jeez, 9 years later and i'm still watching
This is great stuff. Hell, you've even got me reconsidering what my favorite MM is.
I'd DIE of laughter is instead of saying "You Got Gemini Laser",it says "You Got Yourself" XD
I got me, babe. Doot doot, doot doot...
lol, that's what i said in a comment aswell.
1:36 Geminilaser gets... Geminilaser
I get it!
@@GeminiLaser you got yourself
@@GeminiLaser also does this mean you think the gemini laser is the best weapon at least in 3?
It's my favorite, but I don't think it's the best one. Shadow Blade probably gets that honor.
@@GeminiLaser K thanks for the reply
10/10 cliffhanger for the last video! *gives an oscar award*
I loved the fact that the Robot Masters from MM2 come back. It was the one thing that MM3 really had that no other one that I have played had.
I see now why you have named your RUclips account after Gemini Man's weapon. It's slow but fun. Sums up your channel pretty well :)
The Riddler designing MM3 makes a bit of sense actually. Weird weapons, strange platforming, and really hard robots... Fuel for thought.
Ha it's funny because i thought you had a very riddler sounding voice and then you go all riddler on me lol
I aim to please!
I've been watching your content for a long time, and I am really starting to understand more about what you've been saying regarding the quality of these games. MM4 was my absolute least favorite of the series, and MM3 was my favorite for the longest time. I always perceived the design choices of MM4 as gameplay flaws, but it's simply a subjective game. Just recently, I started playing MM4 again with a fresh mindset and I could not put it down. You make tremendous points about the special weapons constantly, and they have sort of opened my eyes to how important they are to fully enjoy the games. With that said, I personally think MM3 is the easiest to fully enjoy without the usage of special weapons. Maybe because the creators designed the game around the Plasma Blaster rather than the special weapons. (That does decrease the replay value though) In the end, I believe all 6 MM NES games are equally good, and I think it's cool that you're not afraid to state your gripes with MM3 even with all the praise it gets. I've had more than my fair share of critically acclaimed games that I couldn't stand to play. It's aggravating when something gets so much praise that it really influences the players. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much! I tend to believe that a lot of the enjoyment of Mega Man is rooted in expectations, influenced most by the player's perception of what a Mega Man game *should* be like. That's why so many of the people who grew up with MM2 and MM3 dismiss the rest of the series as inferior and derivative-MM2 and MM3 have a big novelty factor, so if you're expecting Mega Man to be a series based around novelty (which it isn't), you'll probably be disappointed before too long. For my part, special weapons are an integral part of the experience (and the only way I was able to beat my first few Mega Man games), so they hold a lot of weight for me when judging these games. Plus, I tend to get more critical of games that are universally acclaimed, because I want to make sure they truly live up to the hype. I agree, though; MM3 is easy to enjoy without using special weapons.
"geminilaser is limited in it's usefulness cause it's so slow"
hey, just like the real thing! (m e g a m a n 8)
Me: Always hoes to Gemini Man's stage first
GeminiLaser: Don't go to Gemini Man's stage first
*laughs in Gemini Laser*
I like gemini man's stage for that section and how easy it is to enable undead mode using the "rise from the grave with super jump glitch"
David Brailsford good commet
Thanks.
I just started playing MegaMan 1 on an emulator, but it's pretty hard. Any tips you can give me?
@GeminiLaser using mm1-3 weapons would make his job way easier, just imagine it - Metal-Doc defeated by the Metalblade.
When you say your favorite utility, are you counting the S. Adaptor from MegaMan 7?
I love the flight capabilities and homing attack :)
I imagine Doc Robot fitting better in Mega Man 4.
From a plot standpoint, Doc Robot makes sense in MM3, but I agree that it might be better not to rehash the last game so quickly.
wait, plot? how are the doc robots even relevant to the plot, anyway?
Sir Keaton canonical sequel?
I have no idea
Kind of like the Darkmen. Unexpected, take form of other Robot Masters and sent by Wily (who is thought to not be evil until after the final stage)
You can't save Megaman's bacon! He's made of Metal! XD
You've made me reconsider MM3. It was my favorite, but I'm not sure because you make some good points.
