This video too, is art! Thanks Scare, you did a great job of communicating the magic and the joy that goes into making videogames and the art that surrounds them. I will make a point of watching the credits to the next game I finish (It might even be KOF 2001 if I play my cards right). Writing this 5 mins after midnight on Christmas eve so this video officially counts as a Christmas present to me lol As a certified Squishboy (love the art 2SG) here are some video game moments that made me: That moment during the final boss of Mother 2/Earthbound where the game recognises how much you care about it. The opera scene in Fantasy 6 where you the player had to recite the lines and recreate the song. The true ending of Dragon Quest VIII So much of Void Stranger. Shingo earning Kyo's glove in KOF 97. Sakura getting a photo of Ryu in Alpha 2. When Ryo's friends come to visit him in Shenmue. I can fully appreciate and see the work that went into this video and that montage at the end was EXTREMELY moving. You have yet again created one of my favourite videos!
Art matters. Art in every form, shape and expression that it takes. I know it, you know it and we all feel it but I’ve never truly taken the time to appreciate what that means. Thank you Scare. You’ve given the feelings in our heart and soul a voice that we can listen to so that we never forget that honest truth, the art in video games matters. Stay beautiful my friend ❤
Hey Scare, Snooby Here! Wanted to point out that Narrative and Writing is an art as well and can often be the other thing that brings all those individuals parts together into a beautiful tapestry of experience. I've always dreamt of being in the game industry, and making games that I truly enjoyed making and came from my heart and soul, and this video was a nice reminder that there are still people out there that appreciate the love and passion that goes into a game, beyond all the grandstanding big corporations and publishers behind game releases participate in. I still remember a moment in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 when Xion laid in Roxas's arms, dying after forcing him to strike her down so the memories she had been hoarding from Sora could return to him, and as the music swelled and I listened to Xion sadly bid farewell to her friend, I found myself nearly sobbing on the school bus alongside Roxas, who cried over the loss of his friend. Roxas, a being who supposedly had no heart, no emotions, and could never truly feel the things that make us human, was truly crying and grieving the loss of a friend. I remember the moment in God of War Ragnarok as Kratos bonded with his son in Helheim, and admitted how proud of his son he was, and how he realized he was the one who was not ready for Atreus to grow up and leave him to begin living his life as his own man. I remember the feeling of pride and love a father had for his child punching me in the gut, as I thought to my own complicated relationship with my father, and how I wished for us to reconcile and find peace in our relationship the way Kratos and Atreus did. These moments stay with us forever, whether they help us heal from our own hurts, help us begin to allow ourselves to feel things we had long forgotten how to feel, or otherwise. The ones who make these moments that stay with us forever are so easily erased and forgotten by forces and groups so much bigger than us, and as a consumer, it can be so easy to just go along with it. Thank you for seeing us.
To be fair, the ratio of zombies that could be killed to zombies that existed in Resident Evil actually does stick out to the player because it's integral to the resource management aspect of the game.
Graphics matter insofar as they can facilitate the creative vision for a game. They don't matter for their own sake, but better graphics and performance can make new ideas or artistic directions viable. BotW wouldn't have been possible on the GameCube, and RDR2 couldn't have been realized on the PS3.
100% correct. I updated the title to reflect that. My verbiage says that as well, but some of the backing text behind me doesn't. I chose that for effect (Matter vs Matters pops more, imo) and thought to mirror that verbiage for the video title. But clearly we have some grammar sleuths in our midst, so that doesn't fly either. Appreciate you. Have a lovely day and thanks for watching my video.

So much of Void Stranger.

You stay beautiful, my dear friend.
Surprised this doesn't have more views. Great editing!
YT just recommended this video and I have only one question: have you got tired of people calling you Nicepool yet?
No, I am not. I'll tell you why:
Because you are the first person to tell me that! I'll take it as a compliment. :D
Just clicked on this from my recs today and so glad I did. Great and entertaining breakdown of all of the elements of games that make us love them.
I'm glad you did, too!
Thanks for your kind reply and watching the video, friend!
I hope to see you around soon. ;)

Merry Chrysler Eve, thanks for sharing such a good piece to make people think about who actually contributes into the product.
You a real one. Great video!

I agree. It sticks out so much to me as well.
Good stuff Mr Quotes
Great topic and presentation. You actually credit songs when they play? That's allowed? Do others know? subbed.
I know, do they???? Don't tell them, okay? I wouldn't want to get reported to the YT POLICE. ;)

This guy is the Ryan Reynolds of video games lol
You are now the second person to say that.
@@BHDHScareQuotes you should mae that your thing!
salute.
I think it should be "matters" instead of "matter" in the title
That's right! "The art (in video games) matters". The art is what matters.
