I can not tell you how many times I have watched this video. When I am down in the dumps or wake up on the wrong side of the bed, all I have to do is watch this video and I have had my therapy for the day. What could be better than sailing a Formosa anywhere. So nice to see a sail boat that does not look like a bleach bottle. The interior of some of these great boats with all the wood and multi levels is to die for. Then to top it off you used the Waterboy's Fisherman's Blues for music. It just doesn't get any better than that. Thank you so much for this video. The only thing wrong with it is it isn't longer.
You sir are truly living the dream. I would give anything to set sail into the sunset on a Formosa and never comeback. The thing about sailing is that 1. The turmoils of the world are left behind at the dock, and 2. Only happiness comes from sailing. You can spend months at sea sipping on a margarita and watching the sun bake while the world is falling apart. And the best part is, is that you wouldn't even know or care.
Magnifique Bateau et une superbe musique qui accompagne cette jolie vidéo, une sacrée construction de Yachts à l'époque avec du bois bien travaillé à l'intérieur, un bonheur à regarder...! Bravo !
She is still sailing somewhere down the west coast of Mexico. I am in a land yacht now but will always have fond memories of our time on Lady Midnight. Go sailing! It makes the best memories!
Have played this video 500 times. I am smitten. I love Formosa's and Naudicats. ( so taken with it I just now remembered to fav....and subscribe. You could NOT have picked better music for this. Formosa's have such fabulous interiors. The wood the carvings, the ports, the handrails in the companionways keep you reminded your on a sailboat and not a bleach bottle with a mast and a sail. Your video erases my doldrums anytime they sneak in. Simply The Best. Thanks for sharing this.
dunkwa You guys are really selling her? Man, I've been watching these videos for years. I was partially inspired by this and joined the Navy in the hopes of one day owning one myself. Thanks for the great videos guys,
CaptainRonRico Hi Capt. Ron, Yes we are still sailing Lady Midnight, just back from a nice couple of weeks in the Sea of Cortez. Thanks for watching the videos. I have a recent one I still need to upload, most likely the last as Lady Midnight is for sale now. Enjoy your time in the Navy.
@SFBayOceancruiser Hi Dale and Wendy. You will love the Mexican coast. We are at anchor off La Manzanilla, near Barra de Navidad. Most likely stay around here for some time then head back to California, probably San Diego for the summer. Did you buy the Moonshadow? Tim
The fastest we have sailed is 8.5 kts, She likes a lot of wind, Very comfortable with 20kts, but we start reducing sail at 25 to keep it under control. As to 'how much wind she could handle?'.....hopefully whatever Mother Nature could throw at us if I couldn't find somewhere to run an hide!!!!
We just bought a Hudson Force 50, very similar to your Formosa 51. We are fitting her out and building up the cruising kitty and hoping to head down to Mexico and beyond in a few years. What are your cruising plans in 2012?--- Dale and Wendy
Sailing Blue Steel Just a change really. We love the life and still do. And will most likely spend the Winter in the Sea of Cortez on Lady Midnight . See if she sells? Where are you?
dunkwa right now the boat is in SD I haven't taken her out, she's on a mooring, mind if I have your Email I'd like to ask some questions since your probably really familiar with these boats
dunkwa If you are still down there with her and she's in fair shape, I'd be interested. I'd be wanting to get her up to SF. I have a delivery crew on standby and I'm looking for the right Formosa/Hudson/Garden to restore/outfit/upgrade and call my home with my lady as we make our move up to Vancouver after a few years here in Sausalito. Maybe we can make a "best day" for each other.
Hello. I am from Argentina and I am with the idea of buying a sailboat similar to yours. I would like if I can pass your E-mail to be able to make some pregustas on its beautiful sailing ship. Thanks. Enzo Omar Vicente

@sona11111111
We still need to run the Generator every couple of days for an hour as the fridge and freezer use most of the power.
Bravo ! That's my plan, time to take off and fly ...
