- This Video is from one of my several visits to World Trade Center. I visited the 107th floor observation deck couple of times but only once got the chance to visit the roof top as it use to be usually closed due to high wind pressure. It was once in a life time experience as there will always be only one WTC which got lost on 9/11... #WeWillNeverForget

It’s about everything before that. Can’t we remember just how majestic and beautiful they were and how lucky you were to go up there to experience that ? Im very grateful that these people shot this vid when videos were in such an early stage these minutes are now priceless and they were before also !!!!
I remember when I was 16, I went on holiday to New York with my best friend and her family right after we did our GCSEs and we were lucky enough to get to go up to the 107th floor observation deck while we were there. It was an amazing experience, one that I'll never forget. That was in the Summer of 1996 and we're still very close friends 26 years later. The Summer just gone she and her husband came with me and my wife on another trip to New York. It was the first time we'd been since then and while we were there we went to the 9/11 memorial. When we got there she said it was unbelievable that we went up there when we were kids and now it's gone. Love from England and thoughts to those who lost their loved ones on this tragic day. 💗
I wish i was in The World Trade Center in New York, and i was on holiday in New York 2012 and my age was 9 - 10 years old but that time in 9/11 2001 i wasn't born yet, because i was born in 2002 then this World Trade Center be destroyed but i still remember my memories, on the holiday in USA. 🤨
It takes balls to get that high..I love airplanes but I hate heights and outside an airplane Id never get that high!

I was on top of the roof of the south tower in May 2001 with my then 14 year old son. No pictures or videos do justice of the beauty and architecture of towers. God bless the USA!!

That's all I could think of as well.. "so that's what the jumpers saw" .. turns my stomach. I cant even begin to imagine the terror in these people to jump from that height. My heart breaks once again for all the victims of this tragedy. Whatever 9/11 was, became or should have been.. these were real people, in real terror..
Oh I know, I can’t even imagine having to make the decision to jump. Even though those people were surrounded by smoke and flames, to actually take that step out took great courage. Horrific way to die, nobody should have to go like that.
It’s sad that they saw people jump before them and saw what happened to them knowing they’d have to do the same

I honestly don’t think I would have been able to jump. I’m terrified of heights.
They were not just buildings that were destroyed. Those two buildings were full of people, loved ones, working to support their families and themselves. Thousands of people were killed and thousands more are missing them. Kids that grew up not knowing their parent that was killed. So many had to jump from these windows because it was the better alternative than being burned to death. We will never forget this horrible day.
I live in Northern Ireland and was fortunate to visit the WTC back in the '70s. Now, you must understand that at that time, the tallest building in Belfast was Windsor House, 23 stories, 80m tall and I thought that that was big, but I could not take in the sheer size of the towers. From the ground, looking up I had to lie flat on the sidewalk to prevent my being dizzy. From the top looking down, I could detect the imperceptible sway of the tower. It was a magnificent experience and one that I have always treasured.
My husband took me up to the South Tower Observation Deck in 1980. It was an overwhelming time, and the winds were so strong, I remember that. - Continued prayers for all the people that have been impacted by that tragic day of 9/11. Rest in Peace for the departed.
I was on the 107th floor observation deck and the roof observation deck in 1998 for a class trip. I was in 7th grade. It was incredible. Truly amazing that they don’t exist anymore. Hard to believe.
What a great video...that outdoor roof observation deck on the south tower unbelievable ..... Gives me chills in my spine what people went thru to jump from that height...what horror. RIP

I went to NYC for a school trip in 1982 and we went to the observation deck outside.
i was up there once. it was so high up you could see four different states on a clear day. and i was shaking on the roof holding the railing on the roof. even tho it wasnt even close to the edge. its really weird cuz i visited once and never hesitated to goto the viewing deck of wtc. but didnt even care to see the viewing deck of the empire state building. but i think wtc was a little more popular after the 93 bombings for tourists.
Their body would have shut down so they wouldn’t have felt pain thankfully.
Honestly, I would have been terrified being on the top floor on a normal day. I have a fear of high buildings, so I know I couldn’t have handled being up there. I just can’t imagine the people who jumped out or hung out of the window for air.
I was in the elevator about to go up with friends, and suddenly said Nope and went outside to wait for them. I couldn't do it. The waving white towel is most upsetting to see:(

This footage of the road zoomed in and out really kind of made me sick to think of how dire it must have been to leap out to the ground... a LITERAL NIGHTMARE. How many nightmares have i hadnfalling out of a building only to jolt out of bed the minute i hit the ground.

Rare footage! Almost unbelievable that it ever existed. If you haven’t yet gone to the 911 Memorial, add it in your must see list. We went last July and it’s a feeling like I’ve never felt before. Being there, knowing what happened, seeing all the pictures and reading about the brave women and men, it’s very impactful. A tribute, like no other. 💔💔

Imagine having to choose between burning alive or jumping out... You can clearly see in this video just how high up the people hanging onto their lives were. Just imagine sitting on a window sill, not caring if you happened to fall out...

I was up at the observatory at 1999 at January. pretty cold but was clear as crystal. I can never forget those buildings.

