    Mike Malaska explains the golf swing better than anyone. The fact that Eric did not have to add any other comment says it all. Thanks Mike for allowing this information on RUclips for free. I have learned more from your videos than any lesson I have paid for. Thank you from all of the amateurs out here waiting for this pandemic to pass.

    You and mike have changed my golfing life. I never knew how to correctly pivot. I’m a 12 hddcp and shoot low to mid 80s and I’ve posted a 75,77 and 78 in my last 3 rounds since seeing this video.
    You taught me how to pivot. On camera I look like I’m firing those hips the way I always tried to but could never do !
    The linear forces of hip socket back wards for back swing and down swing and timing it at impact have given me 1 amazing reliable swing thought .”left hip socket back at impact.”
    A swing feel more than a thought.
    What we see on camera and tv with the pros are “symptoms” of a good golf swing , and we all try and mimic that and fail , you and mike just taught us the invisible linear forces to “get those symptoms to show “ hips turn, club shallows , lag . All because of a simple linear motion.
    Feel truly isn’t real. God bless the both of you. This is golf instructional gold. And for free. Better than any DVD , book or lesson I’ve ever paid for . Wow

    Absolutely brilliant explanation and demonstration of hip / pelvis rotation, probably the best I’ve ever heard! Mike demonstrates here the very pinnacle of all teaching, and that is an ability to explain something that is (or can be) complex in much simpler terms. This requires a lot of knowledge, altruism and humility. Fantastically well done Eric and Mike.

    This video kept me from quitting golf! I was setting my right hip and not rotating my right hip backward causing me to extend up, which lead me to flip my wrist at impact. Explaining how and why my right side hip (pocket) goes backward (since I am left-handed), and doing the drill with the stick as my feel goes hand in hand with the video that shows the cable drill pulling both ways of the swing was magic. Thanks, Guys

    What a great lesson guys. I'll add that I've been working on this for a year...at least. It is not easy, and because of the situation now we can't even hit balls, but it's part of what makes a low handicap golfer so good. That part where the club is coming from the inside, yet magically the hands suddenly moves left after impact--with the club just releasing. That pressure goes into the left heel, and mine goes to the left toe 4/5 times; especially on the course under pressure. That hip movement lesson is precious. Thank you... Lots to work on, TU!

Moving the left hip back while swinging through the shot is the key move for my ball striking. Great video! The main thing that this video validates in my mind is that the hips are being pushed around and back BY THE LEGS. Up until a couple months ago, I was always just spinning my hips around and not using the ground to push off of and not using my legs to push my hips. Finally I realized that this is how to use the ground to push the hips around which results in more force being driven into the ball.I can see the difference in force by looking at my launch monitor too. When I took a lesson with you, Eric, last summer, I didn't use the ground to turn my hips and I was moving my pelvis toward the ball and early extending. Using the ground and the legs to move the left hip back and behind me has now resulted mitigating my early extension flaw.

    • @christophb.6297
      @christophb.6297 4 года назад +3

      To do that, its essentiell to stay down at the begining of the downswing. The left hip must turn around first before extension happens, otherwise your hips thrusting forward.

    Eric....glad you hooked up with Mike M.
    Now Milo gave a great description of the hips....that seems so logical and easy to remember.
    The trail hip goes deep in the backswing, then the lead hip RESQUARES off the depth of that trail hip.
    In other words, that trail hip keeps its depth, the lead hip joins that depth.
    Mike M describes that move as …"think of pushing that trail hip back at the beginning of the downswing."
    These are not mutually exclusive...they actually blend in conceptual nature.

    This is a really good video. One nit is that there is obviously a weight shift in the golf swing (where is most of his weight when he finishes his swing?) but if Mike wants to refer to it as a force transfer and he thinks that gets the feeling more easily understood, cool. Regardless, his explanation of how the left hip pulls away from the ball rather than the right hip pushing it back is something I'm trying on the range tomorrow.

    This was an excellent video for me because it reaffirmed that I was on the right track with my hip action. Your reference to a previous video that talked about using the pant leg seam was a real game changer though. I'd seen this video before and this thought has become an important part of my game. In this previous video you said that the move with the seam and impact had to be simultaneous. Guess that I missed that the first time around. This simple thought helped my timing so much with every club , that it was kind of scary, how much better every shot was.

    Great video. At the 8:55 mark, Mike states that all the weight is on the front foot. I am assuming in the backswing the weight goes to the back-foot. Hopefully I am correct on that assumption. What about how many pros tend to “sit” on the downswing. Is that still part of it? Thanks again.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  4 года назад +1

      That is correct, Tom!
      It starts even.
      It goes back to the right during the backswing(the pressure not the mass so much)
      then it goes back left toward target before the end of backswing (the pressure not the mass so much)
      Players who squat more to the same exact thing....just too varying degrees.
      Ever player Ive ever seen follows that pattern. Hope that helps!

    I really like this video because I was struggling with weight transfer. The problem I ended up finding had nothing to do with the transfer at all, but had everything to do with my starting point. I was told too many times that I early extended so I tried putting all my weight in my heels then leaned back like Matt Kutcher to prevent the early extension. This was not a fix anyone should try because you will hit off the toe 80% of the time.

    Mike and Eric, I've followed both of you for quite a while now. I've always worked on the left foot pressure to open hips with mixed results, more that the feelings were sometimes more difficult to feel than others. My question to you both is, do you think attempting to get more weight to the left side early during the backswing, as some have said Ben Hogan did after his accident, and eliminate the timing issue of transition, could help to feel that left side loading a little easier and make pushing off the left foot a little easier to feel since you'd be very focused on that left foot during the backswing e.g. to get the weight over there. Pushing off the left foot then as you move your elbow and right shoulder (side bend) back to the ball seems quite easy. What do you think? I know if people have an issue with a reverse weight shift, this could hurt them. I'm talking about a seasoned player who never has had an issue with shifting weight other than good timing sometimes. Thank you.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  4 года назад +1

      Hey Rick!
      I would say "yes" as a general answer to that without seeing the swing. I do not think its perfectly universal but as a general.

    • @rickstevens9628
      @rickstevens9628 4 года назад

      @@CogornoGolf Watching this video again and you saying it felt really good to feel the left hip opening as you're approaching impact i.e. at the same time. I noticed you also handle right side bend with the elbow and right shoulder moving under and down and out. My only comment is that I heard a wonderful image the other day that I wanted to share with you especially after your comments to Mike Malaska about your feels. I heard imagine a diagonal line running from the tip of your left hip to the tip of your right shoulder through impact. I thought this image, maybe not for everyone(lol), but it solidifies what you were saying about your feels. I think that image also supports body squaring of the club face and the right side bend. I'm always looking for ways to simplify how to get my body to do things it should, but automatically, from one thought, for example. Thanks for your instruction, Eric. I think you're spot on.

      It is....if it creates the lead side motion you are looking for. If not you may have to feel lead side as well.
