Thank you for this video. My first time to use the canner for cold tomatoes. After reading manual I had more questions than answers and YOU answered all my questions. Looking forward to watching more of your video. Thank you.
When doing traditional canning on top of stove with hot product going into hot jars I would always cover my jars with an inch of water above lids. My Presto canner which I just received 2 days ago, didn’t have but one full line which is where I put my room temp water in before putting tomato filled jars in canner. Was that the right thing to do as far as water level goes? Last, I followed your instructions to the tea in to your video (again thx) and canner is in cool mode now but my unit never vented. Should I be concerned?
Thank you very much. I haven't cold canned yet. Just put 7 pints of hot packed beans in. Going to try this method next time : ) Your black beans look gorgeous!
Thank you so very much! I have liked and subscribed. As a new Presto digital canner, I couldn't find cold pack and came across your channel! Great video, clear instructions and I THANK YOU! I've got my first batch of herbed potatoes in!!
Thank you for doing this. I just harvested my black beans and got about a gallon of them (so proud of that silly little thing too lol). I was wondering if I could do it this way in my Carey electric pressure canner. You just saved me from having to go looking for that information lol.
Thank you Chelsea for creating such informative videos! Every morning I look forward to watching and learning from your videos. I am sure there is a lot of work behind the scenes we as viewers don’t realize. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your hard work and knowledge!!! Have a beautiful day! ✨🧑🍳🫙💞✌️
Interesting. My insert only has one line on the inside. My lid is different too. The vent is in the front. I'm assuming that top line on the inside of yours would be for the water level for water bath canning the pints. Since I don't have that, I added the right amount of water and then marked one of my wooden spoons with the level needed. That Presto Digital Canner was the best thing I bought myself!
@@Our_Urban_Homestead Possibly. I bought mine last year for a birthday present to myself. December "babies" get to take advantage of Black Friday sales for ourselves. Lol
I just found your channel. Thank you for the video. I just got my Presto Digital Electric Pressure Canner. I bought mine from Amazon, and the pictures all show the regulator like yours, but mine is completely round, and there are no markings such as venting/canning. I must either have an older or a newer model. Hopefully, it works the same either way.
Hi Sally! Glad you enjoy the videos! I can milk a lot , but don’t recommend it in the electric canner. It takes too long to cool down and in my experience it scorches.
Hi, I've only ever canned with pre-soaked beans and i like that theyre soft and creamy. I've watched other cold pack no soak bean videos and ygey say the beans come out "firmer." But excess exactly is that? Can you eat them right or the jar in a salad? Or are they too firm and only good for recioes where they are going to be fully cooked. I LOVE this option, since you don't have to plan ahead!😅 Thanks!
@Our_Urban_Homestead Thanks!! I'm definitely going to try it out after Thanksgiving. I figured even if they were a little firm, I could always cook then a little longer on the stove. And if it was in a hot recipe, they would cook more as well.
Thank you so much for sharing! I've had my PDC for a year, and still learning. My question is how long do I need to wait before I can use it again? Can I use it immediately or do I need to wait for awhile?
I searched many videos before finding this.
Thanks so much for doing this video to bypass the heating process.

What size is your pressure canner? I have a 12 quart and it will not pressure can quarts.
@@lisakirsch6388 this is just the standard presto precise digital canner. I also have a 18qt stovetop presto and a 36qt All American canner
@@Our_Urban_Homestead it is the 12 quart. But I read it wrong it don't water bath quarts. Thanks for answering.
I contacted them and was told that no, cold canning is not possible.
My information came directly from a phone call I had with them 🤷🏻♀️
