So why would you need to correct the AOE if all manufacturers of airsoft set the piston in the non 90 degree position when meshing with the selector gear when stock?
Yes, this will reduce the fps. I actually use a different buffer pad now, from a brand called ‘Air-Pad’. It’s a thinner polyurethane pad which doesn’t affect the fps much, gives a more consistent reset point between shots and is extremely durable.
