When I was a little girl my sister Teresa and I got gorgeous vinyl dolls in our stockings and while she was in her element I was disappointed because the doll was beautiful to look at but didn't do anything. Daddy went out for a little while and returned with a wee puppy for me so I gave Teresa my doll and was very happy with my puppy.
Thank you for such a lovely tutorial, I can’t wait to get started! Strangest thing in my stocking was a can of black olives since I love them! Nicest thing was a pair of gold earrings from my husband!
the worse thing I got in my stocking was nothing. I had put goodies in all the stockings, thinking my husband would stuff mine! Hummmm....but the next year, and every year since, he has stepped up to the plate and I have gotten something wonderful. Love the scrappy look. I may make new stockings for us this year.
Omg! I thought my husband was the only one who did that too me! The second year I made sure that we went around the room and each person opened their stocking, my husband stepped up after his mom yelled at him about not filling my stocking!😂
*_Oh no!Well I'm glad he finally caught on! trust me when I tell you....my husband does not put anything in mine either.....except the phone the one year!! My stocking is a limp biscuit LOL😂_*
Thank you so much for this video. I was looking for something that I could make with my 97 year old Mother this Christmas. My Mother is remarkable. She taught me to sew when I was very young, around nine years old and I have been sewing ever since. My Mother still lives alone about five minute from my sister but for the last few years she lives the winter months with me and my husband. He spoils her so much as does my sister’s husband. Last year she started a quilt but didn’t get very far with it. This year she wanted to work on her quilt. At 97 ( she will be 97 her birthday December 13th) she can only work a vey short time before she has to rest. This stocking is perfect for her do while we are working on her quilt. I have a ton of Christmas prints and she has so many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that would love to have something that she has made. This is perfect. Thank you again for sharing. Ann from Va.
I’ve Never had a Christmas Stocking…..😢. My kids never had them either, just not part of the Christmas ‘thing’ for me. So I finally got with the programme and made them for my grand children🎉. I have a brand new baby granddaughter. Sh3 will be 6 weeks old at Christmas so I’m excited to make her stocking. 🥰
My favorite gift was a Toni doll. We never got much so I never got something I disliked or thought was weird. Thank you for this tutorial. Merry Christmas Everyone! I make Christmas stockings for our church missionaries that look like a white shirt, tie and black pants. So fun!
Best stocking gift: eight inch straight trimmer fifty (!) years later, I still use 'em. Love your presentation style--I feel like I'm having a chat with a friend
And again you produce another sewing tutorial video on a topic I've not yet seen on RUclips! This is why I look forward to your tutorials so much! Very nice stocking - really like the scrappy look of it and especially the strategically placed Merry Christmas scrap fabric. I've been wanting to make a few, but have just never gotten around to it and had to resort to store-bought ones - just too busy working full time, shopping, cooking, chores, etc. As for past Christmas stockings, I've honestly not gotten one. My 2 husbands never gave gift giving a lot of thought, especially with respects to Christmas stockings, so I made sure I stuffed my own with a lot of cool stuff!!! I made sure that my family and step-kids always had full stockings on Christmas day. 🎅🏻🎄 It was what the kids went to first, which always made me very happy, knowing how much they looked forward to all the goodies inside! 😀
*_Dori...I usually don't have much in my stockings either...and like you , I'm always making sure everyone else has theirs stuffed FULL!!! It's so funny because my kids always went for the stocking with excitement too❤️ Sometimes it's easier to just buy stockings LOL😂Life is so busy sometimes...Merry Christmas Friend🎄_*
I received a puppy in my stocking one year when I was a little girl. Thanks for showing us how to make this adorable patchwork stocking from scraps. Merry Christmas to all 2021.
I'm looking forward to making this. My least fave in my stocking was a candy I really disliked, probably licorice, I forgot. My fave was an amethyst ring my family gave to me and the most unusual was some block cheese, but I can't say I didn't like that, LOL.
I cut up a old bedspread in stocking shapes sew strips directly on shape trim make a sandwich of lining ,front and back. Also make cuff larger and sew it to open in back to make it easier to embroderied
When I was a kid, we got fruit & nuts in our stockings & our gifts were under the tree. But, as I got older I got things like a transistor raido or a 17 jewel wrist watch (aged myself didn't I) LOL Are you using a knee press to raise your pressure foot?
*_Hi Joy...yes I'm using a knee lift...it came with my machine....and it's a game changer...I LOVE it!💜A transistor radio would have been so cool to get!!🤓_*
Hi! Thank you for this stocking tutorial! I am hoping to make stockings for my family this Xmas. Just have one question, I noticed that you didn't hem the bottom of the cuff. Is the cuff material not going to unravel? Thanks!
@@TheSewingChannel Thank you! I love your channel!!! I watched Angela Walters for yrs FMQ. But watching you just jump in gave me the courage to give it a try!!!! I love it!!!
When I was in junior high my parents hid all of our gifts in the garage and put coal in our stockings!!! All of us kids cried our eyes out and even after they pulled out our gifts the whole day was so sad. I never ever did that to my kids!!!
i'm making memory scrappy stockings from clothing of my mom & dad. i though about fusible fleece & thought the stockings might be too thick. they're about 13 x 18. have you ever used just an interfacing like pellon 880f sof-shape? i wonder if an interfacing is too thin & the stockings (w quilting cotton lining) would feel too lumpy. i also thought about using Christmas flannel as the backing/lining (w/o any other batting). your thoughts, pls?

As a kid...always looked forward to the Lifesavers Assorted Box in my stocking.
That brings back childhood Christmas memories for me too🎄
Always my favorite. My brothers would trade for favorite rolls. I loved the Bitter Rum Lifesavers.

Cute awesome
Hi, I wonder if you do the magic tote for these so there are no seams showing on the inside
*_yes ann you can do the magic tote with "pinked" seams instead of the french seam that I typically do on them✅_*

How can I find out when the next auction is?
The auctions for the sewing goodwill items only happen with a goodwill video at the time of uploading ✅
what kind of batting did you use?
Fusible fleece for the stockings or any batting will do for this.
