how you clean a river ? any ideas . cause you would have to start 5 to 10 miles away from the city to do something about it. and its a very long process. not only you would need to create seperate waterways and flows but the very soil and sediments need different sea life. if you gonna shit in the river over couple century than its really not gonna clean itself up. .
You need to understand what the media doesn't report! There is a lot of trash and dumping,... into the river. This is technically against the law, but no one enforces the law. Trash collection is not the same in Paris,....bad pickup and collection,...so many dump into the river,...there are actually places for the residents to do this. And it is insane to believe the politicians that he river will suddenly clean up by itself over night. This is why the stunt to swim in the river is so insulting to the locals. The locals are banned from swimming in the river, not that anyone would!!!! But the swimming in the river ban, IS ENFORCED, BIG TIME. Because it isn't safe! The local politicians are thought of as fools and lying to the citizens.

Possible side affects going into the gastrointestinal tract even if you don't swallow are diarrhoea, cholera, dysentry, hepatitis to name a few charmers. Ridiculous! Paris' sewage system is diabolical, they had to spent 1.5 billion trying to make the Seine swimmable! In heavy rain some city sewage still diverts back into the river, charming!! They should have handed out nets to everyone to remove the "solids" from the river this way they may have had a chance to slip it past the athletes. Is this common? They don't care? They swim in it?
