OMG Gena- that was just terrific!! I picked up the right number and sequence of beads (7 times mind you LOL) and I got the 4 count of the white ones ok but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the increase/decrease in the colored beads until you explained it AND it makes perfect sense!! You are a wonderful person for doing this and I appreciate it so much! I’ve got a different color combo going and I will post a pic once I’ve completed it. I’ll also post a pic of the first PWAT (single seam) bracelet I did as well. I’ve watched some of your other tutorials as well especially on bead embroidery. I’ve only done two pieces so far and I love them and still I learned several new things from your tutorials! I think you are a great teacher!! And I’m sure I’m older than you - be 67 this August. And after doing this for just 2 years still consider myself a newbie/intermediant beader. So I push myself everyday to learn. The one stitch I’m really good at and I love to do is CRAW. So many creative possibilities. Thank you again Gena for doing this. I am forever grateful for you sharing your talents. Susie xoxo
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement! I'm so glad this tutorial helped you. I hope to retire in the near future and devote more time to making video tutorials so stay tuned! :)
Thank you so much Gena, I watched your two previous videos but I just could not get my strip to come out like yours and I couldn't even put my frustration into a coherent question. I was so happy to see this video. Thank you again for your time and patience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to show this! I just love your pattern and couldn't wrap my brain around it. Much love from California! Also, I love watching people bead, it's therapeutic. Xoxo
Hello Gena ,I am so happy to have found your videos. I love this pattern and I am so thankful that you went back to the beginning for us. That is where I needed the most help. Some people can just look at these patterns and figure it right out. I am not one of those gifted people. I also want to thank you for sharing the name and number on the bead mix. I probably could have just looked and seen what I could have come up with frommy own stash but I like buying them the way they come. I wish I could make the trip to Frankenmuth. I love the town and the Christmas store. I did not know they had a beading store. Can you order online from them. If so I hope you put the info on your video for us. Thanks again so much for this and I look forward to watching more of your work. 😊😍💖
Glad you enjoyed my video! Yes you can order from Bead Haven and they will ship. I recommend calling the store fir this as their website can be limited and doesn't always show this bead mix.
I love this one your great i am old wear glasses to. I am sure not easy hugging that pole. Lol. Not boring explaining. Well for those of us who are new. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Gena - thank you so much for this video - it really took some practice and a bunch of ripping out but I have it down now. Couple tips on this to sort of keep track of where you are in this process - make sure that at MOST each section - colored & white are ONLY 4 beads wide. It's easy to get lost in the pattern and suddenly realize 20 rows later that something just isn't right =) Keep an eye on growing wider rows - then you'll know there's an issue. Another thing - I did call Bead Haven to order those beautiful multi corlored beads you used --- they are totally out thanks to your video !! They do have a backorder in and will call for my order when they are in. Thank you again!
Hi Gena. I just saw this and I haven’t even watched it yet BUT I KNOW it’s going to be fantastic and I wanted to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for doing this...!!! I’m going to go watch this now. YOU are WONDERFUL...!!!😘
OH Gena, I guess I was not the only one texting you . lol. Yes it was the threads, how many times did I tried to start and restart? too too many times, even tried to do it with the 2 needles , but to no avail, until I texted you and you were so kind to help me. Well thank you so much.
Very nice I’m new to peyote stitch. I could not find your earlier video. Any help will be appreciated. Great design. Is it a ring, or start of a bracelet. I’ll keep looking for your videos 👍🏼
Watched your videos but was not sure how many rows to bead before doing zip join so i beaded 11 rows. Got the beading going and was doing a single seam join, wasn’t sure if that was right. When i got to the second mettalic bead as the piece got to that point no matter what color i put that mettalic row is ended.
Judith Botts: Please watch the 2 additional videos I have titled Peytwist #1 and #2. The zip connect method doesn't use the typical single seam method.
So basically the center beads are always four. We make the adjustments of the last four beads on the ends to bring out the pattern. Thank you 😊Sometimes eye balling it can be confusing, but keeping the count should be easier. Merry Christmas 🎄
Hello Gena, I ordered the multi colored beads and I am wondering what brand are the white you used ? The multi had the name of Matsuno. I could not find any other color in that name. Please help I love this design !😊😍
Diane Kuchta I do not have written instructions for this. If you are on Facebook and experienced with peyote, there is a group you can join called Peyote with a twist-not crochet. There are written patterns in the files section.
Gena Hopkins Do you know the name of the person who posted the written instructions in the Facebook group. I am in the group and there are free and pay patterns.. Any clue will be appreciated..
fabulous4 simpson yes! I recommend joining the Facebook group "Peyote with a twist not crochet" and look in the file section for instructions on how to do this.
Gena ... what size are the silver, they look smaller for some reason. Multi's are 11/0s, but what are the silver and the opaque white ones? Thank you! Great tutorials, btw.
Hello Gena, I come from Germany and have seen your video. Great work. Unfortunately we do not have a PF multi and Bead Haven does not ship to Germany either. Can you help me out there?
Gena... watching someone else bead CAN be boring, if you already know what to do. But when yer learning a new technique... like we're learning here... it's anything BUT boring. So don't apologize for that. If someone is watching a tutorial, it's to learn something new so it's probably not boring to ANYONE watching. :D And BTW... are ALL the beads the same size? It could be an optical illusion because of the drastic difference between the colors & the silver & white... but the colored beads look like they're BIGGER than the silver & white.
LINDA MURRAY the beads are "technically" all 11/0 but because they are produced by different manufacturers they are very different. The PF Multi are significantly larger, the white Toho are medium, and the metallic Precosia are smaller. I am typically a very tight weaver but by keeping my tension more moderate I was able to work up a nice piece even with the bead size variation.
Hello Gena, it is me being a pain in your side!☹😉 I have one last question. If I want to make a thinner tube ,do you make your starting beads longer before you connect them ? If you can help I really appreciate it. I pr not to bother you again. 😊
Sorry for the slow response. I have been away for a few weeks. To make a thinner tube you will start with fewer beads in your rows and make less rows. I'm not sure if that makes sense but try making the white section shorter by 2 beads. Hope that helps!
There is a chart available in the Facebook group peyote with a twist not crochet. The pattern is found in the files section and is called 2 color strip with line.
Gena, I went to Bead Haven to look for that cute mix, and searched, but got a "no results" for any type of mixes. Are you sure that was where you found them? And do you remember which hobby store you found the magnets? Please and thank you!

