as intersitial material on HBO back in the 80s.
This video = my childhood
I have the game on reserved!! I can't wait to play it!!!
I really doubt it, but it would be awesome if the game had some kind of opener like this!

@LevantineFox SAME FEELING

10/5
About the time he stopped being able to fit in Ecto-1. The guy put on like 100 pounds in the cartoon.
Anyone knows who sings the RGB theme song?
maybe as a bonus
Lucky you!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone knows that... then Slimer got loose at the end, and is present in this cartoon... hence, "Who nabbed Slimer in the PROMO PILOT?"
Some of them look really different than they do in the movie, and others, not so much.
I hope you will. I wish you trillions of luck.
holy crap why is ray on the ecto one and when could you ride on the bridge like that?!?!
I saw those, ha. Amazing how different they are compared to the new game, though I guess some gamers might have similar complaints. A lot have complained about the new game, but I like it a lot.
Try watching this video to Linkin Park's New Divide. It's fits pretty well acually.
I know! Isn't it great?!
Yeah, I bought it and it was lots of fun! I haven't watched all of the episodes in the DVD set yet, but I did review the game after I finished it. The review I don't think has come up yet though.
Busting make me feel good!!!!!
wow!, watching real ghostbusters again with a joint is a whole new appreciation! sick video! cant wait for the game too!
Thanks for posting this!
The Real Ghostbusters is a classic.
Technically, Peter Venkman, Ray Stanz, and Egon Spengler nabbed Slimer in the first movie before they met Winston Zedmore.
omg at the childhood memories flooding back lol.
I can remember coming home from primary school, switching on the TV ready for my fav cartoon! ha ha epic ,also got the game and i love every minute of it,im quite happy just to hear bill Murrays sarcasm any day.
Thanks for sharing this I really wanted to see it when I heard about it. :)

Did anyone notice that Egon's PKE meter makes the same sound as the classic Star Trek communicator at about 1:00?
I see what you're getting at, but that is also why only the movies are cannon!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this show.
pure awesomeness!!!!!
Ray laughs at the term 'fear'! He prefers the wind in his face when catching his ghosts! XD
Awesome Promo!
now thats awesome
Funny how this earlier character design of Venkman had more of a Bill Murray like quality to him than the one we see in the finished series, eh?
good point you are right!
DVD Box Set, seasons 1 through 5 go on sale September 29th
Well why do the ghosts look like monsters and not ghosts, I like how they fought vampires in that one episode though. :D
@CybertronNews22 - DIC was not allowed to use any of the actor's likenesses for the show.. so everyone looks different
that truck driving it's self reminded me of maximum overdrive
personally I was born in the nineties and I love everything ghostbusters even the extreme ghostbusters
I just noticed that they based the toy PKE meter (the one that came with the proton pack) with the one Egon had in this promo!
My money would be Venkman
i loved how in da cartoon the cad e lac had the ghostbuster insignia as the hood ornament
I have the first 3 volumes of the show, just waiting for Volumes 4 and 5 to come out individually and I will be set
i would've liked to of heard this version of the ghostbusters theme in the game
WOW!!!!!!
yes yes!!!!!
I just realized that the toy PKE meter is based on the way it appeared in this promo.
aaarg, i want rgbs dvds so bad!! this pilot is freakin' awesome. and ha, Slimer was evil. and lolz when he grabbed the hotdog.
Slimers driving!!! LOL
Go Ghostbusters!
I love your videos, especially when you guys were investigating ghosts in your college. Are you going to make more?
just wow
Good question.
2:14
is that the skeleton taxi driver?
Because his character is descended from Scandinavians.

It's so weird seeing the cartoon Slimer as a bad guy.
He tried and tried to enter the car, then it dawned on him that he was just too fat for that. :-D
If I can find an effect team that won't quit on me....
Good thing they changed Slimer to a good guy before the show aired.
The ghosts look like monsters because if they looked like the typical depiction of ghosts (whitish translucent floating people) they'd be too similar to one another. Drawing them as monsters allows a much wider variety of looks.
I wonder which of the Ghostbusters nabbed Slimer. Who do you all think nabbed Slimer in this promo pilot?
Anyone has an MP3 version of this Ghostbusters Theme.. it's slightly different then the movie theme.
Yeah it was smart
Buy the game on the 16th.
the only thing that bothered me even as a child.....why does Egon have blonde hair!?
Ladies and Gentlemen!!! I now have the Ghostbusters game!!! It is so cool!!! Try it out!!!
Is there any chance I can find the whole entire season on DVD? :3 Too bad there aren't any REAL GhostBusters in real life. That would be awesome. I would soooo join... :3
Oh, I'm SO glad I saw this....^^ Thanks for Uploading!
Was there ever a reeason for Egon being blonde? So that all four guys didn't have dark hair?
