- Brian's Best Bits on Have I Got News For You in 2008 all compiled into one 12 minute video. This is a rehash of my older video "Brian Blessed-Best Bits" which, after many requests, I promised to upload a better quality version of it. This also includes far more content. I didn't create the original video, someone else uploaded it and then left RUclips shortly afterwards. Luckily, I had a copy saved to my hard drive, but it wasn't in very good quality beause I had converted it to a 3GP video for my mobile phone at the time. Here, I've recreated the video with better video and audio quality. Enjoy! :)

I'm absolutely dying over here realizing that he's in a TV studio with professional-grade microphones and a team of audio engineers who undoubtedly had at LEAST one rehearsal to calibrate everything, and he's STILL peaking the mic

There isn't a microphone invented that can handle BRIAN BLESSED!
Audio tech here: It's entirely possible the mic just can't handle the Blessed. Those tiny lavs on the lapel are typically condenser mics. Condenser being an early term for capacitor. There is a thin plastic diaphragm sputtered with gold, and it is stretched over a backing plate. The plate and the gold make up a capacitor, and as the diaphragm moves it allows more electrons in or forces them out, forming an instantaneous, accurate waveform. At least, until the diaphragm hits the backing plate.
Typical mics of this category can handle 110 - 120 dB before diaphragm strike starts to happen. Not sure how accurate it is, but there has been a measurement of Blessed's voice that came in at an astounding 127 dB.
Must've sent them all deaf after a few minutes of rehearsal!

The beginning of this has confirmed my theory: being Brain Blessed is a reward for good behavior. You could actually see this chap realizing that it was his turn to Be Brain. "I'm Brain Blessed!
