      In my opinion it's a case of too little too late from a lot of newcomers. Years to get ready for this model and they can't hardly crack the 300 mile mark, can't charge past 150kw PEAK! Also, no innovative storage solutions in the form of a frunk? day to day it will go unused, but for a vacation? Hell yes! now you have to decide if you bring a stroller, or a wagon for the kids. Or if you bring golf clubs or your kids clothes!

      There was a stop order for the Blazer so these get no chassis either. The Ulltium Platform is a joke now matter what name is on them. Get an EV9 Kia with seven seats at 50 grand THIS year. If you lease then you get the tax incentives but not if you buy it. You can buy later if you want or walk away to something better 3 years later. Carplay and Android Auto on all and KIA / Hyundai said they will always keep it because owners want it

It's going to have high demand and the lowest trim will probably be $60K for 1/10 of them with minimal ADM. I expect most of them (9/10) to be past $60K as it's a bigger vehicle than the Model Y and would compete with the likes of the Highlander which easily pushes past $60K when loaded.

    It's funny, honda's best and most famous asset by far is their gas engine. Now they are using GM's powertrain for propulsion. So if a honda, isn't powered by honda anymore, is it still a honda? And also interested to know, will Honda dealerships advertise that the powertrain is from GM and not honda, or will they "kinda try to hide it." How would honda customers feel about that? One of the key reasons people buy a honda is for the reliability of the engine. Finally, I'm sure there's *some,* but I don't know if the majority of honda people feel that GM products are reliable or cross shop honda with GM (as opposed to say Toyota and to some extent Nissan).

    • @protovack
      @protovack 8 месяцев назад +2

      the average person will have no clue about any of that. they will walk onto a honda lot and buy one. these types of powertrain sharing agreements have been around forever, and no one ever notices or cares. the difference between your average honda crossover and GM crossover is virtually zero.

    • @davidmenasco5743

      The main factor in towing is the aero impact of the trailer. If it has a low profile, then it might reduce range by 25%. A big flat-front trailer will reduce range by more like 45%, based on the testing done by experienced EV reviewers.

      @@eeyorebill04Trust me, it was favored by tuners before the first F&F movie came out. The Prelude existed from '78-'01, IIRC. Anything Honda and 2-door has been sought after for such things for a long time. Other than the Prelude, it was the CRX, Del Sol, etc (the 2-door Civics of any variant, really). There are things like the S2000 but they were pretty niche. The tuner scene loves cheap cars that can be spooled out as fast as you can afford to make them.

      Buy a Kia, then. Or a Hyundai. Brand loyalty up to this point has largely been based on drivetrain reliability. Electric motors are nothing like ICEs, so there's no reason for brand loyalty until there are enough of these things to find out if anyone actually makes a demonstrably more reliable electric motor. I mean, why continue to be a loyal Honda customer, even if it had a Honda drivetrain? It's not like they have a proven track record of producing reliable electric motors for cars. For all you know, they could be complete turds when they do come out and get put to the test of time.

    • @davidmenasco5743
      @davidmenasco5743 8 месяцев назад +1

      That would be nice. Unfortunately the Japanese auto industry made a big mistake when they decided not to go electric.
      They had good reasons for this decision. But it turns out, there were much better reasons to go electric.
      They didn't want to be dependent on China for the battery materials (while the whole legacy auto industry was making excuses why EVs won't work, the Chinese were buying up the minerals and getting ready to DO IT). Now, the Japanese automakers are about to lose most of their customers to Chinese brands if they can't bring some good EVs to market RIGHT NOW.
      And of course it's not just the Chinese. The companies that lose the most customers to Tesla are Honda and Toyota.
      Five years from now, Japanese factories will be making a lot of very good EVs, with good quality, good reliability and good value. But I hope those companies can survive through the very difficult period between now and 5 years from now.

    Honda does not have any EVs it had to partner with Chevy so it is built on the Chevy EV platform which could be good or bad only time will tell since any new buyer will need to deal with new modal bugs. I do love the design and color so much better then the Toyota Smurf blue color. Also with 19 inch wheels you will pay less for tires 21 inch tires are so expensive. Also no front trunk is a big disappoint.