Thank you for providing these videos. I've tried to zip mine up using 11/o beads and the tube was too tight to zip. I couldn't get the sides to connect, no matter how tight I tried to pull them together. What am I doing wrong?

Your videos are great, love the idea of the zip start. I'd like to make a recommendations for people who have trouble starting peyote stitch. You might want to invest in the Quick Start cards from Deb Moffett-Hall. Although I've been doing peyote stitch for years, I will often use the card; it just makes things so much easier. Here's the link to her website: debmoffett-hall.com/collections/quick-start-peyote

I just LOVE the colors of this bracelet! Just took a Peyote With A Twist Class last Saturday...so fun!

Macayla Leyden glad you liked it! As for the therapy part, I have said for years that beading helps me stay on "this side of crazy" lol!

pf Multi beads are in & my order is OTW....according to the store these beads are "ON FIRE" =)
What size are the beads? Silver look smaller.
Just got notification my PFMulti's are on the way also! So excited!!

Bead Haven in Frankemuth Michigan I think

PF multi
What size beads are you using?
11/0 seed beads

what kind of neddle did you used or what brand can you please tell me
mcamposify I use John James. I like that they are flexible. I use sizes 11, 12 and 13 depending on what I am working on.
Seriously?
Non conosco l'inglese e per questo chiedo gentilmente che misura sono le perline che stai usando, cioè sono 11 oppure 8? Grazie

can you use any sz. of beads
Debbie NEAL I have used 15/0, 11/0, & 8/0.
Is this one an 11/0 for white and colored and 15/0 for the gold?
They are all 11/0. The metallic are Precosia and the other beads are Toho.
Quiero saber que número de mostasillas son

are you using size 11's seed beads?
Yes :)

Gena Hopkins yes I am
I've spent more than 5 hours redoing the entire thing and just can't get the two sides to come together.
Lady Linyan if you are using delicas that would be your problem. Delica beads are not suitable for Peytwist.
