They tried not to show such videos, where Arnold appears in an unfavorable light for him, since Arnold was always trying to dominate and morally suppress his competitors, but here he did not understand how to be...
All of the original footage was bought by Arnold and destroyed when he was running for governor. According to the people that shot it there was footage of him praising Hitler and nazi ideology so he made sure it never saw the light of day.
In all honesty, I had no idea that Arnold injured his shin and was bleeding prior to the comp. He did a good thing hiding it from Lou and Serge in 1975

Never seen this before, wow. Thanks for sharing! 👍❤ You should have Bill Grant on and ask him about this scene! Seems Bill is laying it on Arnold who took the flight without looking out for his buddies. I like how Bill turns the tables on him. Reminds me of the interview i saw of Jack Neary on John Hansen's channel, where he told a similar story (Arnold made sure he missed his flight). What i take from this is that Arnold was somewhat devious/sly wanting to sabotage anyone he deemed beneath him, competition or not. Arnold and his "tricks". 😂🤷♂
I've been bodybuilding since age 15 beginning in late 1971. The film "Pumping Iron" didn't premiere until 1977, so anything I knew about Schwarzenegger was from written sources, primarily Weider's and other muscle magazines, the 1974 book "Pumping Iron", as well as an October 14, 1974, "Sports Illustrated" magazine article about bodybuilding. Based on even those written sources, most of which cast him in favorable light, before ever seeing him "live" in the film "Pumping Iron", my initial impressions of him were of '"an asshole who'd cut his own mother's throat if it somehow served his ambitions". I've always appreciated his work capacity, his drive, his dedication, his focus; I appreciated his physique (although I considered Sergio Oliva's at his peak in the 1972 Mr. Olympia aesthetically better than Schwarzenegger's in 1972 or at his peak in 1974); but I always considered him exactly as you describe, IronWarrior, "devious/sly, wanting to sabotage anyone". As many of us men do after about age 60 (I'll be age 68 this June, lol) , probably for multiple reasons, his behavior in the past decade evidences he has seemed to mellow and become more considerate of others in his older age. However, he'll always remain a guy whom I'd never trust to hold the door open for me to escape a fire if he believed doing so might get himself singed.
Saw Bill post this on his page recently. Very cool clip 👏 These random behind the scenes of just them hanging n chatting in their element is always special to see 😎 Seems Arnold knew way before that this was gonna be his last show to compete in. And Franco. .man, even well dressed you can see he was such a unit 👌
Yeah, he already knew that he would be involved in organising the Olympia the year after...looks like Franco was probing, as he was probably thinking inside, this is my chance to be Mr Olympia
Yeah, but Ken Waller was nobody’s stooge. I don’t think he could get inside kens head like he did Lou’s. I also think Arnold was afraid of Mentzer, Mentzer had a genius mind. Ultimately that’s what brought him undone. He suffered because he knew a lot about the physical, the mind, consciousness and how it all fits together, he was on a different level, unfortunately Mike after loosing his partner and father and living with the frustration of not being understood and having people listen to his council took a big toll on his mental health, contributing to his substance abuse, it’s some consolation that there were some who did listen and as you know they made great gains. Vince Gironda was on a similar path, he understood the real essence of creating the perfect body, size and symmetry and the science that is required to achieve it,he also was not recognised for the knowledge and intellect he had, he was eccentric, and so was marginalised by the main stream, although some notables did follow his advice and were the better for it. Zane bridged the gap and probably came the closest to perfection offering great symmetry and a decent amount of bulk, he also was like minded to Mentzer in his approach to getting the best scientific training and diet, Zane also was an academic with a mind focused on consciousness and the physical understanding the importance of balance in life, Zane was able to cope with this better than Mike, Franks long term partner may have been the difference. The problem with bodybuilding from that era was the control the weiders had if you were not favoured by them you were really up against it. They wanted the wow factor, the freak show to build their empire on, the complete package, information, supplements, equipment, and the ultimate showcase was Arnold and his showmanship and bulk, the Weiders had a dream come true when Arnold showed up, the only threat was Sergio, the myth. He was something else. The interview with Rodger Walker is quite an eye opener, his opinion of the Austrian oak is not very flattering, the accusations are quite shocking, if they are true, then It paints a picture of Arnold few will ever see, and the truth will kept secret. .
