When my family and friends used to say it, I would say, "What about Him?" and they'd be like "what?" With genuine confusion.. I'd reply "Jesus" and often they'd say "Oh, God". A guy next to me at the gym missed his lift and yelled J F C, and without a moment of hesitation I looked at him dead serious and said “is our lord and savior!!!!” And he immediately said “yah… you’re right”. Most of the names that she mentioned aren't even considered as God anyway except "Allah" which literally means God but in arabic. I feel that using Jesus’s name in vein came from people hearing their parents call on His name when we’re in trouble, because that’s what we are taught to do. His name drives out any evil. People didn’t understand the significance of it and now just say His name in any occasion

Wow. I don't remember if it was in 2020 or in 2021 but I had a vivid rapture dream and at the time I was not a Christian yet and I couldn't even define the term rapture. It played a huge part in me gaining faith. Crazy thing is, I was going up in the dream..so I see it as a vision now. He showed me that I would be saved before I was.

As someone that doesn't beleive in Jesus. I've never once used this and also would find it weird if someone used it that doesn't beleive in Jesus. Precisely because you are acknowledging him. But, I find that people that use it only use it because it's a learned response. And when we say curse words usually is when we lose control so your brain just goes to the easiest thing, which is just simply the one you've heard the most. And that's basically what Christianity is, the thing we hear the most and therefore it must be true. That's the basic argument for 99% of Christians since I can guarantee none of them have ever tried to go to another religion. Just grew up in it and decided to follow the dogma. No, Jesus is actually a false God but he never explicitly claimed to be God, because a man can't be God, because God doesn't die, etcetera. And the reason why people commonly say Jesus when something is surprising (she left that cause out), or if it is in reaction to something negative, is because Jesus' name has been used that way by Christians themselves, or in heavily Christian countries. You will never go to Tibet and hear "JFC", or Saudi, or Tunisia, because they don't have the same morals or norms as Westerners. Jesus is the only way. There is no other way to heaven besides Him. Those other religions acknowledge Jesus just as a living person; not as the Living God. To not do do is the same as not acknowledging that Jesus really is the only way.

On judgment day you will not be judged according to the standard of this world, nor the standard that you make up for yourself, but rather, God's standard. (Sin is the transgression of the law). Here on earth, we have Jail/prison for people who break the law. God also has his own prison for people who break his law. You can avoid being found guilty on judgment day if you turn to Jesus. Think of him as the ultimate lawyer, he never loses his case, if you have Jesus as your lawyer, you will be declared not guilty. Make sure you never stand before a judge without a lawyer, because you can't use your "I'm a good person card* as a way to bribe a judge.

I just started this path, and I never realized how many times I would use his name in anger. Unfortunately I have a family member who claims they are Christian and says they love God, but also uses His name as a curse word. I’m not offended by any other curse word they use, but when His name is used as a curse word, it seriously offends me.
My family does that. They claim to be "catholic". You know,.. the easter and christmas type christians.. When they say things like that I just repeat it to them as a question with emphasis (jesus "eF'ing" christ??) but with a certain look. Sometimes they realize their hypocracy, and may feel a little guilt, but that doesn't last very long.

I think some people are also just mindless sheep, and a strong person can quickly lead them towards good, if you are willing to be bold and outspoken. But you have to be willing to be a strong “out” Christian, and not hide your faith in your daily life.

In 2020 i had a dream of a voice saying that "I am coming back soon". The voice had authority and comfort.
Wow. I don't remember if it was in 2020 or in 2021 but I had a vivid rapture dream and at the time I was not a Christian yet and I couldn't even define the term rapture. It played a huge part in me gaining faith. Crazy thing is, I was going up in the dream..so I see it as a vision now. He showed me that I would be saved before I was.

I had a dream in 2022 where I stand in front of church and many people wear a white tattered clothes. I also feel for some reason that I feel targeted. As someone that doesn't beleive in Jesus. I've never once used this and also would find it weird if someone used it that doesn't beleive in Jesus. Precisely because you are acknowledging him. But, I find that people that use it only use it because it's a learned response. And when we say curse words usually is when we lose control so your brain just goes to the easiest thing, which is just simply the one you've heard the most. And that's basically what Christianity is, the thing we hear the most and therefore it must be true. That's the basic argument for 99% of Christians since I can guarantee none of them have ever tried to go to another religion. Just grew up in it and decided to follow the dogma. It's surprising how this reminds me of the 3rd commandment, which says that a person will not be held guiltless for taking/using the Lord's name in vain.
I just started this path, and I never realized how many times I would use his name in anger. Plus, the bad words before or after and bad words in general, it honestly blew my mind how hard I've been struggling not to. It also blows my mind how hard it is to love everyone because my heart is somewhat hard when it comes to certain topics. When the Bible tells us to not say the Lords name in vain I always used to wonder how that translates perfectly into today’s use of the word.
The lords name is used in vain everytime a " christian " throws the stone of subjective comparison in order to subconsciously justify contempt and hatred.
I agree! I never saw the connection with " Thou shalt not take the name of the lord in vain" with cursing. I fully believe God was saying the people were claiming his name but they would not follow his ways. As far as using Jesus' name in a dishonoring way, he said that

I heard this man once say that when he heard people using Christ Name as a curse word he knew God was real and Christ was Lord, he became a Christian soon after.
If someone said that to you, that just shows how impressionable they were. Like a toddler who believes something after hearing it a lot, similar to how they believe Santa is real after hearing about him a lot

@moppppp8407 it was actually very logical to come to that conclusion. He said if Christ isn't Lord, then why do people use his name and only his name in such a profamed way? It's never Muhammad, Satan, Darwin, or any other "god" but only Christ. Why is the world set against someone they either don't accept or believe in. People only come to Christ when God draws them to him, and people can only get to the Father, through the SON. It was easy for him to come to that realization because God was already drawing him to the Son.

Jesus was using hyperbole like when He told us to hate our families or pluck out our eyes. He was making the point that all Fatherhood is sourced in God, the Father. If you want to take His words literally try these: John 6:53: “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you” or “Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, …1 Peter 3:21 RSV-CE. Stop believing in traditions of men (Luther, Calvin, etc.) and investigate what the Catholic Church actually teaches because you have been deceived.