Well the robot masters are defeated, and I can bring all the parts back to..... build.......GammaaaaaAAAA????
Me: Nope
If you'd like to see an instance of rush marine done amazingly, I'd recommend the fangame "Megaman revenge of the fallen".
In it, Rush marine can move in any direction under water, with the jumping ability. This is brilliant since rush jet cannot be used underwater, meaning rush marine is used more reliably than in Megaman 3
I've played it! But maybe you've seen that stream. I don't recall whether I got to use Rush Marine, but it makes much more sense to me that Rush Jet can't be used underwater.
doug-the-mug good commet.
When I first saw Doc Robot's mugshot, it scared me.
It is pretty creepy. The official Doc Robot art is pretty creepy, too; the in-game sprite doesn't do it justice.
It very much amuses me that in the rematch with Wood Man the leaves falling down are a liiittle bit more to the right, so one of the most difficult things about him has been removed. Then again, I guess they balanced that out by making his shield bigger.
davistoa good commet
on the woodman copy boss, I used search snake against him. But the needle shot seemed really effective too. Is he just woodman weak, or are those weapons just better against him?
Magnet Missile is perfect in this game, but the Wily Wars version is next to useless. Yet, Top Spin practically replaces it. Odd.
Funny how things get completely changed around in a remake.
***** I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on the changes when you get round to doing the Wily Wars.
It'll probably be a long time, but I can give you a sneak peek in the meantime:
nathanielhoover.weebly.com/mega-man-remakes.html
***** Haha, Yeah I'm sure it will. Good things come to those who wait, though.
Ooh, thanks, I'll check that out! :-)
@GeminiLaser Now I have another question: Am I the only one to ask that? I never think of stuff like that without someone else thinking it first. Is it a sign of the apocalypse?!
@GeminiLaser: So it's the same as a hitbox?
@GeminiLaser Yeah, even I never had troubles with him actually - but if his weakness would be still the metal-blade, then ... wow, he didnt even had a chance to attack.
Thanks for the tips.
Well, I'm on Gutsman's stage and I haven't even reached the boss. It's the damn hard hats. Well, those and the dropping platforms.
Maybe it's so hard because of the way I setup the controls, but I'll try the advice you gave me.
Hard Knuckle is actually kinda amusing, just watching your fist suddenly turn into a rocket and land a K.O. in the enemy's face :D
@GeminiLaser Have you read the book, or any other of Michael Critchton's books? (Did I spell his name right?)
Why are there spikes on the ceiling for the second half of Shadowman revisited? They can't kill you up there!
An item you start with called "Rush coil", can let you BOUNCE up high. That can get you to the spikes.
Probably an easy way to demonstrate that the stage is different and more dangerous this time around.
i really like gemini man's stage
IT WAS TRICKY ON THE LAST HALF PART
Depending on your approach, the last half can definitely be tricky.
DID YOU KNOW:
Notice the lack of new tiles in Shadow Man's stage? Appearantly, originall his and Magnet Man's portraits were switched and the doc robots would be there. There's tiles for a "ruined" Magnet Man stage in the files, with the little wires broken, electricity pulsing through platforms, and crashed floating platforms.
True story.
I think the Gemini laser mechanics are fun (except the slowness). If only you could use more at a time or change weapon while its out.
You should try out the fangame Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest. GeminiLaser is one of the weapons, and it's a little easier to use.
The GB version of Gemini man is more awesome because of the fractals in the stage (WHICH I MORE LIKE IT) and it moves too.
Yeah, the GB version of his stage is pretty neat.
@1:37 you got the best weapon! YOURSELF!
5:28
You know, I always wondered what would happen if the Bikky, or Bouncer, here dropped down to the next screen at the same time as Mega Man. Might try it one day.
It'd be interesting if enemies could follow you like that, but I think this one would just disappear like the rest, assuming you could get it to fall down the hole in the first place.