9/11, People were leaning and hanging out windows for air way up there. This perspective really does bring the reality of it for those poor souls.

I was there once, in 1986 but now only recall a few “snapshots” from my visit: the elevator ride; viewing the Empire State Bldg & Statue of Liberty; feeling the building sway. Seeing this video is like someone lifting a veil that was clouding my memories.

Great footage! Brings back memories! I was on the observation deck in 1976, it was just like this video, all the antenna and other structures. Looking to the other tower with its high antenna I could see the two towers moving relative to each other. In fact I later learned that they move 6 feet off center at the top of the tower. So with both towers moving I saw them moving toward and away from each other like a giant tuning fork. Quite alarming it was.

The Washington Monument in DC is so thin you can easily see it go from side to side. I go there all the time and it's kinda scary. I've been up there a couple times too and you can even feel it. Wicked!
The enormity of it's destruction is overwhelming. Just looking at the size of these buildings & how within 2 hours it was reduced to rubble I can't comprehend
as if it had been detonated with bombs placed prior to the attack, right?

@Polin Ese No it’s obvious how bad of shape the buildings were in after the tremendous impact of the planes full of jet fuel travelling at 550mph. Especially the south tower it was instantly apparent that it wasn’t going to survive long. No free standing man made structure is going to survive the impact of an enormous jetliner at full speed, full of fuel.
Anyone who actually believes those buildings came down due to the impact of planes are just as dangerous as the sick government that was running the country that day. Even the Japanese firm that built them buildings said it was made to take impacts bigger than those planes that hit that day. The firefighters who survived that day reported hearing explosives going off inside the buildings and the icing on the cake Mr Silverstein who owned those buildings took out a huge insurance policy just 6 months before. But we are all conspiracy theorists 😂

Always sad to see the plaza after some of the pics I've seen of that of people that had jumped. It genuinely haunts me every day that someone had to make a choice to burn or jump to death when maybe half hour before they were probably thinking decaf or cappuccino...

I enjoy these videos of the original World Trade Center. Such a timeless silhouette those big, rectangular Twin Towers cast over the city. Its a shame that they will forever be remembered in such a horrific, tragic, sad light. Its not quite the same, but the new One World Trade Center I think honors these buildings well IMO.

I remember being in car seeing just glimpse of the bottom of the building, it was so tall you couldn't see it out the windows
When i was a kid my Mother signed me up for these day trips. I believe it K&L tours out of Philadelphia. One of our trips was to New York and the World Trade Center. We all went up to the roof on the observation deck. I'll necer forget looking down on building that where considered big and very tall but looking small that day. You feel like you can see for ever up there.. Im glad i got to experience that considering what has happened to both buildings.
Looking up at the towers at the start of the video... I think of the firefighters who were there when the first tower collapsed... they heard the sound, looked up, and saw the tower coming down. Can't begin to imagine, not for one second, how it looked from their perspective and the dreadful fright they got.
No one died that day, they were all actors

Funny story. That black building at 1:50. That's the building that replaced the famous old skyscraper, The Singer Building which got demolished in 1968. It was in that exact spot right there back when 70 Pine Street, 40 Wall Street, and the Whoolworth Building ruled the southern skyline.
As a former New Yorker in the 90s i always assumed the towers would be there, so never took advantage of going to the rooftop because I thought I would get round to it one day. A friend was visiting me from France and she got to see the observation deck but I couldn't go because I was working that day. The nyc skyline was never the same after that
I worked in NYC in 1988 and 1989 and the skyline is not the same. The twins made the skyline so grand and outstanding. It was like coming to a different world on another planet like in a science fiction to see such amazing buildings

NYC is amazing! Unfortunately when I went to NYC everything was still a mess at the site. It was so moving to be so close and to see the destruction up close.
This just makes my stomach tingle...I have been to the Empire State Building and that elevator ride was fast, and the observation deck was exhilirating. This was even taller, faster, and I am sure scarier! What a gift you got to experience it though!

@Nathan Lo Presti I'm pretty sure that prior to the 9/11 attacks, or if they didn't occur, there would still be people who wouldn't want to go up in buildings that high. Though I am sure some people, probably many people, are uneasy about going up in skyscrapers because of terrorist attacks.
I went up the new tower in 2019. I won't lie. I was nervous 😅😅😅. It's a long way up and even longer looking down!
The buzz in the video footage is most likely RF interference from the antennas on the north tower.
I wonder if they would interfere the same way with "smart"phones ?

I purchased the beautiful book “This Very Tree” by Sean Rubin recently and will treasure it always. It’s a heartbreaking story of the tree that survived 9/11, illustrated & told in the “eyes of the Tree”.

