    Great video. Thanks for shedding light on the Waterfront - the Maritime Museum in Philly should talk about these facts.

    This story is fascinating. We as a country today owe those captured brutally treated humans in bondage our country’s wealth. The quakers like most Christians were hypocrites.

    The persecuted Irish Quakers preceeding the founding of Philadelphia by one year -- 1682 .

    Thank you for sharing this information. We need to preserve ALL of our history not just the pleasant parts. I completely support the removal of statues of Confederate traitors. Statues of other enslavers like some of the Founding Fathers are more difficult. How do we decide whose good acts balance out their bad acts? I think adding plaques that tell the other side of the story of figures like Washington and Jefferson is a good step. No one is perfect and many of our heroes have dark, even evil sides to them. The truth needs to be told not forgotten or covered up.

    Out west , I tell people" I'm from the worst part of Philadelphia."
    They always laugh and say,' where is that?'
    .. then I say
    " Camden!!! "
    My friends and I left when we're about 27 we knew that there had to be a better place .
    They're just had to be!

    Camden slogan should be :
    " Fear for your life, come to Camden!! "
    Small piles of tires in the street with hooks so they can hook onto your car with fences ??
    It's like the Serengeti.

    Very informative. I'm from the area, lived in and around Camden for my whole life. Unfortunately this is a little skewed, they keep saying "kidnapped" when it's been proven that most slaves where sold by the African Kings and tribe leaders. This video leads people to believe that Europeans went to Africa and kidnapped Africans which is false.

    • @PS-qn4oz
      @PS-qn4oz 5 лет назад +3

      I still consider it kidnapping, regardless of how money was transferred from kidnapper to kidnapper. It's not like they went willingly.

    • @smack9x
      @smack9x 4 года назад +4

      The point is the Africans didn't want to be slaves. Two wrongs don't make a right. How they were exchanged doesn't take away the fact that they were kidnapped.

    • @txzbelle75
      @txzbelle75 3 года назад +1

      Reading is fundamental. African participants never would have dreamt that their people would have been forced into chattel slavery. Furthermore, it doesn't matter how it happened. Fact is it was wrong and should have never happened and definitely should not have been as horrific or lasted as long is it did/has. ✊🏿

      @@txzbelle75 you're saying that those who sold their own people off, didn't think that those people would've been used as "property" from those who purchased them? It's disgusting, but it unfortunately happened all over, to all different people's, including my own as I've got some Irish and some Greek, the Irish were used as slaves in the US and the Greek were by the Turks/Ottoman Empire.... and hell, thanks to the previous US Administration, the Obama/Biden/Clinton Administration, slavery is back, alive and well in Syria.... and we all know it's going on in China with the Uighurs right now, and Biden is completely fine with it.... It's disgusting, and it all should be stopped.

      They don’t have No Africans or slave ship evidence because they kidnapped & traded the black American ppl already on the land…all the slave pictures in this are made up ..MLK & Malcom’s was saying it we here Plymouth landed on US (the U.S) & renamed/Jim crowed & put a black label in Black Americans own land ..the only non immigrants in America

    The strongest and healthiest slaves were brought to mainland america. A method of Eugenics and cross breeding the healthiest ensured the best quality slave. The lower quality went everywhere else. This is why black american athletes are the most athletic in the world. Its all genetics.