If you don't mind, How did you and Z-Saber meet? I'd love to know.
and, FUNNY! snake man's weakness is practically 2 weapons. hard knuckle or GEMINI LASER!!!!
that was just no. just no. terrible yet fitting pun XD
Emmett Cleere good. horrible puns are my speciality.
And needle cannon
you DO realize it's his channel right? he can comment as much as he wants to
Gemini Man's stage always stood out to me because it's one of the longer stages of the classic Megaman series, or at least the 8-bit ones, I'd be curious to know which is the longest Robot Master stage out there.
Without counting the exact number of screens, I'd say it's one of the stages in MM8. Most Robot Master stages are about 15-25 screens long, with the stages tending toward the higher end as the series progresses. MM8's Robot Master stages are easily double that length, and Mega Man & Bass's stages are fairly long as well.
I felt like the megaman 7 stages were abnormally long. Could be mistaken though!
MM7's stages are long, to be sure, but Mega Man also doesn't move as quickly through them. Sort of a double whammy.
I always go gemini man first because , well lets just say practice pays off (8 hour practice)
That's a rough one to start with, but more power to you if you can pull it off!
Geminilaser got gemini laser
I think Magnet Bomb is the most useful move. It will always go to the opponent and rarely misses. Too bad you can't fire too much.
That would make sense in modern times, but back in 1989, we didn't have the communication that we enjoy now. And since I would say that most of the mega man players back then were teens and younger, I'm not so sure how many opinions on MM2's overpowered weapons would have actually made it to Capcom.
who is your favorite robot master
Who had the time to remodel Spark Man's stage in 20 minutes? Must have been an army of nanobots.
it's doable but very annoying jumps. plus the buggies and missiles are irritating to avoid. so yes. you give great advice. :)
Looking back on this, I love how Metal Man/Doc Robot's Metal Blades are a kind of rusty bronze. Kinda looks like there was good amount of time between 2 and 3. I guess. I'm not sure how quick metal can rust.
5:51 Did you say "ow" to perhaps hint that you shouldn't have gotten hit there (because of the large hitboxes)? Maybe so?... ;)
Tomahawk Man's theme felt pretty custom for that stage, so did Pharaoh Man's, but ok.
2:04, megaman performs eye surgery on the fly.
I like the fact that MM3 doesn't give a copout by using special weapons. It might be dull in the long run, but you really need to be good in this game which isn't the deal with most games in the series.
Special weapons are a cornerstone of the series; the whole idea is to defeat bosses to become stronger than before. That's like saying Heart Containers in Zelda or better swords in Final Fantasy are cop-outs; if the game is designed well, the player enjoys the advantages of their upgraded abilities while the challenge continues to scale with them. Mastering the special weapons and figuring out which situations call for them is part of the challenge as well; if you think you don't need to be good at the other games in the series because of the weapons, you're either extremely talented with them, or else you're only playing the easy ones.
idk how i was able to jump over doc robot's leafs easily in my play
The alternate reality of Virtural console + Gamecube controller. :3
1:40 YOUR RUclips NAME IS BORN
@GeminiLaser It was supposed to involve a lot of tricky timing sections with electricity pulsating from the floor with flying enemies overhead, some disappearing block sections, "fake" floating platforms that are sputtering (that fall and crash if something goes on them).
The reason it was switched at last minute to Shadow Man? Wood Man and Fire Man didn't make sense as bosses there.
Shame.
So Nathaniel... You named your RUclips account after your favourite weapon?
OK, thanks for the info.
The doc robot stages would be better in my opinion if the stages were completely different.
Agreed! Well, maybe not COMPLETELY different-I think Needle Man's Doc Robot stage is the right balance between familiar and different.
You should really frame the screen that says "You Got Gemini Laser".
Gemini Laser. Fun to use, unreliable because it's so slow. Kinda like Geminilaser!
(I jest, I jest)
But so true! Maybe you've seen my "An Introduction to GeminiLaser" video. ;)
should have called it ''a buster shot a day keeps the doc robot away''
Gemini Laser is your favorite weapon? Really? I would have never guessed!
I'm unpredictable like that.
You get +GeminiLaser!