Been there back in 1995. Couldn't go to the roof top because it was closed as you explained. I remember there were some shops and even some sort o cafeteria on the top floor. Just after I left the elevator I felt some dizziness because the building was moving. Spent almost two hours up there and the rest of the afternoon with a mild motion sickness.
Amazing, I did the exact same takes back in the summer of 2000 and are kept on a Vhs cassette. Last time i saw the towers with my eyes was on the 6th of sept 2001
These footages remind me year 1983,I was 12 and traveleled to NY,and have been in WTC at floor 112th,I remember the neverending sight all over

I made a trip to NYC in 1999, got a great shot of the world trade center from the observation floor of the empire state building.
It still blows my mind 20 years later that 9/11 actually happened. First time I went to the towers was in the 5th grade for a field trip in the early 1980’s.
On the 77th floor there were railing that if you stood on it and leaned your head on the glass you felt like you were flying. Only problem was if you slipped you fall about 20 feet and yours truly tried it and got ripped to pieces by security and my teacher. I don’t blame them, it was incredibly stupid, but I was 11 and a bit nuts lol
I miss the towers, last time I was in those buildings was the north tower in 1999 on a date. They were something special.
I currently work downtown on pine st in Manhattan a few blocks from the freedom tower, I haven’t gotten the nerve to step inside the building yet.

i was only a few months old and it took a lot of nerves to go into the freedom tower. Just the entire downtown area doesn’t feel right to me. It doesn’t feel right the way they rebuilt everything. It’s so eerie

@@mchris65 I think I remember seeing an interview with a woman who was in the World Trade Center when the 1993 bombing happened. She was a kindergarten teacher and had taken her students there for a field trip (she and her students were all unharmed, luckily). As someone who's worked with 5 and 6 year olds, that sounds absolutely insane to me. 😂

I was born in 1992 and i remembered 911 like it was yesterday. My mom just finished dropping me off at school and about 30 mins later she comes running back to pick me up.

i went up there July 2001 ( first and last time ) to the observation deck outside I'm not sure if I remembering this correctly but i recall a electric fence outside the gated perimeter and warning signs , my guess was to prevent tourist from going over the gates .
It wasn’t really an electric fence. Just a fence with barbed wire.
Two months later in September the towers went down.

Great video of the elevator 🛗 but really none chilling and creepy to think how many people were on the elevators on September 11th when the planes ✈️ hit the WTC. Really scary exactly how high and tall the old WTC was and that people had to jump to their deaths. Hope it was quick and not prolonged suffering. May they all Rest In Peace.
I went to the top on early November of 1989. It was strange because you didn't walk on a flat roof. There was a walkway built up on the roof that you would walk around. You could feel the building sway in the wind. It was scary but very exhilarating as well. There were no metal detectors or people to check you or anything. Just went to the desk, paid $7.50, and got on the elevator. I actually thought the elevator ride was the scariest part because it took you from the ground to the top floor. (an escalator took you from the top floor to the roof) I had a fear of the elevator falling.
I have selfies of me and my best friend on the rooftop deck. It was my favorite part of New York.
I was blessed to visit them January of 2000, And August 2001
They were beautiful buildings. Those poor people who had to choose between jumping and burning alive sticks with me the most from that horrible day.

Saw Irish Echo article about how they called him to help in trying to save people, after planes hit! Terrible😢😢😢

Visited the observation deck in '98, the main reason I went to New York was to experience standing at the top, thank you for the nostalgia trip, they were truly magnificent buildings
I can imagine the poor ppl trapped looking down there. So high, so dangerous, so painful... some of them preferred to jump to the certain death than burn. I'm so sorry for them. May they resting in peace.

You did see the explosion when the plane hit the tower right? I cant imagine anything was working after that so won't have been much recording happening

Being from the UK, I always dreamed of going to New York and on my first visit with my girlfriend she gave me the choice of going up the Empire State building or the twin towers but not both as she wanted to shop. I chose the twin towers and was amazed at what a beautiful buildings they were and when at the top, how little wind there seem to be. I went back in 2016 and paid my respects. As someone who grew up in London in the 70s when bombs were going off due to the IRA I can relate to how New Yorkers feel about them not being there anymore. All terrorism brings is pain and sadness and never achieves its goal.
There's always buzzing in these WTC videos from all the interference by the structural steel and the TV mast on Tower 1

The view form outside at the top really was fab!!!!
I'm one of the few people who has had the opportunity to walk outside on the top of the building 6x I've been to the observation deck 14x in 8 visits we couldn't go outside due to high winds. I'm lucky to be 400 feet from 2nd tower on 911 when the 2nd plane hit.
Stood from that view as a Tourist 2 weeks before 9/11. Still what makes it so tangilble for me 9\11. RIP to all those souls lost
Im from NY and I saw the world trade center up close and personal from the ground level years ago when I was younger i never ascended though. I was looking it at from outside on the street. It was a mighty site that's for sure.

I miss them and I wasen't born yet beacuse this Happened in 2001 but I was born in 2002 and sometimes the world will be changed in they next years it's good and bad sometimes 😏😒

Imagine Philippe Petit rope walking between the towers several times and even laying down and looking up. That’s one brave soul. And so are the men and woman that had to jump. They were brave Americans.

Awesome video, really sad to see it after the attack, I only have one problem it was my understanding that you couldn’t go from the ground to the top on one elevator, you had to change on the 78th floor and that was the floor hit by the second plane
