    I can only imagine kung anong capacity nung UPS na ginagamit dati sa workplace namin dati kasi hindi naman siya visible pero ang alam ko lang if you plug it to a specific outlet, we have around 10-mins to save our work and turn-off our machines whenever magkaroon ng brown-out sa office. There were over 300 workstations there! Thanks for this informative video!

    For sizing, what i do is i hook up my entire system to a wattmeter, run it at full load via benchmarks or playing a game and checking the total system consumption. From there, i get a UPS with at least double the capacity e.g. My total system consumption for my rig at full tilt is around 600W so i got a 1600W ups. I read this in i believe an APC white paper that modern UPSs are most efficient at around 50% load although they're efficient down to something like 20%. At around 80%, you're losing some of that efficiency to heat generated by the unit plus noise so 50% max load is a nice number to target.
    Edit: While not covered in the video, if you have the budget for it, you can go for a double conversion UPS aka "true UPS". Runs your pc entirely on battery and it's constantly charged by mains. No switch over and provides consistent voltage and amperage. They're unfortunately expensive and a bit loud. They used to be less readily available. I used to go straight to a distributor but now APC has one on lazada and Eaton has more distributors now unlike before so they're quite easy to find

    I wonder though if there's a hybrid like a ups with an actual battery rather than just capacitors?

    this is a good video, testing each scenario. Yung problema ng UPS is halos every 2-3 years mag ffail yung battery kahit hindi mo sya palagi nagagamit, na dedegrade sya, so you have to have it's battery replaced, and replacing battery needs to be brought to a computer repair shop, price of the battery usually is cheaper, but mostly yung common sizes lang na pang 650va lng, so buying those 1000va UPS is okay but after 2 years palitan mo din ng lower va battery unless meron yung shop ng malalaking batteries which is rare, parang part of the maintenance, for me it is still worth it esp. if yung area nyo prone sa frequent brownouts just in time maka pag save ka, what I usually do is have 2 UPS, one for the PC system, and another one for the monitors + ISP router/modem and when it comes to UPS, I always go with APC brand - Those are built like tanks, palitan lang ng battery okay na ulit.

    • @melalcantara4377
      @melalcantara4377 Год назад

      Problem is it's very hard to find replacement battery for UPS. Even the shop I bought it from said to just replace the UPS if you urgently need it cause most shops/distributors don't have readily available battery for replacement and if you are going to request one for your UPS, it will take months. And yes, based on my experience the battery dies in 2-3 years from using.

    • @dmist24
      @dmist24 Год назад

      @@melalcantara4377 actually yan yung problema ko, yung dati kong UPS na may 1000va, after a year at natapos lang yung warranty lumobo yung battery kaya pina replace ko pero ni-replace is maliit lang na battery yung pang 650va lang. Wala daw silang stock for higher battery. So my current UPS has only a lower wattage lang that is around 300watts compared dati ng 600watts. Wala din ako mahanapan na battery, di ko naman alam mag DIY. Nakakalito din mag search ng battery, 12v 7ah ata yung 650va, and 9ah naman yung 1000va, I might be wrong though. If mag replace ka ng whole unit parang nag tatapon ka lng ng UPS, na dapat yugn problema is battery lang not the unit itself.

    UPS is a necessity especially for us desktop pc users. An APC BR1500MS2 Back-UPS PRO is a good UPS, made in Pinas, true sine wave yung output nya so less conflict with sensitive electronics like battery chargers. If funds allow, it's better to go for the biggest power load capacity like 1.5kVA or 900 watts, for more headroom in back-up run time. Don't overload the UPS, transfer the less essential plugs into the "surge-protect only" outlets of the UPS. Also replace batteries after the 3rd year or so.

      Usually when that happens, there's something wrong with the battery or, in very rare instances, if there's a fluctation, the power returned right as the relay to switch from battery to mains. There's a really short gap where there's no power at all which shuts down the computer.

    Hi, I know this is an old video, but I'm planning to upgrade my rig, my first upgrade will be a PSU to 850watts and then 3060ti (I know 3060ti is okay with 600, but I just don't want to worry if I'll be upgrading to a higher end GPU in the future). I was looking at a ProLink UPS with 1250 VA and as said has the capacity of 936 watts, does that mean it is compatible with 850 Watt PSU or can I get a lower VA with lower Watt rating or will that kill the UPS? My only goal is enough time to send messages and shutdown my pc.

    • @hwsph
      @hwsph  2 месяца назад +2

      getting a lower capacity UPS won't kill the PSU, it just means you might have less time on battery (ie when the ups is powering the system in case of power failure)
      personally with that set up 1250VA is the minimum I would recommend, you can get something below that but you would probably be under extreme urgency to shut down the computer asap

    Hello, Dito ako kasi na curious lang, 650 VA, parang ndi nya kaya ang 2 monitor at cpu .. ilang minutes ba sya icharge or sadyang hindi kaya ng 650 VA, kasi nag brownout at namatay din ang pc, naka amber light sya pag tapos ng shift from 12pm to 3am ph time, is it enought charging point?

    • @hwsph
      @hwsph  Месяц назад

      I can't answer that, I don't know the monitors involved or what you're trying to run on the pc at the time the ups kicks in and what your pc hardware is
      and even if I knew all of those things, as mentioned in the video the rate of power consumption varies, exact same hardware, running the exact same software, using the exact same charge on the exact same UPS, will yield different results
      all of the above said, a 650va ups is roughly good only for a load of 390w, this is also mentioned in the video
      I can imagine this being insufficient for the set up you described

    • @hwsph
      @hwsph  Месяц назад

      yes most ups already have built in surge protection, ie. they also have the same functions as an avr
      (fun fact you're psu also probably has these same protections already built in)

    for me best APC UPS kahit mahal siya it can really save your electronics and i have been using them for almost 15 years and never ko nag ka problema lalo na sa brown out.
    i recommended getting the older version of the APC UPS because its more durable than the newer models. I have both 600 and 900 watts UPS and it always save my electronics during brownouts.
    reagarding the prolink i might try buy the 2000 va for my new pc im building right now kasi di kaya ng 2 ups ko un isa. buying a 2000 va is more appropriate kasi nasa 1000 watts needed sa pc ko.

    budget options to mga to, kahit sabihin pa natin na 2000va parang ewan lang. line interactive eh.
    if you want some serious business UPS, kunin nyo yung APC Easy UPS On-line type. kinuha kong capacity is 1500va lang pero tumatagal ng 30mins on a standalone battery, im planning to buy a expansion battery in the future para tumagal sya ng more than 1 hour even while gaming.
    kahit 1500va lang tumagal sya ng 30mins even while gaming, of course this kind of ups is expensive, nabili ko sya dati for around 18k sa lazada.