Item 4: Get your weapons ready!
Item 4 tosses a SUBSCRIBE platform that only works if you have subscribed to GeminiLaser.
+Light Force That'll teach people to unsubscribe from me while using Item 4. ;p
You're implying that 4, 5, and 6 have bad music? I object.
@GeminiLaser I never noticed that, it's bugs bunnybot
While you can always analyze the games I find that usually what makes people prefer one game over another is more often what order they played them in, then the design arguments become rationalizations of that bias. I mean you could find as many design issues with any mm game, personally MM3 is my favorite of all time and it was the first one I played. Incidentally almost everyone I know prefer the earlier games that they actually played.
I guess that is why your RUclips name is Gemini Laser
One of the reasons, anyhow.
I've heard that MM3 is unfinished and it was rushed to meet consumer demand
heheh, "rushed"
My most hated thing about this game is that the megaman 2 bosses come back. I wouldn't mind this so much if they weren't HARDER TO KILL!
What's a bounding box?
never thought a magnet might help
...magnet might.......... magnemite's in this game
Fun fact: The Japanese name for "Doc Robot" is "Dokurrobotto" or "dokurro robotto" or "skull robot". See. Skull Robot. And you know how he copies the dead? Okay...

Rokkuman 3: Rasshujetto wa toriosae sa re?
Dan Hoang good commet
Wait a minute...
You said that there's no time for questions when you entered Re-made spark man's stage... and then you asked a question!
@GeminiLaser hah! I'm in middle school, and I'm reading Time Line!
You got the channel name
Megaman 3; Don't go to any stage first. (lol)
3:12 no, thats megaman 10's wily archive story.
you're criticizing him on commenting a lot so yes you did
Subtle big chungus reference
So wait sparkman, snakeman, topman, shadowman, needleman, and geminiman are bad places to start? No offence but it kinda sounds like there's no good place to start
My point exactly!
@7:35 instant pit of death, just add water
Heh. Precisely.
I'm gonna ask now before I forget:
Is there a special reason that your username is "GeminiLaser" even though you don't like MegaMan 3 as much as the others?
Gemini man neither? Who DO you fight first then?
is that why ur names geminilaser cause u like it
you got......yourself! :D
Gemini mans wepon is the same name as your channel name
Gemini laser because your name of channel
See's title. I'm Hunting Wobots!
it might be better if you were, simple observation wasn't essential as anyone would've come to the same conclusion
poking fun was also unessential friendly or not
I had too many hurtful and rude poking fun to tolerate it now
right now I've got that out the way NOW I'll move along
you got ur name
I beat him 1st using your 0 hp trick to beat Gemini man with rush coil.
I think I may have an answer to why Megaman 3's special weapons act the way they do. I think that the reason that Megaman 3 had so many weapons so similar and underpowered is that too many people complained that the weapons in Megaman 2, most specifically Metal Blade were too overpowered and it made the game less challenging and fun. Simple overreaction to something that wasn't even a problem
Doc robots are made by dr wily
You know, maybe one of the reasons everyone likes Mega Man 3 is because they don't use the special weapons. If you rely on special weapons in the Mega Man games, this one would be a disappointment, but if you didn't use special weapons in Mega Man 1 and 2, then you wouldn't use them in this one.
I think that's a big factor.
I don't get WHY you wouldn't use the special weapons though. I thought that was kind of the whole point of Mega Man.
i like the weapons actually in MM3, top spin is fun, but i never use it on bosses cuz its just bugged in that way, but it 1shots like 60% of the enemies in the game! (mostly best use vs the apes, the *frogs?* things, and the mosqito things),,, the hard knuckle is ok, just abit to slow, the needle just works the same as MM buster,,, the only weapon in MM3 that sux is spark shock!
umm gemini man vs posion mushroom umm which clones are more powerful i bet its gemeni man that mushroom does the same every time he has only 2 attacks and umm if he gets sparked he jumps at the opposite side -_-
I alway go Geminimans stage first I think (next to topman's stare) it the easist stage and And easy boss
5:04
RiddlerMan?!?!?!!?
