Thank you for doing these videos on the Flow 8. This mixer has so much potential and people aren’t aware of it. You bring a lot of credibility to this mixer and it needs more visibility for sure.
You gave the exact solution to the problem I was having! I'm on tour and using my Flow 8 for the first time as a personal monitor, but only getting the monitor sends in one ear. Thanks!
Hi Drew, thank for your video series. I'm looking to switch from a Tascam Model 12 to the Flow 8 so have been watching your series of videos closely. I would be very interested to learn more about recording acoustic instruments, recording guitar amps via line out(s) and what can be achieved in DAW's with such VST as Toontacks series of plugins.
Hello Drew...firstly amazing tutorials. Need help with below issue: 1)I use lines 1 and 2 for micing my drumset...and sending the mix to the main console via lline outs 2)I use headphones to monitor my mix via headphones jack 3)If I need to input a metronome / click ...and only I should be able to hear it in my headphones...how can I do that ?
Hi, You need to input your click in one of the channels of the Flow 8, lets say in channel 5. Connect your headphones in monitor 1 output instead of the headphone jack. In the app, make your own mix of channels 1, 2 and 5 in the monitor 1 field. In the Main field put the volume of channel 5 to zero so your click does not go to the main mix. This is the way I do in my gigs.
Hi Drew, thank you for the very detailed videos on the Flow 8. My question is.....can I adjust the monitor 1 and 2 to a stereo channel for each. I would like to use these 2 monitors separately for 2 performers where I have a click track on the left and music on the right, each monitor (1 and 2) having this setup. As of now I can only get the click track (left) on each monitor. I tried all configuration with no results.
Hi, You may try this. Connect your click to channel 5, and the music to channel 7. On the app, hard pan to the left ch 5 and hard pan ch 7 to the right. Go to setup and then Routing, in the PHONES field check MON1/2 and check POST. In the MONITOR1/2 field check PRE and check STERO LINK 1/2. You will need to by a small stereo "Y" cable with 2 female connectors and connect it to the headphone jack. This way, you will get 2 separated left and right signals to your performers. The only issue here is that you will have to use the same volume for both. Hopefully this works for you.
I was hoping I could use this as an audio interface and mixer combo for DJing. Ideally, I would have USB 1-2 master mix from my laptop on the main XLR outputs, and two booth monitors connected to the 1/4" jacks on monitor send 1/2. The booth monitors should play the same signal as the master, but with an adjustable volume (like the control room outs on live mixers). Then I'd like to use the phones jack for USB 3-4, for listening to cues on the other decks without playing them on master or booth monitor. Then, I'd like to bring in 2 other DJs via input 5-6 and 7-8, so that when I'm done playing my set, we can smoothly switch to other DJs without having to unplug / replug, the way you would with a DJ mixer. Is that possible? From the videos it seems that the phones output has to mirror either the main or the monitor, and can't be routed to USB 3-4 without also routing the monitor outs to USB 3-4. It also seems that I might not be able to use 4 USB outputs from the computer at the same time as the 4 line inputs on inputs 5 6 7 8. In terms of hardware it seems like everything is in place, but it would require a firmware update to make this DJ use case possible? Did I get this right?
Thanks for the great content Drew. When I do a monitor link, does this mean that the output of each 1/4 inch will be in Stereo? I did so on my Flow 8, and I still hear the audio only on the Left side of my headphones.
Thanks for all the Flow8 videos, much appreciated, I'm trying to play my midi keyboard using Mainstage and record using Ableton, whilst using the one Macbook pro and one Focusright, can't seem to find any videos to address this set up
@Drew, in my trio I do NOT want the two monitor busses linked because I want to do independent mixes for each person. But... I also want to to send ONE of those mixes to my IEMs. This video doesn't show me how to do that. Can you help?
hello drew, can you make a video to get audio from daw back to flow 8 ? In my case,i wanted to mix all my inputs inside daw and send back to flow 8 and send that audio to seperate audio interface for live streaming. thankyou
Hi, I,m Enock watching from Uganda, thank you for sharing great info man..... now just like u pluged in a mic in this video, I would so much love to see this mixer being used on stage with instruments and mics plugged in and also to see how one can set up a channel. thanks
hi we have a x32 producer in our church. also connect one sd 16. the output getting on sd 16 ,but I want to get the local output.please explain how to route the output.
Hello, one question. I connect my headphones to monitor 1 but they can only be heard on 1 side, is that how it works or is there a way for it to sound on both sides?
Is it possible to have a separate mix for phones out and main out? I hope they are still planning to make firmware updates for this and make this possible if its not currently. Like xr12 I think, the phones out can be aux 3 and aux 4
Hi, I'm not sure if this will be right for you, but you may try it. Go to setup/routing and check the MONITOR LINK1/2 in MONITOR1/2 section in the app. Then check MON1/2 in the PHONES section so you can rout your monitors to the headphone jack. Create a mix in monitor 1 and listen to it in you headphone jack. This mix will be independent of the Main one.
@javieralorda4399 hi thank you for your answer. Unfortunately im already using mon 1 and 2 for separate iem mixes for my band and thinking if i can get another separate mix on phones while using main out for backing tracks

Could you at least explanin once what an IEM is? You americans love abbreviations and acronyms not all in the rest of the world know!
In Ear Monitor, a mix send to musicians earphones so they can hear themselves on stage without using floor speakers.
