Great reaction! I'm an old guy from Texas who grew up on the rock music of the 60s and 70s and who "discovered" Nightwish several years ago. I really enjoy watching the first time reactions of people like you who are as blown away as I was by this amazing band and who get drawn in exactly as I did. I'm subscribed to your channel and looking forward to your next Nightwish reaction! (BTW, you can't go wrong with the set from Wacken 2013 - EVERY song is different and every one is dope). Welcome to the multigenerational, multiracial, multinational Nightwish Army!!
This song is from the second lead singer ,Anette Olzon, era. she didn't do operatic vocals, a choir did that part originally. Floor can, so she took over that part when she joined.
Every song at this Wacken 2013 show was written for one of the first 2 singers. Floor had only been with the band about 10 months , having taken over mid tour. She added to the originals and made them her own.
Tuomas(keyboards and primary songwriter and composer) likes themes of Stories and childhood innocence. he is also a fan of Disney and composer Hans Zimmer.

Isn't it refreshing to listen live music concert that has no autotune's and such?
Those American pop Princesses mostly have autotune and every other device that helps them sound like they'd sing from studio. Pink might be 1 of those true artists that actually sings, and does it well too.

Welcome to Symphonic Metal and the Nightwish Army. Being symphonic metal allows them to take their music just about anywhere. The long, epic, grand songs like GLS... but also several of the more traditional metal style songs like this one. They have songs with a bit of that Celtic Rock kind of vibe. But, no matter the basic style song they are going for they all will have those signature symphonic elements that gives the music that distinct full, rich sound. Soon you'll see why the Nightwish army loves it all.

I'm with you there man. The love and energy on that stage, the talent, the energy from the crowd. The happiness everywhere. You can feel it through the screen. I wasn't at this show. I was at a smaller venue, and more recent, but it was the same. So amazing. This is one of my favorites of all time. The lyrics, the way she runs through the chorus, the tones she chooses and the vocal fry. Really catchy too. It just builds after that very surprising and amazing classical section, after she gets 82,000 people clapping with her (less one time traveler). It never, ever fails to make me happy. I vote Everdream next, from this show, but honestly, anything from this show, and pretty much anything live by them you can't go wrong. They have a surprisingly wide range of styles, and no two really sound alike. Some are heavier, some less so. All amazing. Gabriel I am sure posted a great list.
I think that dude with the straw hat that doesn't clap is hillarious. Wtf did he do at that show? In one of the other songs, he looks around himself, looking puzzled.. Like "what are people going crazy about"?🤣

Nightwish as a band are so full of talent, all of them just the top of their crafts. Floor is amazing, the first time I listened to her I was amazed. Today almost 3 years later, still constantly amazed by her. Her vocal range is limitless, you think you hear her lowest low, then she will go lower, and you hear her highest high, then she goes even higher. Every lyric or sound she makes vocally, is planned and massaged into exactly what she is intending, and almost always pitch perfect/crystal clear. Enjoying your reactions, liking and subbing for more.

I would suggest next would be Everdream for the next reaction, from the same live show I believe. Let your feet wet for Marco singing because I feel he's the best singer in the band, and he'll be missed.
I think a reactor once said that what made Nightwish different was the fact that the songs were composed by the guy in the keys instead of the usual vocalist or guitarist.
I first learned of Floor from listening to an early Ayreon album which led me to her band After Forever - when Tarja left Nightwish in 2005, I couldn't stop thinking that this lady was made for Nightwish and belonged with them - I read where Tuomas actually approached Floor, after 2005, to have her replace Tarja but, sadly, she was committed to After Forever, which eventually broke up in 2007, but by that time, nightwish had hired Anette - you can not believe my elation when the day came in late September 2012, when I heard the news that she was finally going to be sharing the stage with Nightwish - after Floor's burnout, I believe Nightwish saved Floor & maybe Floor also saved Nighwish - a match made in heaven or is it "Meadows of Heaven" LOL!

You can not go wrong with any song at the Wacken 2013 show. All epic in their own way. Then check out " The Greatest Show on Earth" at Tampere (my preference) and "The Poet and the Pendulum".
And at the 6:15 minute mark of this reaction Darin had his first “Floorgasm” the first is always the best .

I am 46 years old. Listen to every genre of music. You have only scratched the surface.
I can safely say there is not a single female vocalist alive today that can match Floor. Some come close but none can compare.
You are shocked now. You won't be able to handle "the pit and the pendulum" live in Wembley or "greatest show on earth" live from Wakken 2013.
Then you have to watch Floor perform on Beste Zangers.
