This game means a lot to me. It has some of the most interesting characters, a lot of which I feel connected to. Anyone could pick up this game and find a character that they relate to a lot (for me, it's Marianne, Bernadetta, and Sylvain). The story made me absolutely astonished, not only because it's very well written, but because the story of past games always felt so disconnected to the characters outside of the main lord and a couple of others, while this game makes it feel like they are all involved the entire story. The music...god I could listen to it for hours. I absolutely love this game and I thank you for contributing to it the way you have. Here's to more Fire Emblem covers! PS - some requests! - Apex of the World - Chasing Daybreak - God Shattering Star - Indomitable Will
I agree on all points except the story. The story felt like *many* parts were either shoehorned in, were poorly explained, never revisited for closure, or straight up made no sense. The greatest offender is the certain underground place in the main story (not the DLC) that was wildly out of setting, and was never revisited as to why all of that could even exist in the world. Rhea has almost no reason to actually hold most of her secrets from a story perspective. The only reason she holds them is to develop Byleth as a more interesting character, but from a narrative standpoint she gains nothing from not telling Byleth what's going on, and in fact would stand to gain a stronger ally, preventing the Edelgard true route from ever happening, possibly preventing the pre time skip material entirely. The DLC is completely unnecessary from a narrative standpoint as well. This is the definition of shoehorning. Does it make sense narratively? Maybe. Does it fit with the timeline? Hard to tell since it would have to happen early on, in which case where do the characters find the time to do all of that pre-Kronya arc? Was it fun and challenging? Of course. I loved playing it, but not for the narrative (personally) Most of the characters are *extremely* tropey, sticking to one or two archetypes and not evolving much as characters. Byleth is *especially* bad about this being a near-silent protag. Not saying other FE games aren't guilty of this, but look at Genealogy, Gaiden, the Radiant duology, or Blazing Sword / Binding Blade. All or most of the main characters experience some extremely worldview-shaking changes. This does not happen to Byleth because he/she is supposed to be the "edgey silent" character. We see some *relatively* short conversations between classmates that feign growth, but you can count on one hand the amount of characters that experience actual personal shifts over time. Pretty much Marianne, Lysithea, arguably Lorenz and Hilda, and maybe a couple others. Bernie, a fan favorite? She is still a shut in at the end of the game. I could go on, but I wouldn't mark this game down as one with extraordinary storywriting *or* storytelling. Want to see mastercraft storywriting and telling? Shado Gremory Yeah the story was a bit sloppy but the characters did develop if you did their supports for example Sylvain: Goes from a guy who just wants to flirt with girls to a responsible man that now has to take the responsability of being the Margrave Gautier Bernadetta and Mariane: Both leave their shy and reserved selfies behind an develop on character who almost feel alive Dimitri: He goes from a reserved young noble to a ferocious beast who only wants one thing, Edelgards head. But after the death of Rodriguez he realizes that there is a kingdom in need of him and he realizes that he has to become the king that will save Forlán from its 5 long years of suffering and war. These are not the only ones who develop but this game will forever be in my heart And also I don’t know why but I’ve developed such a love for blue lions that when I played the other routes it was hard seeing how I couldn’t save Dimitri but I would always save the others
It's been one year since that day, the day the Fire Emblem fanbase changed forever. We all thought the influx of Fates fans was overwhelming, we weren't prepared for what was to come and we couldn't be happier. Here's to the prosperity of one of the greatest video game franchises of all time!
I’m absolutely addicted to Edel’s song Three Houses has seriously grown to me, no previous Fire Emblem could make me get so attached to the many characters.
As someone who grew up under a religion that taught me to hate myself for what I was, I can't thank FE3H enough for giving me such characters as Edelgard and Hubert. I chose the Black Eagles on a whim because I liked the mascot and Lord the best out of the three, not knowing how important that would be for me. I unlocked Crimson Flower without even knowing it was something I had to unlock, because Edelgard and Hubert felt the same way I about Rhea that I did (well, my feelings about Rhea were more akin to Bernadetta's to be completely honest). To be able to take down something akin to my childhood demons in a video game felt so good.
I hope you're in a better place now and I'm sorry that you went through hard times in your life. Not every religion is bad. I believe in Christianity, and God saved me multiple times in my darkest years. I pray that you find peace in yourself.
@@amandagreene7008 Uh it was Christianity and their god that caused me such strife in the first place that I am still dealing with the after-effects of but I'm glad your God loves you at least
@@waxwinged_hound God wasn't the one who made you feel that way. I know what it's like to hate oneself, I've been through that and I still struggle with depression, anxiety, and PTSD - feeling completely broken and worthless. Many people have hurt me for most of my life. But the Lord will always love you as his child, whether you choose to come back to Him or not. I hope you find your way.
I got this game while I was still playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the first time, so I wasn't really into this game at first, but once I finished Xenoblade 2 and started focusing on this game, I absolutely loved it and the cast of characters, even more than Xenoblade 2 (which I also really liked). It will always be one of my favorites and also one of the most memorable games that I have ever played.
Fr though. Senior year of high school I saw the E3 trailer for this thing and immediately tried everything I could to find this song and listened to it to the point of memorization. I can still remember playing ghost recon wildlands with my boys when I found a video of the title theme. Crazy how little shit like that sticks in your brain for good.
Wow, man. A whole year. ...It's maybe a bit bittersweet to say, but when Intelligent Systems *REALLY* put their minds to it, they can create such fantastical worlds filled with such a wide variety of characters. Keeping to the game's long standing core mechanics while finding fun ways to expand on it's formula. (Is totally 100% not throwing shade at IS for half arseing Paper Mario. Definitely not. Nope.)
Never have I gotten more attached to a video game character than I did with Mercedes. Why Mercedes? I have no idea. I just like her, I guess. I cried over her at least once in two routes (the middle of those times was more for Dimitri, but she was still involved), one being VW when I had to kill her, the other being CF in her supports with Jeritza.
That was me with Bernadetta. I was also really attached to Mercedes but I just felt more attached to Bernadetta than any other character, except for maybe Marianne.
The celebration of the creation. “Joyful time where the participants of all of Fodland come together and celebrate the great creation of the continent, Work is off for the day and great meals will be served in the capitals of each respective territory; including Garreg Mach. Folclórical dances will also be done in open areas in designated locations such as: The open water dance hall in the Alliance and other areas. Thank you for being a part of this community.”
Ah the bopping main theme to a game filled with bangers, I think I could listen to the FE3H soundtrack on loop for weeks without getting bored of it. So good!
This is an amazing song, and it's dedicated to a great character, though my reasons for liking her are different from her fan base. I actually don't agree with her ideology or actions at all. With that said, even if I don't agree with her, I can understand her. She does what she honestly thinks is best, even if others don't agree with her. Her backstory makes her a compelling characters and an incredible antagonist.
This song made me a fire emblem fan no joke
This was the biggest reason I think I was happy with Byleth in Smash (still a really fun character :) )
It’s a fukin bop I get it
Oh man, first hearing this song, made me want to buy the game a few years back, and I officially became part of the fandom that day.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one 😆
