I have this same exact camera. i didn't upgrade because i think this version is much better than all subsequent models. in fact, think this is the best of the best all around semi-professional traveler's camera out there! So, am glad i saved this video to a playlist way back when you first made it as it is very helpful right now
I love to shoot in manual mode, so I have full control. I bought this camera last year & was having difficulties finding some setting but I saw your video of RX10 iii and few other youtuber's video and found out the help. Thanks a lot for you video. I really appreciate what you are doing to help thousands of people. Taking your own time and making all theses videos to help thousands & millions of ppl all over the world. lots of respect for you.
Super helpful, I think i just have the plain ole rx10 but most of those things worked for meeee! I don't think i can do while balance inside my film mode though.
(P) Program mode is full auto. (A) is Aperture Priority. I prefer to use (A) rather than (M) manual because all I want to change is the F-Stop on the lens to set depth of field and how sharp the image is.
Grant; Sooooo helpful. I'm getting the RX10 II sometime next week, and your video couldn't have helped me more. Next step will be shooting at a high frame rate, (240fps) for slomo. So much to learn about this camera, but hopefully it will all begin to come together after actually having the camera in front of me. Also, will my Mpeg Streamline Media converter be able to convert 4k to 1080p for editing, if I chose to shoot video in 4k. I guess I won't know till I actually try it. Thanks again for taking time to explain, and post. Ron
Thank you, really helpful even for people like me who only have the first Rx10 ;) I still have one question though: In the left corner of the screen/Fn menu at 5:14 one box says "240 fps". I'm assuming this is for quickly changing frame rates. Could you please tell what this function is called in the Function menu set up (you didn't show page 2 so I couldn't see what it's called and I couldn't find it myself somehow, maybe it's not available rx10 m1??...)? I would really like to change framerates via the fn-button because the menu is an absolute nightmare in my opinion so I like to avoid it as much as possible.
+Grant Johnston Oh, so it's not for all frame rates? Yeah I guess that option isn't available for me then :( The rx10 can record up to 60 frames at 1080p and 120fps at 720p. I hoped there would be a way to quickly change from let's say 24 fps to 60fps for example without having to go through the menu every time but I guess not. Thanks for the quick reply ;)
Hello Grant. Thank you for the video. Very helpful. Perhaps you can help me. I use 4 Sony rx10ii’s for multicam capture. One of the camera records 4k as advertised, but the other 3, as soon as I press record while in 4K, they all instantly reboot the camera into 1080. I’m baffled and could use your expertise in solving this riddle. Any ideas. Thanks again. Subbed. Update: SOLVED! Sony RX10ii won’t record 4K if it’s being powered by an external usb battery. It needs an in body battery or a/c power.
Grant; At 2:13, selecting XAVCS HD, can you tell me what size AVCHD, and MP4 are? Why would anyone select these two? I thought AVCHD was 1280x720, but apparently not. Are these two just lower quality? Thanks.
hi Grant, thx from your reply, again pls tell me how come when i used the slow motion shooting, it can only do 30+ seconds, mind to tell me how do u setup your RX10ii slow motion & it can last for 15-30 mins filming pls. Thanks heaps!

Appreciate the kind words thank you.
extremely helpful... thanks
You have no idea how much I appreciate you making this video. Thank you!
I also have RX 10 M2...but now I must learn all about it.
Thanks for the great video.
You have so many accolades and quite rightly so! thanks mate :)
Right after I asked the question, I solved it. Keep up the great work! Thank you.
Good work. chers
Thanks, this was very helpful. I just bought this camera for my own RUclips channel (under another account) and this was exactly what I needed.
+Eric Russell Glad to hear it was useful.
Hey Grant thanks a lot, helped me figure out what settings to use for a project I got coming up!
Cheers Grant. REally helpful. Off to shoot some video
Rob

Thank you! Very useful for RX10 mk1 too. Greetings from Brazil.
I know your video is almost 5 years old but I actually just bought this camera brand new and was hoping your class was still be available?
found this super dialled and helpful, not much out there that enables a user to get the S - LOG and PP happening for instance.
+Totem Brand Yeah there is a lot of tweaks you can make the more you get into the menus. Cheers
Just rec'd camera. I believe that at 3:45, doesn't "A" for stand for aperture. not auto? Or am I wrong?

+Saphir3000 Yes I've assigned the High Frame Rates option to that function menu, I'm not sure that High frame rates was an option on the Mk1? Cheers

why i the white balance setting not available as shoot mode?
How do you set custom white balance on this camera for video?
Bulb mode in this camera?

Why did you set Wind Noise Reduction to off? Does it not help?
It can make your audio sound robotic. Most people will tell you to use a "dead cat" instead.
@@sang3Eta With the Wind Noise off, you risk that you record your own breathing unless you use a mic of course.
Well done & thanks, Grant. By the way, how 's this Sony RXii 's manual focus, is it hard to use it cause some people said it's no good?
+Fred Miu I had no problems with the manual focus as you cold switch on focus peaking to help you and use the optical viewfinder.
Thanks,
Hi Grant, why do you prefer profile 4?
+Social Habitats yes I usually pp3 or pp4 with the Sony cameras as general default.
so are u recomending an aspect ratio of 3:2 for video?
+Prenda Blaque The aspect ratio menu doesn't apply to video.
+Grant Johnston ok
NTSC is just 15 30 60 120 fps.. and PAL is 25 50 100 150 fps.. It has nothing to do with a country
Pic ture mate, not Piture...
