So what? I see posts like this weekly. Mac user switched to Windows. Windows user switched to Mac. It's a personal preference, like Coke or Pepsi. They both have their good and bad points. Personally I have both Macs and Windows PCs. Linux, too. And Android and iPadOS. I've learned how to use all of them, switch between them, and transfer files between them.
I love Apple hardware. My MacBook Pro M2 is brilliant. But god I hate MacOS. It's so unintuitive and slow compared to Windows even after all these years. Window management and multiple display support is also atrocious with Mac OS. It's just a bit of a mess in general to be honest. The perfect machine would definitely be a MacBook Pro running Windows vanilla style.
I've been using Mac OS since 2009, primarily because at the time it was a better experience than Windows XP / Windows 7. But since then, I become increasing despondent with Apple. Yes, there hardware is fantastic, with the exception of non-upgradable storage, but like you say, I need so many pieces of hardware to function effectively in their ecosystem. I have an M1 12.9-inch iPad Pro with magic keyboard, but it will never be a computer due to the limitations of iPad OS. My 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro significantly outperforms the 13-inch Intel i7 2019 MacBook Pro it replaced, but it has no touch screen or stylus support which is a major drawback, and playing games can involve major effort to get them to run, often dependent on Rosetta 2 and / or Parallels Desktop with Windows 11 arm VM or Crossover (it's easier to run and play games on my Steam Deck than my MacBook). But Apple doesn't seem to care because they are primarily focussed of getting you to buy more of their hardware. Knowing that the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite was in the pipeline, I have been using a Windows Dev Kit 2023 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 arm processor as my daily driver over the past 12 months to see if I can live Windows 11 arm (The Dev Kit is basically a Surface Pro 9 5G with SQ3 processor in a box but with 32GB RAM and an upgradable NVMe SSD). I have been pleasantly surprised with Windows 11 arm. There have been many improvements over this time, with a lot more apps now being offered in both Windows x64 and arm64 flavours, x64 emulation has also improved and is now as good as Rosetta 2. I can run Linux GUI apps seamlessly alongside my Windows apps, and due to recent improvements with Qualcomm's graphics driver plus inclusion of Vulkan support via a hardware accelerated Vulkan / DirectX 12 software adaptation layer, I am finding there are an increasing number of games in my Steam library that will run on my Dev Kit (more than will run on Parallels Desktop and Windows 11 arm VM, as graphics support is limited to DirectX 11 etc). I originally expected to replace my M1 iPad Pro with an M3 model in 2024, but as iPad OS is a waste of space, and cripples what could be an excellent tablet computer if running a variant of Mac OS, I now intend to replace my iPad Pro with a Microsoft Surface Pro 10 with the new Snapdragon X Elite processor and finally have an all in 1 computing device that starts to challenge Apple silicon.
As I’m typing this in San Diego waiting to attend the Qualcomm event, I’m more excited than ever to see this in action. Your gripes are very much my gripes.
That's my biggest gripe with Apple's direction. I want an iPad like device with a full OS to replace my MacBook and iPad as separate devices. Unfortunately that means Apple takes a hit on hardware sales so it'll never happen.
Im gonna be honest. This is an overall good video, but it is also a weird video. Most of the time you are making coffee, driving to the gym, etc... I wish there were more opinion pieces on what you had of challenges, what you liked and disliked.
I appreciate the feedback! The goal was to have a healthy balance of both, and to incorporate more lifestyle to differentiate myself from a standard tech opinion channel. I’ll keep this in mind!
@@thespenceryanwhere your ecosystem thinking is coming from? If you would have an Android phone like a Samsung (and Watch and Buds...), you would know that Apple has not a single advantage in terme of ecosystem.
I actually insta-subscribed after seeing his Day in the Life with the Meta sunglasses video. I actually think his angle of tech within the context of the daily life stuff is what makes the videos compelling for me. I have enough subscriptions of channels that are purely tech, so this channel is a nice change of pace.
You should do this again in June. It's expected Windows laptops will then have comparable chips to Apple from Qualcomm. Look up the upcoming Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10.
This is a great explanatory on both OS, but I guess you still gonna move to MAC back, the fact that it does have a great performance and easy connectivity among other Apple products is still something you can't overlook
Which is exactly something you can say on Microsoft side. If you have an Android phones and Android accessories, the ecosystem is as good as on Apple side. And we all hope that the Snapdragon Elite X will create a "M chip" moment this summer so this will level the playing field.
Saying Mac is more powerful than pc when it comes to productivity is so wrooong, I can easily build a system twice as fast as the maxed out Mac Studio while spending 1000$ less
Mac Studio is currently limited to M2 Max not the new M3. Keep in mind in the entire video I’m referring to an all in one PC that I can take with me. You will not find a more powerful and efficient portable device than a Macbook in this current market.
This is such a detailed and balanced take on Mac vs. Windows! I'm a Mac fanboy but I will admit the lack of gaming support on Mac is very frustrating. Also, I love the "day in the life" style! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks bro! I agree, gaming is a huge area Apple needs to get better at. But they're working on it so I guess we'll see. And thanks man, trying to do more of these types of videos!
My main issue with a Windows laptop was the poor battery life on the Surface Pro 8 and the intensive CPU throttling. I'll keep a Windows device for desktop, and an iPad / Mac Mini combo for Apple devices.
A Samsung Android device, natively, and a Surface do EXACTLY the same stuff as Apple ecosystem. I would like to have some examples of things possible in Apple ecosystem and that is not present on Microsoft / Android ???
Yeah, always surprised by the fact that some "tech" you tubers still have no clue that there is no particular advantage theses days in Apple ecosystem. How can you comment if you have no experience on the matter?
I use to always go back and forth every month between Mac and PC. I own both so I could of course. But down the line I realized some things that moved me away from Windows and back to Mac permenently! #1. Windows has froze on me over 10 to 15 times now. DLL errors, exe errors, blue screen of death #2. Games in Steam have auto closed on me out of no where. Games freeze out of no where as well sometimes. #3. Same issues occured on my Xbox Series X console. #4. The games I own on Steam and Xbox I already own on PlayStation consoles, so why continue to buy games twice, PS and Xbox/PC? Exactly. Over 500 games across PS12345, only 143 on Xbox and 40 on Steam. Ow, and again, I already own the same games on PlayStations, so again, why own Xbox and PC? #5. I kept getting these errors, freezes, crashes, black screens, and tons of problems on Windows and Xbox Series X. I said after 10 times this occurs I can't deal with anymore. After a certain point of crashes and errors you just gotta say screw Microsoft! #6. Apple and Sony devices have never given me errors, freezes, crashes, black outs, screens of death, or anything of the matter at all. (So as you can see Microsoft has just given me way too many problems over the years and it happens again and again and again no matter what brand PC I've had and I bought 3 seperate Xbox Series X consoles over time. Microsoft is just a big failure to me now after all the problems just kept happening over and over again. Apple and Sony really is my future as Microsoft has just shown to many problems to me.
better to use Linux as Mac OS is based on UNIX and Linux is derived from Unix. I like Fedora or Linux mint and software compatibility has got so much better.

