(Originally born in WV) I worked at the hospital in Roanoke, and 6 years ago moved to Missouri from Franklin County, VA. We've been in the 80's today in Tennessee, it's supposed to be 87 tomorrow but a cold front comes in tomorrow and we'll be in the 60's and 30's at night Monday through Thursday. Chili sure would be good one of those days!! Have a great week ahead!!!

Hi Valerie! Your chili looks delicious! I have always used tomatoes and tomato sauce in my chili instead of corn and beef stock. I'm 70 and started using my moms recipe as soon as I was old enough to help her cook for our family. I'm going to try your recipe very soon!

I put my chili in the crockpot in the am & it cooks all day long. I agree with you the longer it cooks the better it tastes. I use the same cornbread mix as you. It's just the best. Stay healthy!

Hi Valerie! I’m from Northern New Mexico & wanted to share with you that I’ve ordered stuff on Amazon and it has come damaged too. I usually write a review on the website and add photos of the damages. On several occasions they’ve sent me a whole new item and let me keep the damaged one as well. It is worth a shot! Valerie, I was just thinking back to the small kitchen you had in the rental single wide before you moved here🤔 You did a lot of great cooking there to. With all the room you have in this kitchen and better appliances you must be loving it. I am truly excited for your kitchen renovation here because you cook so much and deserve a great kitchen. Bet the chilli was lovely, I made one last week and served it with cheesy flat bread, it was very tasty. Tim does always pop up to help when you need him doesn’t he. My husband is just the same.

Looks great Val thanks for sharing i was thinking about chili beans to but it hasn't got to the chill weather here in my area yet it's still Sunny in California just a little breeze but i will be making my warm comfort meals soon chicken noddles and chili beef stew yummy.

I love chili too....i make mine from scratch too . I make macaroni or spaghetti and add it to my chili bowl after I fix my chili , I keep mac separate from chili ......so good. My Mama fixed it for my brother and I growing up . We had fried ho cakes or cornbread or crackers. Yummy 😋

Hey Valerie, I do my chili in a slow cooker, this way it's not on the stove so no burning, I brown my beef and onions, I open all the beans, add crushed can tomatoes, alittle splenda to cut the acidic, throw the cooked hamburger and onions I've seasoned, oh and chili seasoning mix..put on low and cook it most if day..probably 5-6 hrs....gwen

The chili and corn bread looked yummy. It didn't look likeTim had any corn bread. Is he not a corn bread lover? I love corn bread with honey butter. Chili always looks so delicious but I hate beans so I rarely make it. I am trying to add beans to my diet because I know they are good for you. Just never liked the texture, especially with kidney beans. Thanks for sharing.

I have never seen corn added to chili but it looks good. I'll have to try that the next time I make chili. That cornbread looked delicious too! Too bad about your new table. If I were to hazard a guess I would say that this table was made in China!

Wrong Oh! There are plenty of "old fashioned " women still around. I am one of them and I am also an International Flight Attendant for the world's largest airline. I work First Class only. But, at home I cook and clean just like Valerie. My husband can't cook a lick but he is a Captain for the world's largest airline. However, he is a fantastic provider and carpenter. We are a great team. Just like the couple in this video. And, if he had to, my husband would scrape together a healthy meal should I not be there to do so. You are correct, though, in saying that most youngsters today are lacking such skills.
I agree, except I say all kids need to know how to take care of themself before they launch. Tim and Valerie are a good match, but I bet Tim could take care of himself if she had to travel somewhere. They both seem to be very capable. My daughter is a high school teacher and tells me it’s really surprising how many kids, both genders, don’t know the basics.
