We were there, this was back in 85' at Irvine Meadows in SoCal, WASP was opening for IRON MAIDEN, if ya look at the vid close, you can see the POWERSLAVE graphics off to the sides on the speaker cabs....Holy shit killer memories!!
Remember when WASP hit the stage and peeps from the lawn came over the wall and everyone started jumping over the seats?...Me and my buddy started jumping and ended up in like the 12th row
No way. Cliff Richard's was a massive force that you had to witness, it gave the band power that it never got back, you had to see it,this is a cut down version.
84 maybe 85, Reunion arena, Dallas Texas. My first concert, fourteen or fifteen years old, ticket cost $14.50 lower balcony near the stage. I didn’t know a thing about WASP at the time but man they blew me away. The main thing I remember about that show was this song and the three of them on their little boxes at the edge of the stage fucking hammering. It was , for me , one of those great rock n roll moments. I left a WASP fan for sure. Unfortunately I only got to see them two more times, it would have been three but the show was shut down due to overcrowding. This is the definitive line up for me, Randy and Blackie’s voices worked so well together.
Growing up on the west coast in the 70s and 80s i watched these guys on the LA circuit a few times. I think Blackie almost lit that poor drummer on fire more than once. These guys were underrated.
I just noticed this was at Irvine. Was this a show where you opened for Iron Maiden? If so, I was there, RIP Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. I saw so many great bands there.!
My parents lived in Lake Forest about 7 or 8 miles from Irvine Meadows. I swear the night of this show you could hear it from their backyard. That's louder than the 5 Freeway!
Randy Piper doing his best to cover up Holmse's drunken dip shittery at the end of the song and make it look intentional, all while hiding his embarrassment over Blackie's choice of socks. Man I would have loved to be there!
You won't see this kind of showmanship at a "Green Day" or "Turbonegro" gig. Actually, you won't see it anywhere these days. It's too bad, but that's how things go.
Johnny Rod was a great addition on bass. Great energy and showman. He still has that bright yellow Ironbird according to a somewhat recent pic of him that I saw where he was playing the same yellow bass.
Blackie pushed Randy Piper out of the band because he wanted to switch from bass to guitar also he did try out and did some work with Alice Cooper but he went with Kane Roberts instead
@@godwillguideme.3773 Randy wasn't straight up fired. Randy owned a recording studio and he felt he was neglecting his time there during his tour for WASP second album. He and Blackie made a agreement that he'd leave after the tour. Blackie wanted to play the guitar again so he was fine about the situation. Randy was one of the few that actually had a good relationship with Blackie. Randy was the lead guitarist for Circus Circus (pre WASP) and was the lead guitar for WASP back when Rick Fox played bass.
Hey don't get m3 wrong. I love wasp,Always have righ5 from 5h3 beginning..but that silly hop running/dance thing Blackie started doing after the second album.(end of show "goodnights"...Sorry just looks ,Ike he is trying g to be AL jolson..mammy mammy Blackie or Macky.. ugh..OK Steve.
Chris holmes is an absolute animal headbanger and gives everybody always a great show.thanks.
R.I.P. Steve Riley ❤

I was there too. Headbangin memories. Still have my ticket stub. 18 years old at the time 54 now. Lifetime ago.
Randy Piper, you always had the coolest looking guitars!
The BEST W.A.S.P. line-up of all time for me! CULT!!!! 1st album RULES!!!!
Carlos Montana yes i agree but the one with Tony Richards was Better and the Line up from 86-87 and 89 and 96-01 was Good too
Carlos Montana Liked Tony Richards way more than Steve Riley. Think Riley is a subpar drummer.
Gotta somehow squeeze Johnny Rod in there, he brought a lot to the table. Just his backing vocals alone..
@@mikeskillings5985 wHOOPS! i DUNNO HOW I MIXED THOSE 2 GUYS UP! i LIKE(D) sTEVE BUT YEAH, tONY WAS BAD ASS! D'OH! tHANKS GUYS!
All I know is, over the years everytime I started getting used to WASP lineup it changed.
THAT WAS REAL W.A.S.P.

WASP and Maiden on the same bill !!!!!! What about those Live after death era stage props ????????? THOSE WERE THE DAYS
Yeah! Same manager, Mr. Rod Smallwood
This had to be opening for Iron Maiden during Powerslave Tour no? (From the looks for the set decoration.
ok i am slow which one is you?
I am guessing the blonde
David Barber The blonde is Chris Holmes. Mr. Piper is the dark-haired gentleman to the right of Blackie Lawless.
They had the same manager rod smallwood.
This Lineup was The Best...a Bigband
СУПЕР!!!
Pretty sure they're opening for Iron Maiden on their Powerslave tour. Now that's a concert I wish I could have seen.
Blackie voice unbeatable as many metal grow no like him.thunder blasting

They overdubbed or played to a backing track in the chorus. Cool performance though

Yeah it's all sanitised and robotic now. No individuality. 80s rule for metal
All love to you..but check out a Green Day show. They are as real and Rock as you can get!

The blackie dance is almost as good as the Axl dance
wow i never knew that W.A.S.P. used the ALL SEEING EYE on there stage
Haha i belive they opened Up for iron maiden that Day so its not their backdrop
Much as I love this lineup, Johnny Rod is so much better on bass than Blackie, and he was a crazy man up there.

JR can sing as well, when he joined WASP they become an even better band.
they're open to IRON MAIDEN
Blackie should've stuck with his high heels. He's gone all twinkle-toes especially at the end.
Is there a single performance since they started that he didnt lip sync lol
why did randy piper leave the band??
Fired by BLACKIE...reasons still unknown....he fired Riley next.....then Chris....he fired the best band he ever had. Sad.
@@godwillguideme.3773 Steve Riley quit and joined LA guns
