- An exam scandal is rocking India following last month's highly competitive National Eligibility Cum Entrance test - a gateway for admissions to undergraduate medical programmes. Multiple tests have been cancelled or postponed since then. More than 3.5 million people have been affected, with the government admitting to institutional failure and firing the official in charge of the testing agency. Prerna Singh, Mahatma Gandhi Associate Professor of Political Science and International Studies at Brown University, tells CNA’s Asia First how serious the situation is and why an anti-cheating law that was recently passed has not been effective.

This is nothing new. Some years back I was part of a team organising a medical conference in Maharashtra. Many of the papers fell well short of what would be expected from a properly qualified doctor. In particular, one 24 year old from a wealthy family submitted a CV that claimed multiple undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. One of the team was an experienced HR professional who agreed that it was physically impossible for this to be legitimate - particularly as the paper submitted was barely literate. We were all left with the impression that the medical qualification system in India was profoundly corrupt.
There was a case that one managed to get into Sg medical institute, and eventually got himself booted out from the US side, somehow more than a deepfake and an Sg oversight. 😅
Sg has to be meticulous to ensure doctors from India have valid qualifications to work here. Medical work is about life and death. It is not a trivial matter.
China's Gaokao is carried out with extreme security and seriousness (e.g. police stop traffic, construction workers stop working to not emit noise...). People around the world joke about that, but let's look at India's situation.
The question paper was sold previous night for 6 lakhs
This kind of fraud reminds me of the major China Evergrande scandal that caused substantial financial damage.
We still can let India doctors in just don't let them do critical procedures like heart surgery. Maybe circumcision or colonoscopy.
There is nothing wrong at all. This is capitalism and democracy working as expected. Anyone who can pay more will get extra services, so what's wrong with that ?
What happened to copy but change it a bit😂
Well..... Thousands of them are in Singapore nowadays 😂😂
Is it true that there thousands of Indian medical doctors in SG today?
@@jer2911.L Not sure. But I see a lot of Indian queuing for MC
