Thanks for another informative tutorial. I bought my first recurvebow at a great store that fitted me with during a 4 hour session (never shot recurve before) and started recurve shooting this week. Your videos got me well prepared at my first lesson. Just small adjustments by the instructor and immediatly groups from about 30-40 cm at 18 meter. Its not olympic level but it got a great confidence boost at my first day. The fact that i shot firearms before helped also maybe a bit, but this is complete different level. At our club we have 10-90 meter targets that gave me instant an enormous respect to olympic/pro archers who are able to hit 10 after 10 at 70 meter. Anyway i love what you are doing and you are a great teacher with attention to detail. Thanks again! also on behalve of my instructor who didnt got a complete retard without any knowledge for a change.
Many thanks for this. I'm a new practitioner. my bowstring is too strong for my muscle strength and didnt know how to adjust the bow. will watch all of your newbie vids. thanks again
Excellent video. A tip is to put a dab of copper grease on the thread of the lock bolt. That will ease adjustment and prevent the bolts galling (they're often steel into aluminium, which corrodes).
Hi just watched your video on draw weight adjustment.very good.have a couple of questions 1 what happens if lock screen is not tightened 2 how many turns can you turn out or in.do factory set these at a neutral position. ie in the middle of thread.back to archery after 45 years.a lot as changed.many thanks Tony
I think to notice on some low end riser that have excentric tiller bolt is that after adjusting your tiller bolts, you need to verify and correct limb alignment (or only do exact full turns :))
Great video, Jake! Keep it going. Anyway, I happen to have a relevant problem with my riser. I have an Epic Fusion EX riser and I can't seem to find its manual anywhere (it doesn't come with one; and nothing on the internet). Tried contacting the certified seller that I bought if from, nothing. Tried contacting the manufacturer and still nothing. I would appreciate if any fellow archer can at least point me in the right direction in order to get the recommended tiller bolt (and even more so, brace height) settings. Cheers!
Can you make a video just showing your bows and talk about them how much you use them what are the positive and negative sides of the bows by mentioning the price, qualitiy, precision and so on.
I have a 2nd hand SF recurve bow and what initially confused me when adjusting the draw weight was the limbs would be loose inside the limb pockets when unstrung. I spoke to someone and apparently this is normal as long as the limbs have clicked in and do not fall out. While you do not mention the loose limbs situation explicitly in your videos, this video and your tillering video seem to imply this. The loose limbs situation disappears when the bow is strung. Is this correct?
Stupid question, is there an indicator somewhere on the bow that shows what the draw weight is being changed to? I've never really been a bow guy so I'm curious.
I've a Kinetic Inviso riser and I've tried asking my coach and the person at the archery store about adjusting the tiller. But specifically my question that no one seems to be able to answer, is how do I know when the tiller is at its minimum and maximum. So for example, I'm only pulling 26lbs, so how do I know if the tiller is adjusted to the minimum so I'm pulling 26lbs before the bolt comes off the riser. I know it's trial and error but I try not to meddle with something I have no clue on, and why I tried asking around and looking online for an answer.
How do you know when it’s time to increase your bow weight. I’m using a plain wooden recurve bow and it’s at about 15 pounds and my arrows have a quite an arch on the way to the target. And sometimes I feel like the arrows are just making it to the target - and sometimes they end up at the bottom of the target. I’m pulling back as far as I can go at this point. I’ve only been taking lessons for about two years and was out for 6 months with a broken wrist. So during my recovery the 15 pounds was a challenge. But not really anymore. Would I have to buy a new bow to go up or just new parts?
Does anyone have the brace hight and tiller bolt turns info for an older W&W Exfeel riser (measures 25") with Winact medium 26 lbs limbs? I've looked through all the old forums I could find with no luck. The only thing I found was an Ebay advertisement selling a used riser in 2007. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks.
@@JakeKaminskiArchery Thank you very much, my riser is twisted a bit and I was wondering if maybe it was caused by myself adjusting the tiller without unstringing. I don't know if it was like this when I bought it.
@@stephanelevy6460 99,9% not because of the tiller adjustment while strung. The only damage can occur to the thread in the riser as it is softer than the bolts and under tension the bolt will cut into the riser thread.
Please, i'd like to know if the "tuning for performance" book is available in e-book/pdf format? I'm very far away from the USA so i doubt international shipping is an option😢
It’s not yet. I have to get into. Kindle. I won’t sell a pdf, those get passed around. I offer $10 to shipping to a fair amount of countries and it’s carried in quite a few places in stock over seas. Check shipping costs at JakeKaminski.com

factory setting is right in the middle of turns, so you can go 2 up or 2 down, which i guess you could return to if you put them all in (4 turns total) and put them back 2 turns

Let's say that i changed the tiller bolts of my Win&Win Riser, How do I find the "Factory Settings" Position that they mention on the manual ?
I’ll be making a video on that here soon!

Should I close one eye when I want a better target?
Yes, you should close the eye on the side holding the bow.

Do I need an higher end recurse bow to have the features of a tiller bolt / ability to adjust draw weight?
does this also change the draw weight?
Thank you for the video. I wanted te ask because i can not find it on google, how many turns have the riser SF Elite plus 25?

What kind of damages can occur to the riser if we adjust the bolts without unstringing ?
The details are in the video, ruined threads, seized bolts.