Windows User I switched to Mac and switched back to Windows. Then the minimize and close buttons are annoying super tiny and useless, to not talk about the copy/paste function which seem so stupid to me. The only good thing on Mac is that your data are safe if they stole your computer, that's why most of rich people who run huge businesses have Mac because thet can't allow someone stealing their data. On windows if they stole your pc... I wouldn't tell your data are safe.
Do a little more research before filming videos like this. You think Microsoft 365 is equal to an ecosystem? 💀 my android phone is more integrated to my Windows laptop than when I had all Apple trash. Whether that's running my tab S8 as a secondary display, projecting my phone screen on my laptop, etc. Do research try the video again.
I stated a Microsoft account is the closest to an ecosystem experience. Microsoft 365 ≠ Microsoft Account. Your Microsoft account allows you to set up your PC from backups, etc. and I even mentioned Android phones offer more functionality with a Windows PC over an iPhone. I’ve done my research. I’ve been using both day in and day out for years, but thanks for the feedback.
Because I can take out my AirPods, listen to music on my iPhone, seamlessly switch them to a Mac, then take a phone call on the Mac, go downstairs and pick up the music on a HomePod, step out leave my phone behind and listen to music on an Apple Watch with those AirPods, come back home, fire up an Apple TV and listen to a show in spatial audio with the AirPods or just use a HomePod as a soundbar. As far as I know, there’s no ecosystem quite that complete yet elsewhere.

Control Panel has been deprecated since 2012. There are few times you need to or should be seeing it these days.
You’re right. So this begs the question… why does it exist? Doesn’t that just further my point about poor user experience here and there?

Camo for Continuity Camera as well.
